I love you guys. I really do. But some of you folks kill me.

I really wish I hadn't said a gorram thing about it at all.

The rumors are running like wildfire through the ENTIRE Whedon fanbase, and all I can think is that I'm the dumb sumbitch that dropped the snowball at the top of the mountain.

Can we all calm down a bit? If we don't. . .ANY possible 'inside source' for REAL news will clam up QUICK.

I won't lie, Static - you've caused problems on a few fronts. And also: I don't think SERENITY is moving, either, so for no reason.

Please, if you have 'inside' info, make sure if it's supposed to be posted online like that or not. You have to bear in mind people could loose their jobs over things like that if it were true. This is a $40,000,000+ plus investment Universal are juggling, so can't afford to have things get messed up by us.

Spread the word, yes, but wait to see if it's official in any way first.

well personally I appreciate the excitement,
I mean, we've been through the upset about the crazy 'Serenity' spoilers...
and we've been through the angst about the nasty scalpers on eBay...
how else do we keep excitement high?

Personally I worry about not getting all my earned credits at the Universal board (I just dropped from ranking 88 to 90, but I have more than 500 points coming to me! grrr argh), but I can't expect the rest of you to care about that.

So personally I am grateful to Static for passing along the rumors he hears, they are exciting on a dull hot Summer afternoon (and I really hope they turn out to be true!).

Hey, Static, no need to feel bad. After all, I'm the one who suggested we all stop getting excited about the whole bumping the release date issue, then based his argument on a fallacious assumption....

There's a chance that the info you got from that rep has some truth to it. You stuck your neck out to present us with that item. More'n what most here would have done. Certainly more'n what I've done. So, you're getting burned a bit. But I respect the fact that you've gone and done something to try and keep up our Browncoat spirits.

I say this with respect and without trying to sound snarky ('cause I'm not) but what did you think was going to happen? Browncoats are an excitable bunch!

I wouldn't worry too much about it though, anyone who's in serious danger of losing their job from any leak to the public should be keeping their mouth shut in the first place. And anyone accusing you of causing trouble for Universal by accidentally starting an internet frenzy seems to be either exaggerating or trying to stir up something by making it appear to be more than it was.

Hey, it was a bit of excitement in an otherwise eventless week. And who can blame you for being a good Browncoat and trying to help the rest of us out?

Please don't worry about it. We share what we know, with caveats for what we don't know. People are free to make of it what they will.

I am the one who started the "rumor" about July 29th--which now has at least one confirmation, so not so much a rumor anymore. At least 2 people saw the July 29th date, so I am confident that no one is lying. Maybe it is a misprint, maybe not. Who knows. But can we keep something like that to ourselves? Would other browncoats rather that you and I didn't say anything? I am guessing not.

The way I see it, neither you nor I misrepresented the facts as we knew them in any way. We didn't shout out spoilers. That is all that can be asked of us, isn't it?

If you go back and read your original post on the subject, I think you'll find it was quite sensationalist. The title was 'BRACE YOURSELVES...THIS ROCKS!!!' for one thing ;)

Of course I agree you did nothing wrong in posting it. The wrongdoers are those who interpret a post like yours as hard fact and start repeating it as such. Don't feel bad.
