Might want to double check your screening tickets

I bought 2 tickets to the screening in Philadelphia. Everything seemed to go through just fine, but I never got an email confirmation. Today I checked my credit card, and did not see any charges. So I called the theatre and gave the manager my credit card number, and he said that they don't have any record of purchases on my card. The manager said that someone else had called in earlier with the same problem.

It would have been a 6 hour drive for me, so I am glad I found now instead of at the door. If anyone else is traveling to the screening, it might be a good idea to double check that your purchase did go through if there are any doubts.

Now I'll go sit on a floor and sob...

MALICIOUS

I am right there with you Cant. I tried for an hour and a half, with movietickets.sucks taking me around in circles.

I never received an email confirmation, but I did get a confirmation screen with a confirmation number. I called Movietickets.com's toll-free number and was told the transaction had gone through. Anyone else get a confirmation number?

I don't remember seeing one, but I might have missed it because I wasn't looking for one. I've gotten lazy with online ordering and just wait for the confirmation email. All I got was a screen telling me to bring my credit card to the theatre in order to pick up my tickets. Was that what you got?

Do you think there is still a chance my tickets went through? Has your credit card been charged? Or do they wait until the night of the screening?

Thanks.

Waiting anxiously for a miracle to tell me my tickets were purchased after all....

You know, I haven't checked whether the charge went through or not, but actually speaking to someone who confirmed the transaction allayed my fears some.

They have a toll free number: 1 888 440 8457. Maybe if you call them and give them the date and time of the show (and remember, it's listed as Special Advance Preview) and your personal info, they can tell you.

Good luck!

Thanks, Capt. I just called them. They said they have a record of an attempted purchase with my credit card, but that the purchase did not go through because it had been sold out already. They said because of the way the screening was linked, the link allowed visitors to try to buy the ticket even after it had been sold out.

I told them I wished their website were programmed to display a failed purchase when an event is sold out, instead of taking us to their regular confirmation page, without the confirmation numbers (I just thought that's how this site works--wishful thinking perhaps). It was misleading, and I wasn't the only one who thought the purchase had gone through.

So word to the wise. If you bought tickets through movietickets.com and you were taken to a confirmation page without a confirmation / tracking number, it probably didn't go through.

I felt SO disappointed I even went to ebay to look for scalpers (ugh, how low have I sunk?), and there weren't even any scalpers for Philadelphia.

[back to my sobbing....]

FYI, you don't HAVE to call. You can check the status of your ticket order online - just go the MovieTickets.com site, then click on "My Account" (towards the upper right) to sign in. It may say "Edit My Account" instead.

[Brief aside here - I had to create an account on the site to buy tickets. I hate sites that make me do this - it is just to collect marketing info. From the day my 5-yr-old daughter was born, I've taught her that TV commericals/web ads/radio ads/etc. are ways marketers try to get us to a) think their way and b) buy things we don't need. Shades of my Browncoat-iness, I guess. She'll now gladly relay that information to her friends and relatives when commericals come on.]

After signing in, go to the Order History tab, and your transaction should be there (if it went through). If you have no transaction there, then start the sobbing...

I had a friend who wanted to get tickets. Neither of us got a confirmation e-mail, but my transaction processed and his didn't. Go figure. I guess MovieTickets.com has a few issues to work out.

Been doing sobbing already. It's terrible, but I feel like I did when the show was first cancelled. Grief. It's just an advance screening, for goodness sake ... sob... hiccup... sob. No, a few tears came to my eyes, but my insides feel like Inara when she was on the floor sobbing.

I did check the order history before I called. Zippo. I called anyway, just in case. I have now exhausted every possibility for confirming that my purchase went through. So Sept 30th it is for me.
