DEADMAN

Hey everyone. I need help with an EXTREMELY inane piece of trivia, but I'm hoping one of you fine folks can help me.

We NEVER see Mal reload his gun, that strange and futuristic looking thing, except in ONE scene in ONE episode, where the gun actually breaks in half like a breech loader. I dont think we actually see him put bullets into it, but I do recall it opening.

I need to know which episode that scene is in. I'm about to re-watch the series anyway, but I was hoping to find this particular scene faster. And...there is a point to all this. There's a very specific reason I want to find that particular scene.

Thanks...

I can't help you with the episode number, but I don't remember it as a breech loader, and it doesn't look to me like it could split open from the close-ups. I thought he exchanged the little, um, dongle next to the trigger guard, like a magazine.

I also remember something like a magazine being inserted just forward of the trigger guard.

GUNRUNNER

I think the Scene in question was in 'Serenity' as the crew was walking off the ship on too Persephone. Or it was in Heart of Gold has he was “handling his weapon" at the dinner table but thas is less likely I think.

He definitely does the "check magazine" type thing in 'Serenity' as they disembark on Persephone. Couldn't say anything so certain about 'Heart Of Gold' as I've not got round to watching it again yet.

Are you sure they are the same gun? There are quite alot of different guns in the series. If you can give scenes in specific episodes I would be happy to give it a look-see.

I'm fairly sure it's the same gun, but I can't tell you much about the scene other than the fact that the crew was walking outdoors, I believe on Persephone.

Definitely the same gun, Mal's.

Look at the landing at Eavesdown Docks on Persephone in 'Serenity' and the beginning of 'Heart Of Gold'.

Yeah, he "reloads" the gun at the beginning of serenity, but really he's just pulling the side piece off the prop and putting it back on again, with a nice clicky sound added in post.

in heart of gold, unfortunately, he sets HIS gun to the side and cracks up a diffrent toploader that was sitting on the table in front of him.

Anyway, either way now it doesnt matter. I guess I'll be posting pictures soon...

Yeah, I just watched Firefly through again and I noticed that we never see him reload properly. The gun does look a little like a revolver to me.
