Hey folks. Quick Question...
I'm with Herocon.net and we are trying to stage and plan a convention in Springfield, MO possibly on New Years 2010.

Is there enough browncoats and other whedonites in the area that we'll have enough fan-push for a big show??

We already have a line on Morena Baccarin and Summer Glau to appear at the con, but if we get enough interest and fan-push, we'll be able to pull in some more talent from the show, or possibly have a Whedon-Weekend. (I'd love it if we could do that!)

Anyhoo, anyone and everyone that is interested, please drop a response here. We'll try and gauge the responses we get so we can plan the best show we can do.

Thanks again,
Mike

Be sure to check in with the Browncoat groups from surrounding areas to gauge their interest too. (Not that you haven't already done that -- just sayin')
Kansas City, St. Louis, Tulsa, Little Rock

My family and I plan to take a vacation through Springfield, MO but I doubt we could make it a New Years trip.

But I think it's a helluva plan. I wish you guys the best.

Awesome, thanks!

Other than this site (because I am new at this PR thing) is there a more specific way to contact specific chapters/groups? I'm used to just wandering the internet and finding stuff at random ;-) I've never had to be thorough before lol...

its weird when you go from just being a fan to helping organize an event for others. but its exciting to be sure.

personally i'm hoping for a big enough show to get Joss and Nathan in, that would be awesome! seeing as we are planning it (hopefully) far enough ahead, we will be able to raise enough money to afford bringing them in.

Try www.bigdamnboard.com
They have a listing of pretty much all the Browncoat groups around the world.

Tell me about it. That was me in 2006 trying to organize a Can't Stop the Serenity screening when I didn't know a single other Browncoat in town. They're out there, though. You just have to find them.

Good luck!

Absolutely,
Hey, will this be 2009-2010, or 2010-2011 New Years?

Mike2020, give me an e-mail at co.pilot@live.com. I operate a Firefly oriented band out of St. Louis, we might be able to help you market and develop this event if you're interested.

Take Care,

I don't know if I could ever do something else that would be a better way to ring in a New Year. Plus, the holiday makes it easier for me to attend (being a student).

Oh my god please!!!!!! I have an entire building of coworkers not to mention my family that would love to be there... I continue converting people to the browncoat cause on a daily basis. My whole family serves as a walking advertisement for the movie as well as the firefly series.

Would actors associated with them be invited as well, like Thomass Dekker, or Lena Headey.

I live in St. Louis so I'm in. I haven't been to anything like this before, would it be all weekend or what? I won't be a student anymore then but I assume seeing as how New Year's Eve will be on a Friday the worst case scenario is that I'll be a little late, and I've got a few friends I could talk into coming, as they "converted" me :)

I live close enough to go, but I'm not sure this convention is still in the works. The site no longer loads. I guess we'll have to wait til someone comes along and updates. :)
