AFTERGLOW

I know that there will be a lot of Shindigs happening to celebrate the holidays (including us here in Minnesota). I have an idea to make these Shindigs even more meaningful: Tell everyone coming to the Shindig to bring a non-perishable food item to the party for donation to your local food shelf or homeless shelter. It's not expensive and it's a way to show that Browncoats really care about their communities (and I know we do). Our fun, friendship and comraderie has already done lots for different charities so I think this fits right in. I hope this idea catches on. Remember:
"We're just happy to be doin' good works."

That is an awesome suggestion for people to get more involved and spread the word of the Browncoats to the masses. Thanks so much for putting it up, I'm only sorry that I did not see it earlier.

Afterglow,
It's a great idea. It doesn't even have to be just during the holidays. Any shindig at any time could make a big difference for local food banks or homeless shelters.

Interestingly, on the date that you posted (Tue, Dec 5) we had a shindig here in Phoenix with the Bedlam Bards. There was a canned food drive to give to a local food bank.

I'm glad that the "good works" are catching on. When I delivered the six bulging grocery bags to the dropoff location (a restaurant that had donated gift cards for the Serenity Now/Equality Now charity screenings last summer: just thought that they helped us out, we should help them out with their food drive) their word was "Wow!" Everyone at the Shindig signed a card and we're looking to collect more food donations at future Shindigs.

It's a way to "Help Spread the Word to Non Sci-Fi Fans" by writing to Oprah about Joss, the BDH, and the great works that are done by Browncoats.

Actually, VE.. your idea to write Oprah and get Joss on there is wonderful. Highlights the wonderful stuff that BC's are doing all around the world thru our contributions to Equality Now.

May I link to your signature? I'd like to post about the Oprah letter campaign as I go round and post about the Relit campaign in my capacity as a BSC member? Would that be ok? It would give a heads up about it then next week we could do a proper BSC post.. which I'm behind in so please forgive me.

Joss and all the BDH's and all the hard working BC's who have done such valuable charity work thru these last years need our thanks and our support.

Gorramnit, we're a shiny bunch!
