I think I'll be getting my serious news from both CNN & FoxNews. Then for the majority of my viewing, I'll be cuddling up with a little Jon Steward on Comedy Central. The Daily Show is having a special. OH YEAH BABY! JONNY-BOY IN PRIME TIME!!

I'll get election coverage from C-Span
(I watched the debates from PBS - I refuse to watch network news)
but I'll be only watching Jon Stewart during his time on the air!
I just love the Daily Show! Best fake news!
Better than all the other fake news!

Captain Pedantic to the rescue!

I'll be watching The Daily Show's election night coverage, too, but I noticed that, for such a fan of Jon Stewart, that's the second time I've seen you misspell his name.

Me misspelling Jon Stewarts name shouldn't surprise you. I'm the classic "mouth moves faster than brain" type of person...unfortunately, that translates into typing skills as well. One must also take into account the fact that I have several "Jon's" in my personal life and they all spell their names differently. The same is true for the "Stewart's" in my life. Only, usually, my typo's for Jon Stewart usually somehow end up being "John Steward." Go figure!

Could you not watch CNN or Fox when we're ...
EVER!

Stick to CSPAN, if you must watch something for information.
The Daily Show is good for fun. For information? Not so much.

Yeah, the Beeb gets a vote of confidence.

BTW, since folks seem to like Jon Stewart's The Daily Show, may I suggest you check out Harry Shearer's much longer running and just as funny Le Show?
Go to his website or audible.com for free archives of his show. The most recent Sunday show usually shows up on the Tuesday of that week. Or listen to it Sundays on Armed Forces Radio or many NPR stations.

Well, of course the Daily Show is just for fun. And CNN & Fox both present the news, albeit from opposite sides. That's why it's so great. But Jon Stewart is a comic genius and I think if more people watched him, we would all be a lot more tolerant.

I'll be ingoring media coverage on election day. They are the biggest force in terms of disenfranchising voters in elections. They tend to jump the gun and call states before the polls are closed.

I think CNN and Fox run the gamut, from A to B.
I cannot think of a single mass media outlet that is on the opposite side of Fox. Maybe Air America?

I've listened to a couple of the BBC world election debates over NPR here. It's terrific.

How is Haken doing? Hawaii gets disenfranchised the most everywhere. With only 4 electoral votes and completed 5 hours off from the DC clock. They get completely forgotten. The election results are announced by lunch time in Hawaii and everyone forgets to vote after that.

I echo this 150%. Especially when they start calling East Coast states 30 minutes after the polls close - when most of the country's polls are still open!!

The problem isn't really so much for the Presidential election - ethically and legally speaking, it would be completely wrong to call the results like that. However, with the battleground states all on the east coast - the Presidential election is in reality pretty much over when those polls close.

Even with that though, announcing the results completely kills off the state and local elections. People just figured that it's *all* done when the Presidential election is done and don't bother to vote on the local issues and candidates as well.

I'll probably watch local coverage and Jon Stewart. Always an irreverent view of the world in my view.
