This is an unpopular verdict...

https://www.ipsos.com/en-us/americans-trust-law-enforcement-desire-pro
tect-law-and-order-rise

(This, coming from a polling firm which is skewed heavily to the left and was regularly an outlier showing much lower ratings for Trump's approval than the average in the aggregate... so the numbers are likely even worse for the outcome of the trial.)

Quote:

For example, now, far fewer Americans personally believe George Floyd was murdered (36%) compared to last summer (60%). Though slightly more believe it was an accident (8%, up from 3%), much of this shift has been to respondents saying they don’t know. Currently, 17% say they don’t know how to characterize Floyd’s death, up from 4% in June.

36% think it was murder. That leaves between 1 and 2 out of 5 Democrats even believing that Floyd wasn't murdered... On a poll done by a polling firm that regularly polls more Democrats than Republicans and Independents combined.

Between that, the Legacy Media not shutting the fuck up about it, Maxine and Biden* not shutting the fuck up about it, and a weird outcome where he was charged guilty both of premeditated murder AND manslaughter, it won't be long until he appeals and is acquitted of all charges.

--------------------------------------------------

Imagine the hypocrisy of a government who will allow businesses to card people to get a job or buy groceries, but won't card people to vote in elections and gives millions of non-citizens free money from taxpayers.

Congratulations though. You probably did ruin the rest of this man's life.

He'll likely never be a cop again. And I doubt very much he can even get a job in the future as a WalMart greeter. You'll be able to find him at Home Depot with the illegal aliens at 6:00AM looking for under the table day jobs.

If you dislike the verdict, blame the prosecuting attorneys. They are the ones who could have let Derek Chauvin NOT go to trial. I've seen District Attorneys in Texas decide NOT to prosecute police so I'm pretty sure D.A.s in all states can do whatever pleases themselves. The prosecutors are the ones who decided the charges. If they had wanted, the prosecutors could have instructed the jury to pick ONLY ONE OF THE THREE CHARGES, either a) or b) or c). If the jury had picked two or more, the jury could have been sent back to deliberate until they settle on only one charge.

What to Know About the Charges Against Derek Chauvin
By Jacob Gershman
https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/derek-chauvin-trial-verdict/card/n7IN
CNYWbtBSyXFXXqP2

Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin faced three charges in his trial: murder in the second degree while committing a felony, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

The charges require the jury to conclude that Mr. Chauvin caused Mr. Floyd’s death, even if unintentionally, meaning that his prolonged kneeling on Mr. Floyd’s neck and back was at least a “substantial causal factor” in his death, though not necessarily the only factor. All the charges require proof that the force used to restrain Mr. Floyd was unreasonable.

The most serious charge against Mr. Chauvin is second-degree unintentional murder. Also known as felony murder, the charge requires proof that Mr. Chauvin killed Mr. Floyd while committing a felony, specifically third-degree assault. That means the jury would have to conclude that not only did Mr. Chauvin cause Mr. Floyd’s death, but at the time he was killing him, Mr. Chauvin was assaulting or attempting to assault him by intentionally applying unlawful and nonconsensual force that resulted in substantial bodily harm.

Third-degree murder requires proof that Mr. Chauvin caused Mr. Floyd’s death by “perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to others and evincing a depraved mind, without regard for human life,” according to the Minnesota statute. Third-degree murder is typically applied to more indiscriminate killings, such as spraying bullets into a crowd. A pending legal dispute in Minnesota over how to interpret the language in the third-degree murder statute makes that charge more vulnerable to an appeal, according to legal experts.

The jury also has the option of convicting Mr. Chauvin of second-degree manslaughter, the lesser charge of the three. For that offense, the jury would need to conclude that Mr. Floyd died as a result of Mr. Chauvin’s culpable negligence or recklessness. It’s the same charge leveled against the former police officer who fatally shot 20-year-old Daunte Wright.

Mr. Chauvin faces up to 40 years in prison for second-degree unintentional murder, 25 years for third-degree murder and 10 years for manslaughter. Because Mr. Chauvin has no prior felonies, his potential time behind bars could be much shorter. State sentencing guidelines recommend a range of around 11 to 15 years in prison for the murder offenses and around four years for the manslaughter charge.

Prosecutors, though, say they will seek a harsher sentence.

There were at least 72 incidents of cars driving into protesters over a relatively short span in 2020, from May 27 through July 7. GOP lawmakers are responding to Black Lives Matter protests by making it legal to kill protestors with a car.

Another thing Texas Trumptards believe, after being sued: it is not morally wrong to hit a bicyclist, except children on bikes, because it should be illegal to ride in the streets. While I'm a passenger I have had to listen to an angry Trumptard driver swearing at, blowing the horn, and swerving close to bicyclists. Trumptards drivers see bicyclists as limiting a Trumptard's freedom to do what he wants on the road and freedom is the most important value for a Trumptard, more than acting decent. Trumptards don't hit the bicyclists only because that would be inconvenient for the Trumptard. As for obligations to be decent to the bicyclists? Trumptards don't care when the bicyclist is an adult wearing spandex clothing. The psychology of Trumptard v bicyclist is very annoying to this libtard. I will break cover and tell the Trumptard loud and clear what I think when I see them do something rude and nasty around a bicyclist and I won't use the argument that it would be inconvenient for completing the car ride if the Trumptard hits a bicycle.

Bicycle Deaths -- The number of preventable deaths from bicycle transportation incidents increased 6% in 2019 and have increased 37% in the last 10 years, from 793 in 2010 to 1,089 in 2019. At the same time, the number of preventable nonfatal injuries has declined 40%, from 515,861 in 2010 to 308,864 in 2019.

You assume wrong, Signym. I was riding inside the cars when these car v bicyclist stories happened. I know the drivers. They are Trumptards.

When I tell Trumptard stories, I'm not a visitor or tourist in Trumptard country who is looking at the surface of things and then writing a libtard's viewpoint for The New Yorker. I am on the inside where I know the Trumptards, things about them that even they seem unaware about themselves, flaws in their thinking that make life a struggle for them to stay in the middle class.

I can't repeat this too many times, and I've never known a Trumptard to truly understand, but it is very straightforward and simple to rise higher in America if you understand it. If you don't, and Trumptards don't, America is the most endlessly frustrating and difficult place to live.

I've seen the words Trumpism and Trumpist used instead of the impolite Trumptard, which hints at Trumpists being retarded. Trumpists, in my experience with Texans, actually are retarded, but I am biased against the way they approach problem-solving at work, in private life and in politics. Trumpists are easily frightened and confused by unfamiliar difficulties or situations and do not know how to solve non-routine problems other than to get angry and shout NO! NO! NO!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trumpism

An interview with the prosecutor Keith Ellison convinces me that if he had been white he would have chosen to NOT prosecute Derek Chauvin. It is a suspicion or a counterfactual that will only become a fact if an appellate court throws out the conviction and the next trial of Chauvin is handled by a white prosecutor who decides there is not enough reason to bring the case to trial. To make it clear, Chauvin is guilty as hell in my opinion and Chauvin should have given testimony by having a knee placed on his neck for 9 minutes to see if Chauvin survives. If he dies, he was guilty the first time he was convicted.

Anonymous jury in Derek Chauvin trial part of a growing trend that has some legal experts worried
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2021/04/25/chauvin-trial-ju
ry-anonymous-concerning-trend-us-justice/7342909002

Anonymous juries continue to be rare, accounting for only about a dozen a year out of more than 100,000 jury trials nationally.

In a 1998 paper called “The Effects of Juror Anonymity on Jury Verdicts,” psychologists Lynn Hazelwood and John Brigham created an experiment with students that found a higher rate of conviction (70%) with anonymous juries when compared with named juries (40%). Anonymous juries in the experiment also “imposed the harshest punishment (expulsion) significantly more often than non-anonymous juries.”

In a 2018 paper titled “A Jury of Your (Redacted): The Rise and Implications of Anonymous Juries,” Cornell Law School student Leonardo Mangat argues that while “not without its benefits, anonymous juries raise questions regarding a defendant’s presumption of innocence” and the public’s right to an open trial. Mangat is now a clerk with the California Supreme Court.

Valerie Hans, professor of law at Cornell in Ithaca, New York, and Mangat’s former teacher, said there is another potential bias implicit in granting juror anonymity.

“You don’t necessarily always want to convey to a jury that the defendant is so dangerous that you need protection,” she said.

Schrödinger vented his frustration over how badly Signym had missed the point: “It is as if one person said, ‘It is bitter cold in Chicago’; and another answered, ‘That is a fallacy, it is very hot in Florida.’”

I am going to quote another physicist, Sabine Hossenfelder, after a brief introduction: Trumptards are the political equivalent of Flat Earthers. You can see Earth is flat with your own eyes. Fake news will tell you differently than what you obviously have experienced. The Earth is flat and that’s that. Anybody claiming the Earth is a sphere is a Libtard.

Sabine Hossenfelder wrote Flat Earth “Science”: Wrong, but not Stupid

The flat earth society goes back to an Englishman by name Samuel Rowbotham, who lived in the 19th century. He was a medical doctor who believed he had proved that the earth is flat. He referred to his methodology as “Zeteticism” after the Greek word zeteo, “to seek”.

By “Zeteticism” he meant an extreme version of the philosophy of empiricism. Rowbotham’s philosophy, which is still the philosophy of flat earthers today, is that if you want to understand nature, you should only rely on information from your own senses. You can for example read on the website of the flat earth society:

“The world looks flat, the bottoms of clouds are flat, the movement of the Sun; these are all examples of your senses telling you that we do not live on a spherical heliocentric world. This is using what’s called an empirical approach, or an approach that relies on information from your senses.”

That flat earthers insist on evidence from your own senses only really is key to understanding their problem.

How does someone end up rejecting something as scientifically well-established as the fact that the earth is round?

There is not only one reason, of course. Some flat earthers find the idea is appealing for religious reasons, others are of the crowd who think NASA is evil, space a fake, and the moon landing didn’t happen. But mostly it’s because they think they are merely being rational skeptics. They have not themselves been able to prove the earth is round, so they believe they are only reasonable when they request evidence. CNN for example reports from a flat earth conference:

“Like most of the speakers at the event CNN spoke to, he was convinced after he decided he couldn’t prove the Earth’s roundness.”

More at http://backreaction.blogspot.com/2020/08/flat-earth-science-wrong-but-
not-stupid.html

TRUMPTARD "SCIENCE" - WRONG, BUT NOT STUPID

It is a lovely introduction to how logical and smart people such as Trumptards can convince themselves they are right despite being dead wrong. It is funny what Trumptards do and how certain they are about EVERYTHING.
