The president’s long campaign against the Postal Service is intersecting with his assault on mail-in voting amid concerns that he has politicized oversight of the agency.

It is much much more than merely slower mail to disrupt the vote.

Here are a few reasons Trump fired the competent Postmaster General and appointed the acting PG who is a major campaign donor with zero experience (acting because, like many, many other 'acting' cabinet and department head positions, Trump knows Congress will never approve their appointment)...

They want to eliminate or disrupt absentee ballots because with more people able to easily vote it means Trump will lose by a landslide.

They want to reduce efficiency so they can privatize it because of a lack of efficiency, through a no-bid contract to the highest reelection campaign donor 'bidder'/Mar-A-Lago member - which translates to kickbacks (campaign donations) which equals legal bribes!

Trump wants to fuck with Jeff Bezos who owns Amazon, the biggest client of USPS, but more important, Bezos owns the 'fake news' Washington Post who reports the truth about the presidential criminal enterprise for pulling stunts exactly like this one.

Amazon is the biggest client of the USPS. So big that the Post Office delivers their packages on Sunday - the only mail delivered on Sunday. Amazon customers who are used to 2 day delivery may now have to wait up to a week or more and may decide to shop elsewhere. Maybe some Amazon packages 'get lost in the system' and never delivered...

Because Trump hates Bezos so much, he is willing to disrupt one of the oldest (1792/George Washington) and most efficient departments of the USA Government just to fuck with Jeff Bezos. Let that sink in...

And maybe the most important reason of all - 'TO OWN THE LIBS' ! ! ! ! !*

The new Postmaster General is Louis DeJoy. Since January 2020, DeJoy has donated $360,000 to President Trump’s re-election campaign and roughly $70,000 to the Republican National Committee. He was appointed in May 2020...

(if you do the math, he donated over $61,000 a month/over $2,000 per day to buy this job that pays $291,650 per year...)

Now you know the price for Trump to sell the job to someone with absolutely no experience. Let that sink in, and realize that he sold every other high level position under similar circumstances - they bribed trump* to get a job with no experience...

They spend much more to get the job than the job pays. Think about that...

This new crony sees no problem that all the mail does not get delivered every day (like now and forever up until now) and it is OK that a backlog is compounded every day, week, month, year...

Soon a daily priority ranking system will have to be assigned to determine the importance of each envelope or package and how timely it should be delivered, if delivered at all.

The acting Postmaster General and Trump feel it is wasteful to pay overtime, or hire new employees, or budget for infrastructure improvements to ensure every day that:

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"

The new slogan should be. "Maybe your letter or package will get there, maybe not"

At this point in the Trump administration he knows he can get away with anything he wants because he knows he has Barr & the DOJ & the Judges and Mitch & the Senate in his pocket and they will never go after him.

Welcome to the new Trump dystopia...

There is an excellent reason for purchasing a job that only pays $291,650 per year:

Trump's Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and his wife have between $30.1 million to $75.3 million in assets in U.S. Postal Service competitors or contractors. The man Trump put in charge of the Postal Service has the most to gain from its destruction. How will he gain? Without the USPS, 70 million more Americans would have to pay hefty surcharges for deliveries. The agency has been rapidly losing money since a 2006 law, passed with the support of the George W. Bush administration, required USPS to pre-fund employee retiree health benefits for 75 years in the future. That means the Postal Service must pay for the future health care of employees who have not even been born yet. The burden accounted for an estimated 80% to 90% of the agency’s losses before the pandemic.

How is citing facts a conspiracy theory?

Never mind. You can't tell the difference, anyway.

Because everything that is anti-Democrat is considered "conspiracy" and everything that is anti-Republican is considered "fact" when listening to any Legacy Media outlets.

It wasn't always that way. But here we are.

Welcome to the new Trump dystopia...

Geez, your Spin Doctors are working overtime - and yet they still got it all wrong, with vastly outdated info.

USPS hasn't delivered "all the mail every day" since at least the mid 1980s, when the advent of Automation consolidated Mail Processing into centrally located Processing and Distributions Centers.
Even in the 1990s and 2000s, 2nd Class (or lesser) mail was not delivered on Mondays, sometimes not on Tuesdays, and was not even accepted from mailers in the month of December (which is why you got flooded with flyers at the end of November).

In 2010 Congress decided and approved the new USPS practice of ending the traditional Practice and Pledge of Next Day Delivery. Which had meant that if you mailed your next door neighbor a letter, they would get it the next delivery day.
Was Trump residing in the White House in 2010? Was Trump in control of Congress in 2010?

USPS closed 141 facilities (of about 400) in 2012 and 2013. In 2014 and 2015 they closed even more.
Was Trump residing in the White House in 2012-2015?

The same thing happened all over the U.S., but I'm more familiar with WI, so I'll explain it a little more.
Only Green Bay and Milwaukee Centers remained open. Closed were Rhinelander, Wausau (Rothschild/Central), Oshkosh, Madison, Eau Claire, La Crosse, Rockford (IL, but still in the Lakeland Perfomance Cluster), Iron Mountain/Kingsford (MI), Poynette.

Mail from the shore of Lake Superior at Bayfield had traveled for 4 hours to Wausau to be sorted and processed every night, and then after sorting was trucked for 4 hours back to Bayfield for delivery the next day.
Now that mail gets trucked to Green Bay, 6 hours each way. There is no attempt to sort it overnight, it is delayed at least a day, and often more than a day.

How would you know what global interests are? To you all sources of information are fake, leaving only conspiracies for you to draw from. That puts you into the nut category.

Someone who is surrounded by a simulated, fake, reality. It is literally impossible to reject all the worlds’ mainstream sources for information, and be anything but living in a fantasy world.

You’re an idiot Jack. Really, you’re an idiot. You have cut yourself off from the collective intellect of the world. You can't tell the difference between real and unreal. Perhaps because you can't accept what is real, over what you want to be real?

No Jack now. We see who the idiot is now. It is you. That's why you didn't address any of my last posts criticism, you can't. You've said it here a thousand times. Mainstream media is fake, and to date, you've shown you have no other reliable accountable sources.

You're like Trump when it comes to the coronavirus. He hopes it will go away when science says it won't. Just as you believe Trump will win in November. That too is not based on science.

Your reality is not rooted in reality. It's rooted in want, as I've said.

Because Trump hates Bezos so much, he is willing to disrupt one of the oldest (1792/George Washington) and most efficient departments of the USA Government just to fuck with Jeff Bezos. Let that sink in...

DeJoy paid $2 mil for the job. He's intentionally ruining the USPS. His wife was made ambassador to Canada.

Huge surprise that only Democrats are in favor of mail in ballots.

Lying, cheating and stealing. Whatever it takes to beat Trump.

Sure. Let's completely de-legitimatize the vote.

USPS workers are reporting that mail deliveries are intentionally 'slowed down'

However, the United States Postal Service's dilemma, while similar to the aforementioned examples, has a host of other political implications associated with its reported intentional derailment.

USPS' Board of Governors is mostly comprised of individuals hand-picked by President Trump.

Voting by mail leads to a million different scenarios where cheating can happen.

I think the biggest concern would be people going door to door to get other people to vote. They could go through all of them before dumping them in a mailbox and weed out any that voted the way they don't like.

Or forgery. That's easy to do.

I'm 1000% in favor of limiting voting only to people with a photo ID. Zero chance you're ever going to convince me that mail in ballots are a good idea.

At least six Sinclair national segments didn't mention Trump's sabotage of the Postal Service when covering his false attacks on mail-in voting

President Donald Trump and his administration have weakened the United States Postal Service, enacting policies leading to slower mail delivery ahead of a presidential election in which mail-in voting will be heavily used. But Sinclair’s national reporters repeatedly failed to mention the administration’s efforts in at least six segments covering -- and in two cases advancing -- the president’s false attacks on the integrity and efficacy of voting by mail.

On August 5, one of Sinclair’s reporters finally reported on Trump’s efforts to undermine the Postal Service -- six weeks after the first Sinclair report covering his attacks on mail-in voting.

'Friday Night Massacre' at US Postal Service as Postmaster General—a Major Trump Donor—Ousts Top Officials
"America is in a dead sprint to authoritarianism. The man is pulling out all the stops to prevent the citizens of this country from holding a legitimate election in which he might face removal from office."
https://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/08/07/friday-night-massacre-us-
postal-service-postmaster-general-major-trump-donor-ousts

The shake-up came as congressional Democrats called for an investigation of DeJoy and the cost-cutting measures that have slowed mail delivery and ensnared ballots in recent primary elections.

Twenty-three postal executives were reassigned or displaced, the new organizational chart shows. Analysts say the structure centralizes power around DeJoy, a former logistics executive and major ally of President Trump, and de-emphasizes decades of institutional postal knowledge. All told, 33 staffers included in the old postal hierarchy either kept their jobs or were reassigned in the restructuring, with five more staffers joining the leadership from other roles.

Already under fire for recent policy changes at the USPS that mail carriers from within and outside critics have denounced as a sabotage effort to undermine the Postal Service broadly as well as disrupt efforts to carry out mail-in voting for November's election amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the moves unveiled late Friday were viewed as an overt assault on democracy and a calculated opportunity to boost Republicans' long-held dream of undercutting or privatizing the government-run mail service while also boosting their election prospects in the process.

"Another Friday night massacre by this administration—and this time dealing another devastating blow to our postal service," said Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon (D-Pa.) "The American people deserve answers and we're going to keep fighting for them."

Trump is also putting his friends in Pentagon and other high ranking military positions. He may well be planning a purge of the military as well, especially since they bucked his authority when he tried to get them to bayonet protesters.

6ix, I;m assuming you understand that all of this hoopla is from the largest Union in the world, the APWU, complaining that they are not getting the overtime they demand.

Funny how Obamination screwed over the largest Union in the world, plus the 2nd and 3rd (NALC, MHU) by suspending and ending the Postal Service Mandate of Next Day Delivery. Since that transformation, if mail is not fully sorted for 5 or 6 days of the week, it can be sorted on the 6th or 7th day, and no need for overtime.

That probably has something to do with it, but I think it's very small in the scheme of things.

There are a lot of things that can be done to keep union workers at the post office employed that don't require destroying the elections in America. Especially when election seasons only account for a small portion of time in the scheme of things, and they mail out a ton more targeted political mail than they ever would ballots.

Putting an end to the do-not-mail list would be one of them, especially considering that in 2020 at least 80% of the mail out there is junk mail.

I'm actually surprised that it's still a thing. Before I made this post I wanted to double check, because I thought it had been disbanded. I know I used to be on it at one point, but I get junk mail all the time again now. Turns out it's only for 5 years if you sign up for it. (Supposedly there is a "permanent" option, but why would there be two options?)

Really, they should just get rid of that if they want to help the post office out. I don't have a problem with the do-not-call list because I feel that invading your personal time with unsolicited phone calls is a breach of your personal space and privacy, but who cares about junk mail. Just throw it in the recycle bin.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Trump Just Admitted He's Sabotaging the USPS to Screw Up the Election
“They need that money in order to make the Post Office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots."

taging-the-usps-to-screw-up-the-election?utm_source=reddit.com

President Donald Trump said the quiet part out loud, admitting he’s intentionally withholding money from the U.S. Postal Service to undermine its ability to handle mail-in voting in the 2020 election.

“They need that money in order to make the Post Office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots,” Trump said on Fox Business Thursday morning of the states that are implementing universal mail-in voting ahead of the November election. “But if they don’t get those two items, that means you can’t have universal mail-in voting, because they’re not equipped to have it.”

The comments make clear why Trump and congressional Republicans have steadfastly refused to grant the Post Office money in the latest round of negotiations over coronavirus stimulus. Trump has long attacked mail voting as fraud-prone even though there’s little evidence that’s true — and he sees slowdowns at the Post Office as a way to screw up mail voting.

Widespread delays in ballot delivery could disenfranchise millions of people, lead to widespread chaos, and potentially swing a close election. Polls show that Democrats are increasingly likely to use mail voting as a safe way to cast a ballot during the pandemic, while Trump’s attacks on mail voting have pushed Republicans away from a method they’ve often used in the past.

Since Trump-donor Louis DeJoy took over the running of the Post Office in June, the mail has been slowed down considerably in at least 19 states, an alarming sign heading into the election. DeJoy’s new operational changes have included overhauling the service’s senior leadership and directing carriers to leave on time — even if the mail hasn’t been loaded —immediately in the morning, resulting in them only delivering packages and letters sorted the prior night, according to Reuters.

Trump’s comments to Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo echo statements he made at a Wednesday press conference at the White House.

“They don’t have the money to do the universal mail-in voting,” Trump said of the Post Office, which is requesting billions in emergency funding. “So, therefore, they can’t do it, I guess. Are they going to do it even if they don’t have the money?”

Trump also said using mail-in voting would cause “one of the greatest frauds in history.”

In a statement ripping into Trump’s Fox Business comments, Joe Biden campaign spokesperson Andrew Bates said: “The President of the United States is sabotaging a basic service that hundreds of millions of people rely upon, cutting a critical lifeline for rural economies and for delivery of medicines, because he wants to deprive Americans of their fundamental right to vote safely during the most catastrophic public health crisis in over 100 years,” Bates said.

The delays and the administration’s posture toward mail-in voting have drawn fierce criticism from Democratic leaders, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. The two sent a joint letter last month to DeJoy demanding a reversal of the recent changes at the USPS, saying the changes “threaten the timely delivery of mail—including medicines for seniors, paychecks for workers, and absentee ballots for voters—that is essential to millions of Americans.”

And this week, House and Senate Democrats sent separate letters to DeJoy laying the blame for the recent mail delays at his feet.

“The House is seriously concerned that you are implementing policies that accelerate the crisis at the Postal Service, including directing Post Offices to no longer treat all election mail as First Class,” Pelosi and 174 other House Democrats wrote. “If implemented now, as the election approaches, this policy will cause further delays to election mail that will disenfranchise voters and put significant financial pressure on election jurisdictions.”

In the Senate letter, Schumer and Sens. Amy Klobuchar, Tom Carper, and Gary Peters asked DeJoy to commit “to prioritize the delivery of all election mail,” and ripped into his leadership. “Instead of taking steps to increase your agency’s ability to deliver for the American people, you are implementing policy changes that make matters worse, and the Postal Service is reportedly considering changes that would increase costs for states at a time when millions of Americans are relying on voting by mail to exercise their right to vote,” the Senate Democrats wrote.

USPS Warns At Least 2 States That Mail-In Ballots May Not Be Delivered On Time
https://news.yahoo.com/usps-mail-in-ballots-pennsylvania-washington-04
4951098.html

Wyman, Washington’s secretary of state, had earlier expressed her own worries about the effect postal delivery delays could have on the election.

?I’m very concerned that delays in postal delivery are going to have a negative effect on absentee ballots and vote-by-mail elections,” Wyman, a Republican, told NPR earlier this month.

She added that she was troubled by President Donald Trump’s repeated ? and baseless ? insistence that mail-in voting will lead to widespread fraud.

“I think it really shatters people’s confidence in the process,” Wyman said. “We need to make sure we’re inspiring confidence in the public that this is a fair election. And the way you do that is balancing access and security.”

Trump on Thursday admitted in an interview with Fox Business that he was pushing back against Democrats’ demands for additional USPS funding because of his opposition to “universal mail-in voting.”

“If we don’t make a deal, that means they don’t get the money,” Trump said, referring to ongoing negotiations over a coronavirus relief package. “That means they can’t have universal mail-in voting. They just can’t have it.”

Trump-Appointed Judge Demands Evidence of Mail-in Voting Fraud
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-08-13/trump-appointed-jud
ge-demands-evidence-of-mail-in-voting-fraud

A federal judge appointed by Donald Trump gave the president’s campaign one day to turn over evidence to support its claims of widespread mail-in voting fraud or admit that it doesn’t exist.

The Trump campaign and Republican National Committee sued Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar and local election boards on June 29 over their plan for mail-in balloting for the November 3 elections. Trump’s team claimed the plan “provides fraudsters an easy opportunity to engage in ballot harvesting, manipulate or destroy ballots, manufacture duplicitous votes, and sow chaos.”

U.S. District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan in Pittsburgh on Thursday asked the campaign to put forward previous examples of such fraud. “Plaintiffs shall produce such evidence in their possession, and if they have none, state as much,” said Ranjan, who took his seat on the bench in August 2019. He gave the campaign until Friday.
