It is a great song, but it's among some of the great songs that I've heard so many freaking times in my life that I could go the rest of my life and it wouldn't bother me if I never heard them again.

Other songs on that list:
Stairway to Heaven
Hotel California
Walk of Life
Don't Stop Believing

I dunno... there's a whole bunch of them now that I practically groan when I hear them play.

YouTube is terrible for trying to play music, BTW... I've learned that while I'm working on the house. I'll pick one random 80's song and hear a few good jams and then they'll end up playing four in a row that I just listened to an hour ago before I had to go up and manually type in a song to get them off the same track. I think YouTube believes there were only 12 songs in the whole 80's decade. And somehow if I listen to anything even remotely considered Alternative Rock, I eventually get thrown into a non-stop loop of Soundgarden/Audioslave. I love Soundgarden/Audioslave, but I've heard it all a million times before and it's just boring now.

I dunno... Maybe I'll enjoy music more when I smoke weed again. But I've got too much shit to do right now. :)

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Hotel California - there's a great syncopated guitar passage near the end that never gets old for me
Walk of Life - I love the video, and usually I hate videos

Stairway to Heaven - meh to me, Dream On was much better
Don't Stop Believing - yeah, this one wore out for me as well

Yeah... And the live version is even better, IMO. But that's a really long song to hear over and over again for just one part. It's probably among my top 5 songs ever made, but I'm just done with it at this point.

I might have to watch it. I don't remember it. I wasn't allowed to watch MTV when I was a kid, so I didn't see a lot of music videos until my teens in the 90's.

Dream on by Aerosmith... or did Led Zepplin have a song with the same title? Dream on by AS is another great one too, but played out. I like quite a few songs by Led Zepplin, but most of them are overplayed too, although these days if you listen to the radio I wouldn't blame kids for thinking that Zepplin was a one hit wonder and Stairway was their only song.

One of my favorites since I was just a little tyke and has remained a favorite ever since. But c'mon... There are so many good songs from the 80's (or any decade) that never get played anymore. Maybe not on the levels of the great songs, but you can at least put them in the rotation from time to time.

Don't Stop Believing falls into another pitfall of things I hate about songs too... The line "Born and Raised in South Detroit". Why did that line have to be in there? Just because it rhymed with boy (badly)? Way to alienate your audience. I can't think of another one off the top of my head, but a lot of great songs have this line in them that localizes it or does something else to make it much less relatable to listeners who really get into the lyrics of songs.

And speaking of song rotation in general, I've got a real problem with the local station around me that plays mostly "Alternative" music... well at least that's what they called it when I was in high school. I'm not sure if the new music they play on that channel today is still considered "Alternative Rock" or not.

It's actually a pretty cool channel these days. It was off the air and replaced with something else years back some time after I was out of college, but now that I've been working out in the garage and play the boom box I was happy to see that not only is it sort of back, but the rotation of DJ's they put on there are all among the ones that used to do it back when I was in high school. I'm sure they're all quite old these days, but they don't sound any older than they did back then.

So... that's the good part. But the music selection???

Look, I get it that you have to play the same 20 songs from new artists because that's what most people want to hear on their way to and from work, and most people aren't listening to a radio all day long so they won't notice that you play the same 20 songs a dozen times or more every day, but when the other half of the songs you play from the 90's and early 2000's that used to be on your rotation are being played, can we stop pretending that Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Linkin Park are the only bands that existed in that decade?

They've probably got about 25,000 songs they could dip back into without straying too far into the "B Sides", but I've got to hear In Bloom three times a day in between 5 listens of Cage the Elephant.

YouTube is even worse because they don't have to be bad, but they just are.

/end rant.

I wish I still had my mp3 music collection. I've only got a few hundred songs left myself and they're all played out and boring to me now too.

I guess I need to get my video editing skills sharpened up so I can sit at home and make big bucks instead of just hanging out at big corp each day visiting forums while i wait for fellow employees to catch up with their workloads...anyway...this vid was fun..thanks for sharing.

Dude... I know exactly what you're saying. There are two channels popping up in my recommended feed where somebody isn't even talking themselves and they use one of those text to speech readers and all it is doing is reading wild posts on various topics on reddit. These videos are getting views in the hundreds of thousands or even millions.

Why am I working crappy part time jobs for peanuts?

We should start a channel.

I love "Hotel California", "Walk of Life" and "Don't Stop Believing."

I try to always have some music on when I am in on Sunday. An old mixed tape or a CD. I have all of those songs on tape and can listen to them over and over. Never get tired of them.

But that's just me.
