Just a friendly reminder for the fear mongers and their victims:

Quote:

This Is How Many People Die From the Flu Each Year, According to the CDC

While everyone is in a panic about the coronavirus (officially renamed COVID-19 by the World Health Organization), there's an even deadlier virus many people are forgetting about: the flu.

Flu season is hitting its stride right now in the US. So far, the CDC has estimated (based on weekly influenza surveillance data) that at least 12,000 people have died from influenza between Oct. 1, 2019 through Feb. 1, 2020, and the number of deaths may be as high as 30,000.

The CDC also estimates that up to 31 million Americans have caught the flu this season, with 210,000 to 370,000 flu sufferers hospitalized because of the virus.

Also to note, roughly 95,000 people have already died this year from tobacco use related deaths in America alone.

Not coughing, but I've got the runny nose and the sniffles right now.

Is it COVID-19? The flu? Or just one of the other Coronaviruses that we refer to as the common cold?

These are questions that will never be answered since even the absolute worst case projections give me nearly 100% shot of living and the only time I'd go to a doctor is if I was literally dying.

This is exciting. Wowie!

Catch you all on the flip side.

(Actually... I might be out of commission for a few days if it really is the flu.)

As of today, the CDC reports 10,442 confirmed cases in US, and 150 deaths.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.ht
ml?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fcases-in-us.html

That's a percentage of 1.436%

Expect this already much lower than previously reported by the Legacy Media hacks number to fall drastically as more cases are confirmed with testing, and also keep in mind when that happens that there are quite a few people who have gotten it and have long since recovered from it, with many of them showing zero symptoms other than possibly what you'd expect from the common cold. Those people will never be added to this total and it can only be speculated how many of them there actually were.

We'll have new numbers updated tomorrow, but don't expect any over the weekend. Even though the virus doesn't take weekends off, apparently the people at the CDC who have nothing to do most of the year still get weekends off.

You should fully expect these mortality numbers to improve every single day that testing is done and the results are updated.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

It's a little like the Spanish Flu. The case fatality rate (#deaths/#infected) is widely quoted as anything from 2-10%, but in reality nobody knows because they didn't have tests back then. All they could do is look at symptoms. So the ACTUAL case fatality rate might have been much lower. In reality, we will never know. But even with a lower case fatality rate, because it was so infectious it still killed a lot of people.

I think some people around here may think that I'm only trying to rub everyone's face in this and/or I'm off my nutter in conspiracy theory land. I think a lot of that had to do with my refusal to believe that AIDS is real.

I never denied that COVID was real. But from the beginning I've said that it was blown way out of proportion, and at this point many people's lives have been drastically effected to the point where a Republican president and Congress is about to cut a half a Trillion worth of checks in a desperate attempt to cover the short-term losses and complete upheaval of 320+ American's lives because of a severe overreaction.

Any way this pans out at this point, Trump loses. Maybe not the election. Time will tell about that. But the Stock Market has been crippled, and unemployment rates for the short term are projected by some experts now to rise to as much as 20%, despite the fact that Trump was overseeing the lowest unemployment rate on record in 50 years.

The Legacy Media is going to smear him until election day over this, and when COVID blows over and isn't nearly as serious as they said it was going to be, they're going to forget all about the fact that they started this shit, they roasted him on a daily basis for how he was handling it and forced him into the position we're all in now, and at least half the country is going to believe every single word of it.

Probably more than half this time, and possibly enough to get him out of office, because a lot of people who were going to vote to re-elect him might still be out of a job or looking at a devastated 401k.

The only possible good that can come out of this all in the long term is severe limits from this day forward on any immigration, and bringing back loads of manufacturing jobs in many different sectors to ensure that we're never reliant on China or any other semi-hostile nation for the stuff we need on a day to day basis.

But that's only if they follow through with any of that. And if a Democrat gets elected as president, none of it will be followed through with at all after the whole thing is over.

Open borders for all at that point.

California orders statewide shelter in place to slow spread of COVID-19

by: Alliz Clavijo

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered a statewide ‘shelter in place’ order on Thursday afternoon to limit the spread of COVID-19.

The order comes into force Thursday evening.

In a letter to President Donald Trump, Gavin said: “We project that roughly 56 percent of our population — 25.5 million people — will be infected with the virus over an eight week period.”

In the announcement Thursday, Newsom promised that grocery stores will remain open, kids can still play outside, and food can still be picked up at restaurants.

This is a developing story. Stay with us for further updates.

According to Time, it's not so lenient...

https://time.com/5806477/what-is-shelter-in-place/

In California, officials in the Bay Area introduced some of the U.S.’s most stringent restrictions by announcing a “shelter-in-place” mandate on Monday, which affects nearly 7 million people across six counties. Since Tuesday, residents affected have been required to stay inside and can go out only for necessities. For now, the mandate will last for three weeks, until April 7.

“This is a critical intervention to reduce harm from the spread of the coronavirus in our community,” reads a guide to the mandate from the city of San Francisco. “This is a mandatory order.”

Hey... At least we're not China, and we're not a Communist Government (at least not yet)...

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/16/asia/coronavirus-xi-wuhan-anger-intl-hn

Quote:

Now, as the number of new reported cases in China slows to a trickle, millions of residents are still restricted by the government to their homes; they're not even allowed to go outside to shop for groceries. Instead, the residents CNN spoke to said they have to rely on designated neighborhood committees to make group orders for daily necessities -- often at a higher price.

Maybe somebody should let the Bernie Bros and everybody in NYC that voted for AOC know about this.

Pretty sure they're going to get the memo in New York if Andrew Cuomo goes back on his word and decides to put the same restrictions in place for the state that Commiefornia just did.

Well, let's say there was a major earthquake and widespread looting was happening at night. Would you object to a nighttime curfew?

Nature has a way of throwing us major curves that don't fit into ideological paradigms. Quite honestly, you seem more concerned with Trump's reelection than with the health and life of many of your fellow citizens.

It's not fair: Trump has fended off major attacks against him concocted by the deep state. Every major criticism of Trump has been false. He should have been able to coast to election on the (slightly) improved economy, and for simply having withstood the false allegations and fake news for three years. He should have been able to bring up the results of various investigations into Comey, Clapper, and Biden etc on the way to November elections. But now the news cycle has been enitrely hijacked by COVID-19, nobody cares about Russia!Russia! anymore, and he has a NEW challenge.

Well, that's life. Sometimes it hands you a shit sandwich even if you've done everything right, like I did when I was pregnant. You have to make the best of the situation.

FWIW I don't think people will blame Trump for the economic fallout. What they WILL blame him for is a major portion of families seeing grandma and grandpa die, while Trump did nothing. This is a major challenge; and this is where leaders prove their worth, or not. The Chinese ideogram for "crisis" is composed of "danger" and "opportunity". That is where Trump is.

Now,"shelter in place" and other restrictions are only TEMPORARY measures. There'sno way in hell you can stomp out the virus that way, because the moment you relax the measures it will start to spread again. What has to happen is that a much better program of TESTING has to occur. That way you don't have to restrict everyone, only some. After that, someone needs to find successful treatments for this virus. There are several in the works, and - in addition, altho this will happen much later - vaccines are also being developed. Any imposition of controls that don't directly addres the pandemic, or their extension beyond when "the next step" might reasonably be expected should be suspect.

Just as an aside, it looks to me like Trump might be relying on the military rather than on the deep state. I find The Patriot Act and the RUSSIA!RUSSIA! accusation (which allowed the ce nsorship of the internet) far more pernicious than overt military action. Lockdowns might be disruptive but they have a purpose. Censorship, universal surveillance, false accusations, media bias, trial by rumor, gun confiscation, etc etc have all of the hallmarks of a powergrab, and we've seen the deep state do that already; and they didn't need a virus as an excuse.

There's no evidence of that yet.

The testing that has already been done has shown a much smaller mortality rate than was being thrown around before, and that number is only going to go down as more people get tested. We'll never know the true numbers because there is no way to know if all of the people who are testing negative didn't already have it and recover from it.

We don't know what happened in Italy yet. Compared to the rest of the world, that is an anomaly. It would suit you well to remember that and stop freaking out about the unknown until there are more facts.

Because right here in the united states, 150 people died so far since this started.

Today, 1,232 people in the US will die from smoking related illnesses.

Today, 82 people in the US will die of the flu.

Today, 102 people in the US will die in a fatal car accident.

Between the three of those causes of death combined, nearly 10 times as many people will die today than have died of the Coronavirus so far, and another 1,400 will die every single day for the rest of the year. And every day next year, and the next, and the next...

Italy is NOT an anomaly. China and Iran have the same experience. Iran doesn't freely share information, but top Iranian officials and clerics are keeling over at a high rate, so one can imgaine the same happening in the population.China didn't build 16 pop-up hospitals in Hubei and (at one point) lock down half of its population for shits and giggles, yanno. China tried to warn us that this was a killer virus as early as mid January, and Trump shut down travel from China Jan 30ish. After that he followed the policies of the local officials in Wuhan: Minimize the problem, pillory anyone who might say otherwise, and do nothing. Here we are in mid-March, and people are finally waking up to the problem.

I don't know why you keep thinking this like a bad cold. And the problem is, if you wait until it gets bad in one more nation (like three examples of people keeling over in droves aren't enough already?) or you wait for definitive indication of a problem in your nation, at the rate this spreads it's already too late. A two-week delay is too much.

Glad that Newsome did what he did, altho he too was probably too late. Nations and states that take early action can look at nations and states that didn't, and see what their futures might have been.

There are reasons why Italy has such a high deah rate: the population is aged, and they live intergenerationally. So mom,or dad, or kid got the virus and grandma and grandpa got nailed.

We don't live intergenerationally but our 60+ population is either out and about, just as exposed to the virus as anyone (maybe like YOUR parents, SIX?) or sequestered way in "old folks homes" which might be worse.

Yes. It IS an anomaly.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries

Even worst case numbers (which is what we have now because they haven't been testing much yet), the average death rate is 4.2% globally. And that's only so high because of these very early numbers coming out of a few countries that you mention without the REAL numbers that won't even approach being legitimate until millions of people are tested.

It might be hard to get the tests rolling out, but it's pretty difficult to trip over corpses.

I wouldn't go by the US numbers on this site until the CDC updates their own site here either:

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.ht
ml

(It says that they will update at NOON every weekday, but they don't specify what time zone, so apparently it's not my NOON).

But according to the first site I posted, the current counts are upped to 16,315 confirmed cases and 220 deaths. Up from the CDC data yesterday of 10,442 and 150.

If the numbers from the first site are what the CDC is going to report today, that's a drop from 1.44% to 1.35%, and they've only tested less than 6,000 people more than were tested yesterday.

If 250,000 people happen to be walking around with it now in America, that number drops to .08%, which is less than the flu. If a Million people already have it, it drops to .02%.

That's not even considering all the people who will be tested who will come up negative because they already have it and recovered and didn't even know it.

Quit the bullshit, and don't even put any stock into any of these numbers until a million people are tested.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Yesterday I went back, first thing in the morning. Chili with beans was back in stock and full, but all the peanut butter was wiped out. The entire frozen food locker was empty (no beef, no vegetables). Milk was wiped out. No bread.

Went to the dollar store after that and although the store as a whole didn't look nearly as bad, toilet paper and towels were gone as well as any hand sanitizers. Surprisingly, the ingredients to make your own sanitizers were still in stock. I know that Amazon was sold out of all of that, so it looks like the DIYers haven't raided all the dollar stores yet."

Do you folks know what a virus is?

Only 2 days ago, probably after posting death and infected numbers online:

KIKI:

"I was running errands today, and everybody seems to be doing their best to comply with best practices, but they're all doing something different!

At AAA where I went to re-up my car registration, they were asking people at the door if they were healthy before they let you in. And the stanchions were set WAY back from the counter, but there was no 'social distancing' for people in line. But then there were hardly any lines.

Then I went shopping at Whole Foods. It's kind of a long drive, so I go maybe every 6 to 8 weeks and stock up on things I can't get anywhere else. There was someone standing at the door asking if you were healthy but people were wandering in anyway. Despite that, it was relatively empty. And BOY! were there a lot of empty shelves!

Then I went to Trader Joe's. They had someone spritzing everybody's hands with sanitizer, and another person wiping the cart handles with sanitizing wipes before you went in. And they made sure of it! No spritz, no cart-handle wipe, no entry!! OTOH the spritz was really volatile and the handle wipe one perfunctory swipe. So while I appreciate their intentions and diligence, I'm not sure it does much good. Anyway, the store was empty as well, along with a crap-ton of empty shelves. But no social distancing in lines, and none between the cashier and patron."

Damn! Peoples was everywhere! But they looked okay to me, and since infected people have a red light over their heads I knew I was okay... derrrrrrrrrr....

CDC UPDATE:

Yes. Just as I suspected, the numbers from another site would be different than what the CDC is reporting.

Looks like the CDC updates the page every weekday around NOONish...

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.ht
ml

3/19/2020:
Confirmed Cases: 10,442
Deaths: 150
Mortality Rate: 1.44%

3/20/2020:
Confirmed Cases: 15,219
Deaths: 201
Mortality Rate: 1.32%

Yup. The number is going down. Just like I said it would. And even more than the numbers posted on the worldwide site was saying.

Expect that Mortality Rate to fall faster than the DOW Jones once the tests really ramp up.

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-03-19/here-are-the-new-r
ules-as-newsom-orders-all-californians-to-stay-at-home

What stays open:

Pharmacies
Food: Grocery stores, farmers markets, food banks, convenience stores, takeout and delivery restaurants
Banks
Gas stations
Laundromats/laundry services
Essential state and local government functions including law enforcement and offices that provide government programs and services.

What is closed:

Bars and nightclubs
Entertainment venues
Gyms and fitness studios
Public events and gatherings
Convention Centers
Dine-in restaurants

Under the city’s new order, officials said residents are permitted to:

Go to the grocery store;
Go to the pharmacy to pick up medications and other healthcare necessities;
Go to medical appointments (check with your doctor or provider first);
Take a walk, ride your bike and be in nature for exercise — just keep at least six feet between you and others in the community;
Walk your pets and take them to the veterinarian if necessary;
Help someone to get necessary supplies.

Residents are not allowed to:

Go to work unless providing essential services as defined by the order;
Visit friends and family if there is no urgent need;
Maintain less than six feet of distance from others when you go out;
Travel to or from a job outside the city, unless to perform essential activities;
Travel to or from a vacation home outside the city;
Visit loved ones in a hospital, nursing home, skilled nursing facility or other residential care facility.

These are considered essential services:

City/county government services

Healthcare providers

Food and grocery service

Hardware stores and nurseries

Plumbers, electricians, exterminators, custodial/janitorial workers, handyman services, funeral home workers and morticians, moving services, HVAC installers, carpenters, landscapers, gardeners, property managers, private security personnel and others who provide services to maintain the safety, sanitation and essential operation of properties and other essential activities

Banks

Organizations and businesses that provide food, shelter, social services and other necessities of life for economically disadvantaged or otherwise needy individuals (including gang prevention and intervention and domestic violence agencies)

Laundromats/laundry service

Newspapers, magazines, television, radio, podcasts and other media services

Educational institutions, including public and private K-12 schools, colleges, and universities — for purposes of facilitating distance learning or performing essential functions provided that social distancing of six feet per person is maintained to the greatest extent possible

Please note: this isn't China. Barricades haven't been set up on the streets with armed guards enforcing these orders. Drones don't fly the skies taking pictures to feed into the 'social credit' AI system to identify malefactors. People who are suspected of being positive aren't dragged from their homes by force to be put into mass quarantine camps. No one will be arrested for going grocery shopping and buying candy instead. And so forth.

Jack you're a stupid donkey's asshole. Those numbers are ONLY the people the CDC itself tested. They don't track states or other laboratories that do their own testing because no one is required to report the results to them.

And why the FUCK are you talking about mortality rate? You can't even figure out how to do that simple calculation! You tried TWICE to make some kind of non-point, AND FAILED.

GSTRING: #SHUTTHEFUCKUP

I only shop for groceries or go out for necessities (like, to the pharmacy or to mail some random bill payments) and I only do that once a week. I no longer do our usual weekly restaurant thing with dear daughter, which is a shame because it's to help her socialize, but also stopped her participation in a gym program - another shame, as it was also to help her learn how to socialize without mom or dad present. I'm not running out every day to pick up something I forgot the day before. I use a mask, which not only protects ME, it actually does a better job of protecting EVERYONE ELSE. I have given a few masks to pharmacy clerks.

When you've stayed at home for a whole week or two, then you can tell me about it. Otherwise #SHUTTHEFUCKUP

Later in the same White House briefing, top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci said in reality the US is behind on testing capabilities because many Americans don't have easy access to tests.

I've worked at home for the last 10 years - so yeah, let me tell YOU all about it... Gawd, what a dunce.

So you went out yesterday, went all over the place as if you were trying to spread the virus or catch it, you had your whiny excuses, BUT TODAY, right after your gov shuts all of California down and tells you something that was great advice a week ago, to stay home, and overnight you are preaching about what you couldn't listen to the day before. Just own it. You couldn't take someone else's advice until you had no choice and now you want to act like you were an early champion of the idea.

Are you sure you aren't a professional clown, because you sure do make me laugh.
