Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

no Russia threats detected by US intelligence agencies in 2020 election ...

Quote:

Joint Statement from DOJ, DOD, DHS, DNI, FBI, NSA, and CISA on Ensuring Security of 2020 Elections

While at this time we have no evidence of a compromise or disruption to election infrastructure that would enable adversaries to prevent voting change vote counts or disrupt the ability to tally votes, we continue to vigilantly monitor any threats to U.S. elections.

The U.S. government will defend our democracy and maintain transparency with the American public about our efforts. An informed public is a resilient public. Americans should go to trusted sources for election information, such as their state and local election officials. We encourage every American to report any suspicious activity to their local officials, the FBI, or DHS.

That is funny because Microsoft said Iranians are the new Russians for 2020, yesterday:

"Iranians tried to hack U.S. presidential campaign in effort that targeted hundreds"
www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2019/10/04/iran-tried-hack-us-presid
ential-candidates-journalists-effort-that-targeted-hundreds-microsoft-finds

An effort believed to be tied to the Iranian government attempted to identify, attack and breach email accounts belonging to a U.S. presidential campaign, government officials and journalists, according to new data unveiled by Microsoft, highlighting the continued global security threats that loom over the fast-approaching 2020 election.

The intrusion observed by Microsoft, spearheaded by an outfit it calls Phosphorus, made more than 2,700 attempts to identify personal email addresses that belonged to the company’s customers over a 30-day period between August and September, 241 of which were then attacked. Four were compromised, but they do not belong to the presidential campaign or government officials, according to the tech giant.

Reuters and other news media outlets reported Friday that the hackers targeted President Trump’s campaign.

Microsoft said it notified the customers attacked and has worked with those whose accounts were compromised to secure them. It declined to disclose the names of the account holders, including the presidential campaign that had been targeted. Microsoft declined to comment beyond a blog post disclosing the news Friday.

I'm still trying to figure out EXACTLY what the Russians were supposed to have done and how it changed one vote in the 2016 election.

To date, nothing has ever been shown. No evidence.

They allegedly bought, through dummy puppet companies, that a few thousand dollars of ads on some social media platforms.

FB specifically offered to scan likes and shares of content on member accounts to inform people what, if any, Russian inspired propaganda made its way into their pages.

My result was 0 %.

It's such an obvious head fake and red herring to claim there was Russian interference.

Can't believe we're so damn gullible.

While the Committee does not know with confidence what Moscow's intentions were, Russia may have been probing vulnerabilities in voting systems to exploit later. Alternatively, Moscow may have sought to undermine confidence in the 2016 U.S.elections simply through the discovery of their activity. --

Same here. I mean it's not like government officials ever get their cell phones hacked, or put emails on unsecured servers, thank god!

People the world over are amazingly naive about how much damage Russian/Chinese/Xcountry hacking did and can do. That's the beauty of it, right? Most people have never even looked at line of code, let alone understand how computers and networks work. Trump - the dolt - believes the story about Ukraine physically stealing the/a DNC server. Goddamn idiot.
Plus, Russia is really f*cking good at it. You think they TPTB would actually tell us if any of our power grids were compromised? Fortunately for us, there's more money to be had in hacking Yahoo and running little blackmail scams than taking on the US Gov. At least for now. They got their guy, didn't they?

This from the same folks who used a DNC + Hillary campaign funded hit piece, with help of foreign assets AND Russian intelligence as 'proof' that was taken to the FISA court and launched 4 illegal warrants.

He's not wrong, ya know, but I've never heard it put like that.

DNC server was claimed to have been hacked. We were told, with out any evidence, that all these US intel agencies all agree.... it was the Russians.

But no one but Crowdstrike ever inspected the DNC server. Which is a company founded by a UKRANIAN oligarch. Not the FBI, not the CIS, NSA, FEC... NO ONE from the US gov't ever came in contact w/ that physical server. To this very day.

I bet you laughed at the claims by Trump that his offices were " wire tapped ", yet what did we find out? His offices were indeed surveilled by the FBI. Trump's just right, and you're going to have to admit it.

At least one GOP Senator understands network security: In the Senate, Republican Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee blocked requests for votes on election security legislation. Senators' legislative requests require unanimous support, so any one senator can stand in the way.

BTW - Rap is right.

Not a single US "intelligence" agency ever had possession of, or even looked at, Clinton's server. Everything we've been told comes from Crowdstrike, with only 2 intelligence agencies concurring and 1 somewhat concurring.

As for Crowdstrike "The firm’s CTO and co-founder, Dmitri Alperovitch, is a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, a think tank with openly anti-Russian sentiments that is funded by Ukrainian billionaire Victor Pinchuk, who also happened to donate at least $10 million to the Clinton Foundation."

In fact, the whole 'DNC hacking' narrative has serious flaws.

I dare say, this may be worthy of adding to my sig, just below the Chrissisall quote.

Mark it on the calendar, everyone!

But, to the real point, from the link above...

" According to an affidavit filed for Stone's defense by Binney, the speed transfer rate and the file formatting of the DNC data indicate that they were moved on to a storage device, not hacked over the Internet. In a rebuttal, Stone's prosecutors said that the file information flagged by Binney "would be equally consistent with Russia intelligence officers using a thumb drive to transfer hacked materials among themselves after the hack took place." In an interview with RealClearInvestigations, Binney could not rule out that possibility. But conversely, the evidence laid out by Mueller is so incomplete and uncertain that Binney's theory cannot be ruled out either. The very fact that DoJ prosecutors, in their response to Binney, do not rule out his theory that a thumb drive was used to transfer the material is an acknowledgment in that direction.

It is funny how the Huffington Post came to a different conclusion after reading the same FBI post that 1kiki is quoting:

Federal Officials Warn Russia, China And Iran Want To Interfere In The 2020 Election
www.huffpost.com/entry/2020-election-interference_n_5dc1f22de4b0f5dcf8

Foreign adversaries may use social media campaigns, disinformation operations and cyberattacks to impact 2020 elections, federal officials warned.

Foreign adversaries like Russia, China and Iran “will seek to interfere in the voting process or influence voter perceptions” in the 2020 election, the nation’s top law enforcement and intelligence officials warned in a rare joint statement on Tuesday.

The statement said that foreign countries “may try to accomplish their goals through a variety of means, including social media campaigns, directing disinformation operations or conducting disruptive or destructive cyber-attacks on state and local infrastructure.”

The joint statement said the federal government was working “to identify threats, broadly share information, and protect the democratic process.” Many of the officials named in statement were put in place by President Donald Trump, who has downplayed the impact of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

WASHINGTON ? Attorney General William Barr, Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin McAleenan, Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire, FBI Director Christopher Wray, U.S. Cyber Command Commander and NSA Director Gen. Paul Nakasone, and CISA Director Christopher Krebs today released the following joint statement:

“Today, dozens of states and local jurisdictions are hosting their own elections across the country and, less than a year from now, Americans will go to the polls and cast their votes in the 2020 presidential election. Election security is a top priority for the United States government. Building on our successful, whole-of-government approach to securing the 2018 elections, we have increased the level of support to state and local election officials in their efforts to protect elections. The federal government is prioritizing the sharing of threat intelligence and providing support and services that improve the security of election infrastructure across the nation.

In an unprecedented level of coordination, the U.S. government is working with all 50 states and U.S. territories, local officials, and private sector partners to identify threats, broadly share information, and protect the democratic process. We remain firm in our commitment to quickly share timely and actionable information, provide support and services, and to defend against any threats to our democracy.

Our adversaries want to undermine our democratic institutions, influence public sentiment and affect government policies. Russia, China, Iran, and other foreign malicious actors all will seek to interfere in the voting process or influence voter perceptions. Adversaries may try to accomplish their goals through a variety of means, including social media campaigns, directing disinformation operations or conducting disruptive or destructive cyber-attacks on state and local infrastructure.

While at this time we have no evidence of a compromise or disruption to election infrastructure that would enable adversaries to prevent voting, change vote counts or disrupt the ability to tally votes, we continue to vigilantly monitor any threats to U.S. elections.

The greatest means to combat these threats is a whole-of-society effort.”

Wanna know what is really funny? Russia, China, Iran, North Korea… And anyone else who wanted to have open access to our secretary of states home closet server, which she wasn’t even supposed to have in the first place. That is comedy gold right there.

Want to know the unfunny part? It’s how the deep state establishment types keep parroting the same phrases and words over and over. But what they never tell us is exactly how all these foreign bad guys plan to “undercut our democracy“.

To be honest, our government and its shady, corrupt actions do far more than any flash video appearing on the dark web that nobody sees.

Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen
