Well, republicans are no different, from lawmakers with 'wide stances' in the stalls to those who like to take long hikes (otherwise known as hooking up with mistresses). How about the famous lawmaker who took his mistress to the Bill Clinton adultery impeachment while his wife was being treated for cancer?

Neither party should be trying to put the other in the pillory over an absence of morals. And both parties are equally two-faced.

You mean Newt Gingrich, who married that ' mistress ' and has been married to her ever since ?

Not sure that qualifies as married folks sleeping w/ 2 staffers or co-workers at the same time ,while all are still married.

Of course, I did say " D.C. ", but yeah, the #NeverTrumpers include the GOP as well. They're in no position to judge.

Bad enough that Page was sleeping w/ Strzok, who changed the language on Hillary's report, while Page was " editing " the report on Flynn, when she wasn't even IN the interview. All while sleeping w/ CNN contributor McCabe.

Honestly, who didn't she sleep with in the FBI ?

* Enough w/ this sanctimonious crap about Trump smearing the good reputation of the very FINE professionals at the FBI. Bullshit. THEY beclown themselves, and we don't even see the tip of the iceberg.

I'm down with Trump. I wasn't when he was first running, but he was better than the alternative.

But in the last 3 years I've watched the Legacy Media fall apart and countless politicians and beaurocrats get fired, resign, or quit during this administration and it's wonderful.

Fuck all of them.

I'm sure Trump is corrupt as hell too. Don't give a shit. He's getting stuff done that politicians on both sides have been lying about doing for decades now.

Well, it seems you excuse Gingrich because he made on honest woman out of his mistress. But when his wife was in the hospital for cancer surgery while he was hooking up, what did he make her? When he put his mistress in the gallery to watch while he berated Clinton over adultery, what did he make himself?

I am laughing at anyone trying to make this an apples to apples comparison. Newt did indeed marry his mistress. But he never to my knowledge signed up for a wife swapping site. And no, Clinton was not impeached because of his adultery. It was because of his perjury. My God, how many years will take before you admit that?

And I am criticizing everyone of the FBI who slept around while married. As far as I know, Lisa is the only one who slept with two other married people. Do you have more information about any of that? Please share.

There is no double standard here. Whether it is Katie Hill, Peter, Lisa, or Andrew… These are the “vaunted, austere“ DC elites who are telling us how to live our lives and what we should be paying attention to.

Come on, Rappy...

There's no way you can legitimately criticize any FBI employees for sleeping around on their spouses when we all know that Trump has done it.

That's right, idiot lefties that post here. I know he did it. I'm usually 50/50 on just about everything, but I'm confident that Trump fucked around on his wife.

I just don't give a shit is all. Because they all do. Even the women.

That just comes with the job. Politicians are power hungry and successful and getting that power. Power is attractive. Money is attractive. And all of these jagoffs on either side are corrupt to the bone and have very little morals. Anybody who doesn't automatically assume that a man or woman who is a politician isn't sleeping around on their spouse is naive.

"But he never to my knowledge signed up for a wife swapping site."

Did I mention that? No, I did not. The fact is - and it's a proven and admitted fact - he was sleeping with a mistress while he was still married. Dood. That's the point. It's adultery no matter who does it. If you find adultery inexcusable for a democrat, or worse, a female democrat, it's also inexcusable for your republican heroes. But if you have a gaping double standard, as you seem to, then you're exposing your tribalism and lack of basic integrity (ie you'll give up your values for your tribe).

So whether it is Katie Hill, Peter, Lisa, or Andrew ... or Gingrich ... These are the “vaunted, austere“ DC elites who are telling us how to live our lives and what we should be paying attention to.

Rap, it's called a STRAWMAN argument - which is to pretend to address someone's argument with an irrelevant answer. "A straw man is a form of argument and an informal fallacy based on giving the impression of refuting an opponent's argument, while actually refuting an argument that was not presented by that opponent. One who engages in this fallacy is said to be "attacking a straw man"." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man

In other words - I said that Gingrich, by hooking up with a mistress (adultery), was doing exactly the same thing you criticized democrats for doing. (see all of your posts above, which had no mention of wife-swapping and quotes here: "Rep. Katie Hill will resign from Congress after it was revealed that she had inappropriate sexual relationships with staffers in her office and on her congressional campaign"; "REPORT: SHOCKING FBI LOVE TRIANGLE — FBI Director McCabe Had Affair With Top FBI Lawyer Lisa Page, Who Also Had Affair With FBI Boss Strzok"; "D.C. is Sodom and Gomorrah all in one. From waitress sandwiches w/ Ted Kennedy to Cigar abuser Bill to Al Franken to tax payer funded slush fund to keep sex abuse scandals paid for and out of the news to everyone's doing everyone"; "Not sure that qualifies as married folks sleeping w/ 2 staffers or co-workers at the same time ,while all are still married.")

You brought up wife-swapping to refute my point. You engaged in a strawman argument.

BTW, your snark doesn't help either your argument or your reputation especially regarding being able to have an honest argument, or to maintain a single set of standards instead of double standards.

Yeah it does. Because I refuse to compare apples to apostrophes. Standards are different because the scenarios are different. Baseball is not governed by the rules of Soccer.

Point of fact, ( now former ) Rep. Hill was carrying on multiple affairs, with and w/ out her husband's knowledge and participation, while both were engaged an a wife swapping ring, as she PAID her staffers illegally as she defrauded the gov't.

By all means, try to equivocate that, at your leisure.

People cheat. Big deal. It happens every day. Ain't none of my business.

The only "plus" I'd say about this is that it's just another example of neither side having a monopoly on morality. Too many idiots on either side actually believe this is the case while ignoring all the immoral acts that they themselves commit on a regular basis as human beings.

Omar and Hill.

Also, we now know that McCabe was cheating with Page, who is also cheating with Strzok...

Those are relevant to the current administration, nothing to do with stuff that happened 20 years ago.

You're defending the Democrats by claiming both do it, thus it's no big deal. You're attempting to diminish Hill and Omar's actions by diluting them down with " yeah, but they do it too " stuff.

It literally has no place in this thread, or in connection to this topic, yet you insist in reacting this way.

What bias, man?

The only people posting in this thread seem to generally agree on most issues.

The point, that you seem to be missing, is that this is a topic that can't legitimately be argued as a win on either side, yet the Democrats always find a way to argue that they have a monopoly on morals.

I love seeing stories like this because it proves my point. But it's not constructive to go the other way with it.

I've been skipping this thread because this kind of discussion bores me to tears, but checked in curious as to why it was going so long ...

RAPPY, try as I might, I don't understand your point.

Are Katie Hill's actions "worse than" ... say ... smacking your wife or child around? "Worse than" pedophilia? "Worse than" adultery (which technically is what "wife swapping" is, except "wife swapping" is done with partner's knowledge instead of behind their back)?

Or do you see this as hypocrisy on the part of Democrats, who you claim are somehow telling us how to live our lives? But I will point out that Dems in general DON'T tell people how to run their sex lives, and I doubt that Katie Hill specifically ever got up on the pulpit ... or a talk show ... to extoll the virtue purity and the sanctity of marriage, so I don't see any partisan or personal hypocrisy ON THIS ISSUE. If anything, it's the GOPers who tend to run on personal morality and who would seem to be the bigger hypocrites when they break their vows.

So really, why your undies in a knot?

Yanno I understand the impulse to criticize people who're doing something wrong, and the impulse to point out that it's being done by somebody of the "other" tribe ...

...but it's sheer double standard to fail to criticize YOUR OWN PARTY FOR DOING THE SAME THING, OR WORSE. You know what I used to post: goose sauce = gander sauce. ("What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander." That means that the same rules apply to men as women ... and to Repubs as well as Dems, blacks as whites, rich as poor etc.)

But it the realm of politicians, when I judge them I'm giving them a PERFORMANCE REVIEW, just like I would give a performance review to one of my employees. That means I judge them by their on-the-job performance, not what happens at home, unless of course they commit crimes. (But that's where the courts are supposed to get involved.) So personally, I don't care what happens between consenting adults as long as no one gets hurt, that's NMP (not my problem).

That's one of the reasons why I find Dems busting Trump's chops over extramarital affairs pointless. OTOH, Bill Clinton committed rape, which is a crime.

Back to Katie Hill .... what's the problem, again? And why would you criticize her but defend others for doing essentially the same thing, or worse?

*****

Oh btw KIKI, as I recall, didn't that politician who went "hiking" hook up with his mistress in Argentina?

Bias is bias.

I love how some are trying to drag this out with long winded soliloquies and monologues about how everybody does stuff, this is no big deal… Instead of actually dealing with the issues at hand. This exact same stuff that happened in the media when Clinton was poking Monica with the cigar. But when Trump has a consensual relationship was a porn star who went to him… He’s the worst person in the world!

I’ve said my piece. If you want to try to pretzel yourself around the issue with multiple paragraphs, have at it. I’m done.

Yanno, I'm not defending democrats. It's just that your politically-driven double standard is ridiculously obvious. If you criticized adulterers from BOTH parties - or at a minimum just say that those republican adulterers committed adultery, which in fact they did - you'd look a lot more credible. And you'd look at lot more in tune with factual reality instead of echo-chamber reality.

Welp, the issues of who is sleeping with whom aren't so much the problem as the lies being told to cover it up and also the TAXPAYER MONIES which are being used / misused to lavish those sex kittens and cats through fraud.

Like what is happening w/ Ilhan Omar. And did happen with Katie Hill. And Ds and Rs who BOTH used for a slush fund to keep their groping and raping out of the courts and on the QT.

Oh, sure. I won't argue any of that.

All I'm saying (and I think I speak for Sigs and Kiki here too) is that we shouldn't be going around claiming that Republicans haven't and still aren't doing the exact same kinds of things.

They're all gross.

As long as we recognize that and admit that now, we have the high ground when they bring up another post about a Republican doing it and pretending that only Republicans do it... Which you know is only a matter of time until they do.

I know you're an actual Republican. I'm not, and I think that Kiki and Sigs have at least one foot on the fence. We're in no way card carrying 2019 Democrats though, and we're surely not spouting any bias from that side.

I think you get what we're saying now though.

I am not a Republican.

Though the GOP may think they claim me, I give the party no monies. I am not a registered - ANYTHING. Save for ' voter '.

Long before McCain's treacherous ' thumbs down ' vote on killing ObamaCare, I had grown tired of the lies and deception of the GOP. Promises made, but never kept.

I've stated many times that I am a conservative libertarian, a constitutionalists, an admirer of the views of Ayn Rand, freedom of the Individual over the State...

Clarity.

I think it's important that it be known why I'm pointing out something and not just have everyone fall into the tired old Red vs Blue traps that are so damn easy to form on message boards and everywhere else.

It's a concept I learned from talk radio host Dennis Prager. "I prefer clarity over agreement"

if , Just for an example , I say I'm pro life, some may immediately assume it's because I'm a religious nut or that I'm a misogynist who thinks a woman's place is in the kitchen, barefoot, and having kids.

To clarify, I'm not a believer in any god/gods , nor do I think a woman is powerless to choose what she does w/ her body.

But at some point, a fetus is no longer HER body, but actually belongs to another unique individual, who has its own heartbeat and brain activity.

Thus ends the discussion of abortion in this thread. My example was for clarification purposes only.

Back to the thread, Hill and Omar aren't just scuzzy 2 timing whores who like sex w/ multiple partners, but are truly engaging in criminal activity while posing as some sort of paragons of virtue.

Yes, there are many hypocrites from both sides of the aisle, but when it becomes a criminal act and breaking of the people's trust, I say call 'em out.

I admit, this isn't a topic I'm glued to.

"Back to the thread, Hill and Omar aren't just scuzzy 2 timing whores who like sex w/ multiple partners, but are truly engaging in criminal activity while posing as some sort of paragons of virtue."

Omar and Hill - what laws did they break? For Omar, perhaps immigration laws? Hill, perhaps employer 'rules' against sleeping with subordinates, but afaik those aren't laws.

Hill resigns but I think Omar is by far the bigger violator of the two.

There's immigration laws, possible fraud w/ her education and marriage status, and now illegal payments to a lover.

But Omar is a POC, a woman, an immigrant, and part of the Squad, so I don't expect anything of substance to happen to her. Like many crooks in Congress, she'll stay untouched as long as she gets re-elected.

It's not about the sex.

Case could be made that Hill was coercing her staff to sleep with her and her husband under threat of ending their career. IDK if that's a path anyone wants to take, but she was paying them and sleeping them, with taxpayer or campaign funds.

Talk about fishing off the company pier.

Even if consent is given, there's still the appearance of impropriety and abuse of power. Teachers can't sleep w/ their students, and ( married ) employers can't sleep with their employees.

Unless you want to allow for multiple spouses, like ' some ' Mormons and Muslims...

Omar's in a far worse predicament. It's clear she's engaged and continues to engage in fraud, breaking of immigration laws, marrying her brother ( c'mon, don't tell me that's not a problem for anyone ) as well as campaign finance laws - paying her staff as she sleeps with them.
