I am trying to chase down some ancestry, and keep finding unclear data.
Wondering if anybody has better knowledge of how to translate.

Looking at George Rolle, Minister of Parliament, born 1486.
References say father was Capt Robert Rollo, born 1479.
And mother was Jonet Graham, born 1480 (married 1503).
Their other 4 children were born after they Wed and before Robert died in 1513.
I have difficulty believing Janet/Jonet gave birth at age 6.
I understand Robert could have sired at age 6, and I'm not concerned about the morphing of last name.
But the discrepancy of how these relations are listed in so many locations leaves me nonplussed and suspicious.

I suspect that some folk are just eager to force a link to ancestry with Kings, Queens, royalty.

Does as anybody know any tricks to explain this?

Thanks for any help.

I'm unclear from your post if you're trying to chase down your own ancestry or not.

I don't have any suggestions on how to go about doing that. I only have a warning against submitting your own DNA to any sites that tell you they will do that for you.

Nobody read the fine print when they did that for years, and now all of that info is in an alphabet agency database. An inevitable outcome which was obvious to anybody who put two seconds thought into it before mindlessly clicking the "I Agree" button.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

In modern civilisation looking back you are going back into very different times, a very different era. All these old guys kept records, the Anglican parish registers - the old Japan and Chinese monks across Asia, the Roman Catholics the Vatican, the old Jews, The National Parliment and Government Offices. There is an old page with a few numbers places dates and names on it. The Missionaries, old State supported hospitals and Orphan homes the old Soviet buildings and everyone has a connection somewhere and it has been recorded. A key here is asking some old guy some old archiver to interpret the data, let's imagine an old story. A story about a kid at say 7 or 8 becoming man of the house might not mean he's the Father, it could be an illness sweeps the town or the Dad and older brothers died in some war or a flu and all of a Sudden he's the Head Man of a Farm or Manor or something, a child can suddenly become a king or father of a house or an owner, someone got crushed by a horse suddenly a little cousin can instantly own a fanmily business or names quickly change.

Expect a few shocks, every history has skeletons, old secrets they wanted buried.

My ancestry.
In the 70s and 80s I had only gotten back a century or two on that branch. The oldest branch I got back was to 1604 in America.
But many took the torch after me, and recently another relative from that branch shared some files.
This branch is from my paternal grandmother's father. Her mother is the branch I went farthest back with, including a President.

Yes. And among these Royals, everybody marrying their cousin, mom, kidnapped rival, niece, etc.
But the repeated assertions that his mother was 6 years older than he just doesn't pan out for me.

With the Royals, I do expect to find more illegitimate offspring, from unnamed mistresses, but those are still biological lineage. I am suspecting George is not the biological issue of Robert.

The thing is, with all these cousins and half-sisters marrying, one of his offspring is likely to reproduce with another cousin who is biological descendant of the other anyhow. Finding info on people who were famous in their time is easier than finding the nobodies, but it doesn't mean the famous or powerful were the only people in the family who procreated.

I had already looked at various Kings and Royals, as a project, so not too surprised by that.

Well, I tried another search, and this time came up with something different.
It says Capt. Robert's eldest son was Andrew, not George. That is the first time I've seen that contradiction. Andrew was the first following marriage to Jonet.

Also, on this new search, the 2nd hit was this thread.

RUE

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

I can imagine some potential problems - the rich would want to bury skeletons, the poor might not be registered until many years after birth when the priest finally came around.

Even here in the US people born at home without some official recorder present - and that would include some old people, slave and farm ancestors, people belonging to isolated sects - would have no birth records. I can see how birth records could be scrambled.

FYI, I have been able to suss out some of the mess.

I still do not believe that a 6-year old boy and 5-year old girl living in different countries were the biological parents of a child.
But I've found several instances of cousins and such marrying, thereby bring back the biological lineage from a grandchild to a supposed ancestor.

I still have some hiccups and fallacies to sort through, but making some progress as time allows.
I think some person who assembled this data was not paying attention very well.
