You don't live in the US, or else you'd know that the reichwing commits the lion's share of terrorism here.

It is explicitly encouraged by Trump.

“WE ARE AT A TURNING POINT”: COUNTERTERRORISM EXPERTS SAY TRUMP IS INSPIRING A TERRIFYING NEW ERA OF RIGHT-WING VIOLENCE

“These are all extremist messages that I saw on Stormfront and other white-supremacist message boards 10 or 15 years ago,” says one former Homeland Security analyst. “Now they are being endorsed as policy by the president.”

The Trump administration has done little to counter the impression that it is soft on right-wing extremism. Even before Trump took office, his presidential transition team began drawing up plans to redirect national-security resources away from white supremacists to focus solely on Islamic terrorism. The main target of this effort was Countering Violent Extremism, an interagency task force created by Barack Obama in the wake of the Charleston Church shooting to help prevent acts of violence before they happen. In 2016, the Office of Community Partnerships, which housed C.V.E., boasted a full-time staff of 16, about 25 contractors, and a budget of $21 million. But the Trump White House was skeptical of the preventative approach. While the Anti-Defamation League estimates that white supremacists have committed 83 percent of extremist-related murders in the U.S. over the past decade, the administration wanted to keep the focus on radical Islamist groups. In 2018, the Office of Community Partnerships’ budget was slashed to less than $3 million and its headcount cut to eight. “Effectively, it no longer exists,” a former D.H.S. official told me, describing a “shift” away from “a comprehensive approach” to preventing radicalization and recruitment. “There were a number of new political appointees in the Trump administration who were not fully on board with the approach of the previous administration,” the former official said. “They didn’t want to understand it and some of them just blatantly disagreed with it.” (D.H.S. did not respond to a request for comment.)

Other sources I spoke with specifically identified Katharine Gorka, the wife of former Trump adviser Sebastian Gorka, as a driving figure behind efforts to de-prioritize white supremacist violence. Although Mr. Gorka was forced out of the White House in August 2017, Mrs. Gorka remains a full-time adviser for Kirstjen Nielsen, the secretary of Homeland Security, where she has reportedly played a critical role in shaping the administration’s counterterrorism agenda, including drafting reports to Congress on terrorism recruitment. Like her husband, Mrs. Gorka has been vocal in her criticism of Islam, reportedly raising concerns inside D.H.S. that their influence would mean fewer resources for combatting right-wing extremism. (A spokesperson for D.H.S. previously denied that Katharine Gorka is “pushing the department toward an Islamist-only approach to terrorism,” insisting that she champions “an all-forms-of-extremism approach.”)

Hmm... well, I'd say the USA deep state commits the lion's share of terrorism. Not only does it commit terrorist activities on its own - bombing and droning millions of civilians around the world - it also funds various terrorist groups like the "mujahideen", jihadists in the Middle East, contras and other right wing paramilitary groups in South and Central America etc. So, let's keep our priorities straight and start at the top with the largest number of victims.

But keeping with individual terrorists and terror attacks in the USA ... if I were to say that Muslims commit the most terror attacks in the USA ... should I then claim that Muslims are bad? If you were to claim that "right wing" groups (however you define them) commit the most murders, does that mean that everyone to the right of center is bad? If I were to show you that the Black Bloc advocates and practices terrorism, does that mean that everyone on the far left is a terrorist?

It's kind of like politicians ... I can name you one Republican Congressperson (Rand Paul) who generally takes a principled stand. I can possibly name a few more Democrats that I generally agree with. But that doesn't mean that [all] Democrats are better than [all] Republicans. I react to the individual politician instead of automtically lumping them in with their party. To lump people together is called PREJUDICE ... which literally means to PRE-JUDGE (pre= ahead of time, judice = judgment) people ahead of anything they might have done as individuals.

When someone commits a terrorist act they are, by definition, a terrorist. You might think that terrorism is justified because you agree strongly with their goals, but it doesn't make them any less of a terrorist.

I, personally, have a huge problem with terrorism as a tactic. When a group has to resort to terrorizing a population, it means they don't have strong support within that population and are simply attempting to impose control by violence and fear.

BTW ... I think individual terrorists should be dealt with as a CRIMINAL matter, not by manipulating the media or involving the military. Just as you can't fight war with war, you can't fight terrorism with terrorism.

Wow, now THAT ^^^^ is a deficient reply! And it took you a whole day to come up with it. Clearly, you can't even begin to address my points.

I think two things would alleviate 99% of any of these problems.

Stop referring to criminal activity as terrorism, as that glamorizes the acts and is exactly what the criminals were looking for in the first place.

Do like the UK does and refuse to post the name or the pictures of the criminals in any media whatsoever, to strip them of their 15 minutes of infamy, which is also what they were looking for in the first place.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Nope, doesn't matter...that is just to make the sheeple think they have a say in the uncontrollable. People that are deranged will do whatever makes them a hero in their own minds no matter what media does or doesn't do. There are over 200 THOUSAND people in this country alone that are in jail for life or over 50 years. That's a fuck-ton of psychopaths. There will ALWAYS be more psychopaths.

You're not a doctor, Wishy. I know you like to throw around prognoses as if you were, but I'm going to have to see some actual medical research backing up that there are over 200 thousand psychopaths locked up for over 50 years to life because of their mental illness.

I'm sure there are a lot of them, but I'm willing to bet that a moderate amount of that 200 thousand number you're stating were wrongfully accused, and wrongfully convicted. That alone has no bearing on your argument though, and you'd be right to say so. That means that however many got away with it are still out there.

I'd also be willing to bet that a lot of people who did, whatever they did, were people who temporarily snapped in the heat of the moment. That doesn't mean that they're necessarily psychopaths... and they're not who I'm talking about.

I'm talking about the ones like the people referenced in this thread. I'm talking about the Vegas shooter. I'm talking about the Columbine shooters. I'm talking about that kid that shot up a movie theater and killed a bunch of people. I'm talking about people who put a lot of planning into what they do. I'm talking about people who are delusional and believe they're sending a message to the world (like this guy with his nut-ball manifesto... or remember the Unibomber and his wack-job manifesto).

Of course you're never going to get rid of things like this completely. But a good deal of these people know that they're probably going to die going in, and they know that the media is going to cover the fuck out of it after they do whatever they do. Whether it's for the infamy, or getting a message out, for whatever reason they decided this was the only way they were going to make that happen. If our media didn't behave in such a gross sensationalist manner for the money when things like this did occur, and they refused to even show any pictures or mention the names of people who did things like this, then I believe it would drastically reduce the amount of large-scale, premeditated sprees... as well as any copycats.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

If you want to see something illustrating my point here, check out Nerdland, a Netflix "special", featuring Paul Rudd and Patton Oswalt.

I usually really like anything I've seen either of these two in. This movie disgusted me. One of those things that you wish you could unwatch after you've seen it.

Here's an alternative:
Call terrorism terrorism. Perhaps, if you're feeling really bold, dedicate some resources towards fighting it, rather than ignoring it, as Trump does now.

When Fighting Domestic Terrorism, You Get What You Pay For
The Trump administration has gutted the budget for fighting far-right extremists, making it harder to stop attacks like the Pittsburgh massacre.

Of course, Trump's not above making violence part of his shtick in the first place.

DID YOU JUST TRY TO RATIONALIZE AWAY 90% OF THE PEOPLE WHO MURDER AS NOT SO BAD OR COMPLETELY INNOCENT??

You do understand that for death row or life sentences they have to prove INTENT?

And do you even REMOTELY understand that killing ANYONE is the ultimate act of narcissism??

Of course not, you defend murderers and Sig defends rapists and child molesters.

The hell with BOTH OF YOU.

Talk about disgusting people

Every day you say something dumber than the day before...Amazing...

No. I just rationalized that most murders are not committed by psychopaths. Show me evidence that this isn't true, or STFU and go back to your cave.
