This weekend.

Le Pen (national populist), Macron (centrist), Fillon (center right), and Melenchon (far left) with other candidates and many, many undecided (last I checked, 30% undecided. That's unheard-of.)

The latest Paris attack may have given le Pen a boost, but since nobody will get over 50% there will certainly be a runoff.

Sometimes you own the libs. Sometimes, the libs own you.

Hopefully Trump's thinly-veiled support for Le Pen after the recent Paris terror attack will boost all the other candidates.

The nightmare scenario is a run-off between far-left Melenchon and nationalist Le Pen, which is what Signy is rubbing her hands hoping for.

It's all Le Pen.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/04/22/presidential-election-could
-lead-rioting-french-cities-intelligence
/

I was going to say that all it is going to take is one more Islamic attack to seal the deal, but that already happened.

Quote:

The report came just two days after a French jihadist claiming allegiance to the Islamic State (Isil) shot dead a policemen on the Champs Elysées avenue in Paris, bringing election campaigning to an early end and thrusting security issues back to the top of the political agenda.

Around 50,000 police officers and 7,000 soldiers will be deployed to protect voters around France on Sunday for the first round, which has turned into a four-way race between Ms Le Pen, Mr Mélenchon, the scandal-scarred conservative François Fillon, and the maverick centrist Emmanuel Macron.

An opinion poll conducted on Thursday and Friday showed Ms Le Pen and Mr Macron tied on 23 percent, ahead of Mr Mélenchon with 19.5 per cent and Mr Fillon on 19 per cent.

This shit almost writes itself. At this point, since I don't really believe anything anymore, I don't know if this was an actual terrorist attack or just a false flag operation.

Maybe if the far left hadn't had their way for so long and put everybody in the Western world in such a vulnerable position everywhere, things like this wouldn't be such a natural occurrence.

They fucked up. Plain and simple. They had all the power pretty much everywhere and look what they've done with it. Utopia? Hardly. People are vulnerable and they are scared.

Republicans didn't get Trump elected. The Democrats did. Same with Brexit. When the EU states start falling like dominoes this year, we know who to blame.

Doubtful. What I see is an "anti-establishment" vote. France is wracked with all kinds of divisions, just like the USA, and the traditional "establishment" parties don't seem to have cured France's ills.

I suppose it depends who you talk to on what people think "the cause" of France's problems are. Some, like le Pen, lay the blame on globalists and their resulting migration crises and globe-spanning system of competition, and would like to w/draw from the EU. Others see the problem as "sanctions against Russia" and would like to end those.

I can't say that I'm all that familiar with the candidates besides Marine le Pen (whom I've listened to two or three times) but I'm sure we'll hear a lot more about the runoff candidates later.

François Fillon’s victory over Alain Juppé in the presidential primary of the centre-right Republican Party leaves an avowed friend of Mr Putin as the favourite to occupy the Élysée after next spring’s election. (Mr Fillon’s most serious rival, the nationalist Marine Le Pen, has a yet more marked Moscow tilt.)

Mr Fillon’s Russophilia is born of conviction rather than expediency, and he does not hide his views.

And before you get all huffy and say that NOT ALL candidates share that opinion, I didn't say that ALL French people (and their preferred politicians) say that the problem is sanctions, just SOME of them.

I see you're doubling down on GEEBER's trolling.

I'm going to pretend you're too stupid to know better, rather than assume you're too sadistic to do better.

MEANWHILE - for everyone else who comprehends plain English, opinions polls put "Macron at 24 percent, Le Pen at 22 percent, Fillon at 20 percent and far-left Unsubmissive France’s Jean-Luc Mélenchon at 19 percent".

OUT OF THE FOUR TOP CANDIDATES, THREE WANT TO END SANCTIONS AGAINST RUSSIA. The only candidate who wants to keep the sanctions is Macron.

But if we're to believe GEEBERS - AND YOU - 61% of the French support anti-sanction candidates because they are, somehow, 'disloyal'. To what, or to whom, is something GEEBERS hasn't made clear. And I doubt you know, either.

Quote:

France's Election Canceled After Media Crowns Putin Next French Emperor
Europe should stop holding elections. Everyone already knows that Putin will win

Hey French people — are you excited to go to the polls on Sunday and choose your next president?

Of course not. All French citizens with a clue will stay home and count their baguettes, because they know that Vladimir Putin will be their next president.

This is what we are being told by our trusted media. And when have they ever been wrong? We rest our case.

France concerned over Russian interference in elections amid reports of hacking, fake news https://t.co/P7f2GX0Mpm via @AndrewOReilly84 pic.twitter.com/8otHDtw4Xq — Fox News (@FoxNews) April 21, 2017

"Vladimir Putin’s fortunes may be declining in the United States, but he is still well placed to win big in the French presidential election," writes Quartz, which apparently has double-checked the latest Gallup polls and knows that Putin has the French presidential election in the bag.

Here's the thing: Putin was slated to become France's next president months ago. The whole French election, starting with the primaries, has been a giant scam.

Again, we know this because our friends at Quartz say so:

Why is Europe even holding "elections" anymore? Everyone knows that Putin will win. For example, we keep seeing naive fools on Twitter talk about the so-called UK "general election" in May.

Stop wasting your time with these rubber-stamp formalities. Putin will be elected the next Queen of England. And Prime Minister. He will also be crowned the "beef eater" guy with the funny hat who guards London's famous torture tower or whatever.

Serious question: Is Europe really this fragile and insecure? One guy can systematically dismember the West's glorious "democratic" institutions?

Really makes you think.

Yes, the difference is that we (KIKI and I) believe that French citizens should be able to decide what their nation's goals are by themselves, while YOU have the unmitigated gall to judge them from afar on who YOU think is "loyal" (to the causes that YOU espouse) and who YOU think isn't.

So, if they're not sufficiently "loyal" (to you and your goals) in sufficient numbers, what are you going to do? Bomb them? Or will you be content to just call them all traitors to your cause?

Supposedly this one means a lot. Brexit did happen, and Le Pen wants out. I believe her when she says it.

Macron is her only real competition. He's an ex-banker globalist that wants to remain in the EU. He formed his own party and likes to pretend that he's a centrist, but he's the charismatic plant the rich liberals put in to face off against Le Pen and maintain the status quo.

The more important election will be in October in Germany. Either way this election goes I think in the long run will be good for the German election. Either Le Pen gets in and puts the crackdown on immigration or Macron gets in and the murder and rape continues.

You see here GEEBERS

SignyM SPECIFICALLY mentioned dropping sanctions against Russia as a policy distinction in the upcoming French vote.

To which you SPECIFICALLY replied "What loyal French man or women thinks that??".

To which I SPECIFICALLY pointed out that 3 of 4 lead candidates were for dropping the sanctions. And I later pointed out that those candidates represented almost 2/3 of French voters, and that it would be ludicrous to assume all of those people and all of those candidates were somehow 'disloyal'.

Are you being ludicrous and calling the overwhelming majority of the French 'disloyal'?

I ALSO pointed out that you seem to be completely clueless regarding to what, or to whom, the French are supposed to be 'loyal'.

Because you're calling them 'disloyal' for wanting to drop the sanctions, you seem to assume the French need to be loyal to the US deep state anti-Putin/ anti-Russia program. Rather than, say, loyal to France and French national interests.

But you're not so crazy, stupid and partisan to actually think the French owe loyalty to the US deep state. Are you?

I think GSTRING is just trolling to cover up the fact that he thought he could decide what the French should be loyal to. Of course, they should be loyal to HIS agenda!

And that's kind of the problem with a lot of people ... they think that somehow they get to decide what entire (other) nations should want, think, and do.

Arrogant much?

If we just approached others with a healthy SELF interest, instead of deciding what THEIR interests should be ... yanno, figure out what WE need and what WE want and then negotiate our best deal ... maybe we wouldn't wind up destroying so many nations in order to "save" them. And then causing so much blowback which only winds up hurting us.

I find it incomprehensible that people are so focused on what other countries are doing, and yet not be able to describe what WE should be doing. And what "we" really defines.

Holy shit - you just described yourself perfectly!!!!! "Arrogant much?" F8ck, that's all you have most times. In reality, you do want to tell France what to do and then lie about it here, "I just want the French to do what I want them to... oops, er, I mean, *be free* to decide for themselves... as long as they agree with me and that mean help Russia!" Of course Sanctions are on the list - le Pen is in Putin's le Pocket. How much money and other promises did he make her? She'd be stupid to resist after he made Trump president, wouldn't she?
Yep, I agree with SIX, you're delusional.

So it wouldn't be the EU's failed economic response to 2008, the Troika's high-handed way of dealing with debtor nations, the massive unemployment and under-employment, and the migrant crisis and terror attacks driving anti-establishmentarianism, it would be Putin, right?

Let's see you bring any sort of evidence that Putin did anything that you claim he did. Because if Putin actually managed to do all of the things that you're so afraid of, that would make Russia able to break our electoral security, bamboozle all 17 of our intelligence agencies, create a significant "fifth column" in the USA, UK, France and (for all I know) Sweden, Germany, Hungary, and the Netherlands from a relatively small expenditure, DESPITE our massive intelligence intervention.

The two major political parties are out. That would be like the Dems and the Repubs not making the ballot in November.

At least there will be a clear distinction for the next vote. Macron and Le Pen are on opposite sides of most major issues, so the French people will have a real choice. And Le Pen is no Trump- she has a solid political history. Unlike Macron, who is a complete (wealthy banker) newcomer to politics.

So let's see what the French people decide. It will be interesting. Whatever it is that they decide, I will NOT be calling them "disloyal". Stupid maybe, but not "disloyal". Jeez, what a douche.

Good. There won't be any reason to believe she's in bed with the EU because of that money after she initiates the proceedings for France to reinstate the Franc and leave the EU.

... the revelation that the former associate of her father she put in charge of the party, Jean-François Jalkh, told a scholar in 2000 that he did not accept evidence that the Nazis used the pesticide Zyklon B to murder Jews in the death camps.

Jalkh’s comments were published 12 years ago in an academic journal, but not widely known about until a reporter for the Catholic daily La Croix, Laurent de Boissieu, came across them on Tuesday.

I'd just like to point out here that nowhere in the article is there proof that Jalkh is a holocaust denier. The only "proof" of anything offered is that he did not believe that a specific pesticide was used to murder Jews in death camps.

I'm not saying that he isn't, in fact, a holocaust denier. I am saying that if they are going to say that about him they should need to show evidence that supports those allegations.

Jalkh himself has denied that this conversation ever took place, but Magali Boumaza claims that she still has a recording of the 3 hour interview she did for a dissertation years ago.

Make the tapes public, I say.

Meanwhile ... as GSTRING pounds hysterically on the voodoo-doll that he has made of Le Pen, fearfully trying to assure himself that it's really dead ...

Election Sunday. Everyone agrees that Macron will win, the only question is by how much. In a strange replay of the USA election, Macron's internal emails were hacked - and leaked - this time without Wikileaks. The mainstream French media has decided to embargo publication of any of the contents, and the French government has warned that publishing the contents could lead to criminal charges. Macron is busy playing the "Russia" card, but (as far as I can tell) without any evidence whatsoever that "Russians" (or "Ukrainians") were involved.

Quote:

French candidate Macron claims massive hack as emails leaked
By Eric Auchard and Bate Felix | FRANKFURT/PARIS

Leading French presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron's campaign said on Friday it had been the target of a "massive" computer hack that dumped its campaign emails online 1-1/2 days before voters choose between the centrist and his far-right rival, Marine Le Pen.

Macron, who is seen as the frontrunner in an election billed as the most important in France in decades, extended his lead over Le Pen in polls on Friday.

As much as 9 gigabytes of data were posted on a profile called EMLEAKS to Pastebin, a site that allows anonymous document sharing. It was not immediately clear who was responsible for posting the data

But that doesn't prevent accusations

Quote:

or if any of it was genuine.
The Macron campaign has hinted that there are "made up" emails commingled with real emails. That is a good defensive position to take, allowing the victim to discredit any emails which appear damaging.

Quote:

In a statement, Macron's political movement En Marche! (Onwards!) confirmed that it had been hacked.

"The En Marche! Movement has been the victim of a massive and co-ordinated hack this evening which has given rise to the diffusion on social media of various internal information," the statement said.

An interior ministry official declined to comment, citing French rules that forbid any commentary liable to influence an election, which took effect at midnight on Friday (2200 GMT). The presidential election commission said in statement that it would hold a meeting later on Saturday after Macron's campaign informed it about the hack and publishing of the data. It urged the media to be cautious about publishing details of the emails given that campaigning had ended, and publication could lead to criminal charges.

Comments about the email dump began to appear on Friday evening just hours before the official ban on campaigning began. The ban is due to stay in place until the last polling stations close Sunday at 8 p.m. (1800 GMT).

That's a great idea! WE should have a ban on last-minute campaigning. That prevents people being stampeded and making thoughtless choices.

Quote:

Opinion polls show independent centrist Macron is set to beat National Front candidate Le Pen in Sunday's second round of voting, in what is seen to be France's most important election in decades. The latest surveys show him winning with about 62 percent of the vote.

Former economy minister Macron's campaign has previously complained about attempts to hack its emails, blaming Russian interests in part for the cyber attacks.

Of course.

Quote:

On April 26, the team said it had been the target of a attempts to steal email credentials dating back to January, but that the perpetrators had failed to compromise any campaign data.

The Kremlin has denied it was behind any such attacks, even though Macron's camp renewed complaints against Russian media and a hackers' group operating in Ukraine.

Ummm... in Ukraine?

Quote:

Vitali Kremez, director of research with New York-based cyber intelligence firm Flashpoint, told Reuters his review indicates that APT 28, a group tied to the GRU, the Russian military intelligence directorate, was behind the leak. He cited similarities with U.S. election hacks that have been previously attributed to that group.

APT28 last month registered decoy internet addresses to mimic the name of En Marche, which it likely used send tainted emails to hack into the campaign’s computers, Kremez said. Those domains include onedrive-en-marche.fr and mail-en-marche.fr.

"If indeed driven by Moscow, this leak appears to be a significant escalation over the previous Russian operations aimed at the U.S. presidential election, expanding the approach and scope of effort from simple espionage efforts towards more direct attempts to sway the outcome," Kremez said.

France is the latest nation to see a major election overshadowed by accusations of manipulation through cyber hacking.

U.S. intelligence agencies said in January that Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered hacking of parties tied to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to influence the election on behalf of Republican rival Donald Trump.

Using previous bullshit to support more bullshit? So far, the investigation into Russian interference in the American election has not yielded any solid evidence, and all of those rumors about the so-called "dossier" on Trump and his campaign's "collusion" with Russians seem to have evaporated.

Quote:

On Friday night as the #Macronleaks hashtag buzzed around social media, Florian Philippot, deputy leader of the National Front, tweeted "Will Macronleaks teach us something that investigative journalism has deliberately killed?"

Macron spokesman Sylvain Fort, in a response on Twitter, called Philippot's tweet "vile".

En Marche! said the documents only showed the normal functioning of a presidential campaign, but that authentic documents had been mixed on social media with fake ones to sow "doubt and misinformation".

Sure

Quote:

Ben Nimmo, a UK-based security researcher with the Digital Forensic Research Lab of the Atlantic Council think tank, said initial analysis indicated that a group of U.S. far-right online activists were behind early efforts to spread the documents via social media. They were later picked up and promoted by core social media supporters of Le Pen in France, Nimmo said. The leaks emerged on 4chan, a discussion forum popular with far right activists in the United States. An anonymous poster provided links to the documents on Pastebin, saying, "This was passed on to me today so now I am giving it to you, the people."

The low turnout is an indication of just how fed up people are. By the next election, people will be boiling.

IDK. The Greeks were up in arms about austerity. They elected Syriza (wiki: Syriza - The Coalition of the Radical Left) with Tsipras as its head in 2015.

Then Tsipras betrayed them by meekly bowing to EU demands rather than start the Grexit process, as promised. But, after a brief protest time out of office, Tsipras was returned later in 2015 and has been in power ever since.

And where has that gotten Greece?
Quote:

Forbes:
Feb 21, 2017 @ 05:55 AM
Congratulations To Greece - Venezuela Is Now Reporting On Greek Poverty And Economic Depression

There is no doubt, of course, that Greece has been hard done-by over its debt and the economy ransacked as a result ... But regardless of who is to blame for the collapse in living standards, poverty figures from the EU statistics agency are startling.

Greece isn't the poorest member of the EU; poverty rates are higher in Bulgaria and Romania. But Greece isn't far behind in third place, with Eurostat data showing 22.2 percent of the population were "severely materially deprived" in 2015.

And whereas the figures have dropped sharply in the post-communist Balkan states - by almost a third in Romania's case - the Greek rate has almost doubled since 2008, the year the global crisis erupted. Overall, the EU level fell from 8.5 percent to 8.1 percent over the period.

And in 2016 the EU demanded even MORE austerity to make EU creditors whole - a plan even the IMF questioned as too drastic to allow Greece a reasonable economy. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/dec/13/greece-eu-imf-war-of-wor

Things are getting worse and worse for the Greek people.

And where are the Greeks as a result? Rioting in the streets to remove Syriza? Demanding Tsipras leave? Talking about Grexit?

Hardly.

As has been demonstrated over and over - you CAN economically subjugate an entire country. And the people will meekly bow their heads in acquiescence. After all, look at the US.

Hopefully the French are made of better stuff. But only time will tell.
