A desperate manhunt has been launched to find a terrorist who reportedly shouted 'Al Lahu Akbar' before shooting dead 39 people in an Instanbul nightclub packed with New Year's Eve partygoers.

ISIS claims responsibility for New Year's attack in Turkey, gunman still at large
Witnesses tell harrowing tales of survival after 39 killed in shooting at Reina nightclub

The Turk authorities are close to fully identifying the gunman, Kurtulmus said, after gathering fingerprints and information on his basic appearance, and have detained eight other people.

Nationals of Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Morocco, Libya, Israel, India, Canada, a Turkish-Belgian dual citizen and a Franco-Tunisian woman were among those killed at the nightclub on the shores of the Bosphorus waterway.

Twenty-five of the dead were foreigners

24 people are dead, and the road linking Baghdad and the ISIS stronghold of Mosul is blocked after a car bombing in the Iraqi capital today.

Most violent year in Chicago...

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Its' very simple: as IS loses more territory in Syria (and hopefully in Iraq, although the campaign to liberate Mosul isn't going so well) it will devolve to a less-centralized, small-cell or individual terrorist organization.

And if you think the USA will be spared major terrorist attacks, think again! They will NEVER be fully-preventable: all the domestic snooping and spying and all of the gun-control and explosives-control in the world won't stop a dedicated "lone wolf" from getting his or her hands on something dangerous. The trick is to be alert in situations where there are crowds: soft targets like New Year's Eve parties, nightclubs, and shopping malls .... don't take safety for granted. Look for places that might offer protection. Have a plan and know your exits wherever you go. It's useful planning for ANY disaster, like fire, flood, hurricane, or earthquake.

AURAPTOR

America loves a winner!

At New Year’s Eve celebrations in Dortmund a mob of more than 1,000 men chanted ‘Allahu Akhbar’, launched fireworks at police, and set fire to a historic church

No real incident, just about 1000 ' young males ' of an indiscriminate ethnicity storm a police station, firing bottle rockets, causing chaos... oh, and setting fire to a church.

Funny, there's a brief video where a guy is trying to unfold what looks like a Syrian flag.
