I know I mentioned it before, but my old man took his first ever REAL vacation of his life with my step mom to Jamaica 2 weeks ago. They had a wonderful time. (Although he lost 30lbs before going and they did an hour and a half photoshoot and now he wishes that he lost 50lbs before they went).

I guess Jamaica wasn't slammed like the Bahamas were, but it just goes to show how close you can get to danger even on accident. They bought those tickets online at a super-discounted rate 6 months ago. Just a little tweak here and a little tweak there, they could have been in the eye of that storm.

I know it's an island paradise 364 days of the year, but Hurricane Matthew is exactly the reason that I'm happy to live in the middle of corn fields, 1,000 miles away from any ocean.

My best wishes go out to the survivors who lost somebody important to them.

We need to start having people turn in receipts with complaints so the government can fine these business's of gouging. The fines need to exceed the profits.

The laws exist to stop this and it is a shame they are not enforced to the maximum effort.

In total, the storm has killed 23 people in the US, including 6 in Florida, 4 in Georgia, 2 in South Carolina, and 10 in North Carolina, and 1 in Virginia. At least five people were missing in North Carolina's Cumberland County as of October 10.

Not gonna make the list.

5 billion in damages so far, though.

Matthew 6:10 and beyond....

According to History the line is "and forgive us our Debts as we forgive our Debtors".

I know it's not how you remember the Lord's Prayer, but I've looked at both King James Versions and the New American Bible and it's not the way you learned it.

I'm working on a logical explanation for this rather than believing that it was because of one of the 3 ways the Believers tell us that so many other things we grew up with are changed.

Every single one of the other things that come up, I have a good explanation for.

For instance, they say that another passage of the bible today doesn't say "Judge not let the be judged yourself".

It doesn't matter what the "TRUE" lyrics of that much lesser known passage is. The reason everyone "KNOWS" how it is written is because it is a lyric in Metallica's "Holier than Thou" that got a ton of airplay when the Black Album came out.

The "Forgive us our Debts as we forgive our Debtors" thing fucked my mind. I have a theory about why it was though. It's far fetched, sure, but at the end of the day it's much more plausable than "we are living in the Matrix".

I think you'll enjoy the conversation. Check out The Mandela Effect. Love to hear your opinoins on it.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Nobody I know who is affected, and not being a prayerful person that leave me with just a few contributions (NOT thru Bill Clinton, who stole 90% of the money destined for Haiti after the earthquake!) and the hope that maybe it will do some good.

Hillary is a WAR CANDIDATE, and that's just what we need, right? More war?

Sorry, the bible is just medieval mumbo jumbo to me. Change it all you like it has little to no effect on me or how I think or act. It's got a few good catch phrases, but those would have come 'round sooner or later.

I'm not a bible guy either. I'm not an Atheist. I give God 50/50.

I'm just saying that it's fucking strange as hell that I can't find a Bible that says "Forgive us our Trespasses as we forgive those who Trespass against us". Both King James Versions and the New American Bible (both for two very different "sects" of Christianity) say "Forgive us our Debts as we forgive our Debtors".

I only know this because it was one of two prayers that I DID learn when I was a kid, and I only posted here because I now know that it started with Matthew 6:10. Honestly, I didn't even know how to "read" the Bible until this research. It's actually pretty smart and self explanatory, to tell the truth.

I wasn't going all Bible Bouncer on you Wish. Check out the Mandela Effect Thread. Google it. It's pretty crazy stuff. I think it's fun, although I am a little worried about some of the people involved making videos about it.

Surprised Camille ( cat 5 ) wasn't listed in the top 10 of deaths. Hit in the same general area of Katrina, but further east, I believe, back in '69. Same storm hits that area today, there's so much more development and population , deaths would be 10 x as many , if not more.

* Camille killed 259 people and caused $1.42 billion (1969 USD, $9.16 billion 2016 USD) in damages - Wikipedia

Curious. I see the damages for Camille vary wildly.
Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen

You have initial estimated damages, adjusted for inflation damages, actual recorded damages (which are never fully accurate), adjusted years later damages.... Lotsa people crunching the numbers, and all of them doing it their way, for their agendas...

I saw a video report where a Days Inn raised their rates from $55 a day to $300. The manager was reported and I believe they were fined. Days Inn HQ stated that it was a franchise and that they did not recommend the increase.

Way to go Days Inn.

There are such concepts as SUPPLY and DEMAND in a free market, folks.

Economics Basics: Supply and Demand | Investopedia

The relationship between demand and supply underlie the forces behind the allocation of resources. In market economy theories, demand and supply theory will allocate resources in the most efficient way possible.

Can there be abuse of the practices ? Sure. And such gouging must be kept in check. But merely raising the prices on an item , which is finite , because of a temporary situation, isn't necessarily GREED.
