Iraq is unable to treat the huge numbers of people wounded in Mosul

GOGJALI, Iraq — More than a dozen times a day, the doctor and his skeleton staff at a makeshift trauma center near Mosul repeat a ritual: identify a wound, try to stabilize it, wait for an ambulance and hope the patient survives the journey to a better-equipped facility up to a two-hour drive away.

Most of the patients were shot by Islamic State snipers or injured when mortar shells hit their homes, and not all of them will make it.

The stopgap medical center is part of a network that Iraqi and international health workers are racing to establish, staff and supply to cope with a tidal wave of critical injuries.

At least 14 US-led coalition military advisers have been captured by the Syrian Special Forces in a bunker in the city of Aleppo, according to media reports.

The event allegedly took place in the morning on December 16, 2016 (Voltaire.net):

“The Security Council is sitting in private on Friday, December 16, 2016, at 17:00 GMT, while NATO officers were arrested this morning by the Syrian Special Forces in a bunker in East Aleppo.”

21stcenturywire.com also provided a list of names of the coalition’s military advisers captured in Aleppo, citing a Syrian member of Parliament:

Fares Shehabi, a prominent Syrian Parliamentarian and head of Aleppo’s Chamber of Commerce published the names of the Coalition officers on his Facebook page on the 15th December (emphasis added):

Mutaz Kanoglu – Turkey
David Scott Winer – USA
David Shlomo Aram – Israel
Muhamad Tamimi – Qatar
Muhamad Ahmad Assabian – Saudi
Abd-el-Menham Fahd al Harij – Saudi
Islam Salam Ezzahran Al Hajlan – Saudi
Ahmed Ben Naoufel Al Darij – Saudi
Muhamad Hassan Al Sabihi – Saudi
Hamad Fahad Al Dousri – Saudi
Amjad Qassem Al Tiraoui – Jordan
Qassem Saad Al Shamry – Saudi
Ayman Qassem Al Thahalbi – Saudi
Mohamed Ech-Chafihi El Idrissi – Moroccan

Damascus-based Syrian journalist Said Hilal Alcharifi also reported on the issue in his Facebook account:

Very urgent
The Syrian authorities were able, thanks to information thorough, arrive at the headquarters of senior officers and western regional in the basement of a district of Aleppo-is, and capture them all alive.
A few names have already been ex filtered to Syrian journalists including me.
Seen the nationalities (us, French, British, German, Israelis, Turks, Saudis, Moroccans, Qatari, etc.. etc) of these scumbags and their military ranks, I assure you
Syria holds in this moment a big treasures to carry out the negotiations with the countries that have destroyed.

Earlier in December, SF already noted that the US despearate attempts to push a “diplomatic solution” in Aleppo could indicate that the Obama administration stalling for time to extricate US mercenaries and special service members from the Aleppo pocket:
US officers in Aleppo pocket.

Considering that US-led coalition military advisers have been widely operating across Syria, training and assisting to the so-called “moderate opposition” openly linked with al-Qaeda, the recently appeared reports are likely true.

For isntance, British military advisers have officially arrived to Syria to restore combat capability of the ‘moderate’ opposition, retreated from Aleppo:

British military advisers have arrived to Syria in order to restore combat capability of units of the ‘moderate’ opposition, retreated from Aleppo, the Izvestiya newspaper reported, citing a statement of UK Defense Minister Michael Fallon. According to Fallon, 20 British military instructors, who will train the opposition forces, involved in the fight against the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, have already arrived at the destination.

The dispatch of British advisers was announced in October, long before the recapture of Aleppo by the Syrian government forces. Initially, they had a task to train recruits to conduct combined arms combat, as well as to teach them the basics of tactical medicine and combat engineering. However, the situation changed and the task was changed too.

The Syrian army is calling on the last remaining rebels to leave eastern districts of Aleppo, as the evacuation of their besieged enclave continues.

The Red Cross says 25,000 people have been evacuated since a ceasefire deal halted the army's offensive a week ago.

It is not known exactly how many are still waiting to leave eastern Aleppo, but the UN special envoy to Syria estimated on Thursday that about 40,000 civilians and 10,000 rebels were there.

A spokeswoman for the International Committee of the Red Cross, Ingy Sedky, told AFP that "thousands" of people were still waiting to be bussed out.

Fifteen thousand were evacuated on Monday, she said, bringing the total to 25,000.

https://www.rt.com/news/370742-aleppo-evacuations-buses-syria/
At least 3,000 people have been evacuated from the last rebel-held district of Aleppo following a Russia- and Turkey-brokered deal between the Syrian government and opposition. An additional 260 people were evacuated from two villages besieged by rebels.

Around 20 buses initially arrived in eastern Aleppo early Monday, Dr. Ahmad Dbis, who heads a team of doctors and volunteers coordinating evacuations, told AFP, adding that another 25 vehicles arrived less than two hours later.

Meanwhile, a United Nations official told Reuters that 50 buses and two ambulances arrived to evacuate civilians, while aid workers put the number at more than 60 buses.

Some evacuees are being taken in by relatives and residents, while others are being housed in tents, according to aid workers.

An official from a refugee camp which is accepting those evacuating al-Foua and Kafraya told RT that he expects 1,000 people from the villages to arrive at the camp on Monday.

Several people at the camp spoke to RT about the dire conditions they left behind, citing a lack of food and medical supplies, as well as dirty water and no phone communications. They also spoke of constant shelling by opposition forces.

The UN remains resolved to observe.

"The task is to monitor and observe the evacuations," Jens Laerke told a news briefing in Geneva.

The UN Security Council called unanimously Monday for UN officials and others to observe the evacuation of people from the last rebel-held enclave in Aleppo and monitor the safety of civilians who remain in the Syrian city.

The UN refugee agency UNHCR said there was no sign of a heavy influx of people fleeing Aleppo into neighbouring Turkey.

Of course there's fake news about Syria.

Egyptian Police Arrests Photographer for Making Staged Pics of ‘Wounded Children from Aleppo’

A man, who was taking staged photos of ‘wounded children from Aleppo’, has been arrested by Egyptian police in the Egyptian province of Port Said.

Egyptian police arrested a man for a shooting staged shots with the participation of children, which were positioned as photos of destructions and wounded civilians in the Syrian city of Aleppo, the RIA Novosti news agency reported, citing a statement of the Egyptian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The photographs were spread via social networks.

As the Egyptian Interior Ministry reported on its official Facebook page, the shooting team, which included assistants of the photographer and parents of the young actors, was detained in the province of Port Said.

Egyptian police became a witness of a shooting process, which took place on ruins of an illegal building, demolished by a decision of the authorities. The attention of policemen, accidentally driving by the place, was attracted by a minor girl, dressed in a bloodstained white dress, who kept a white teddy bear in her hands. The plush toy also was besmirched with red spots. As the policemen immediately ascertained, the ‘blood’ turned out to be an ordinary paint.

After a short discussion and viewing of the work of the team, the photographer told police that he was going to publish these photos on social networks, setting them up as footage from Aleppo.

The photographer was detained by police for four days for investigation of the incident. The rest of the participants of the shooting were released on bail.

Aleppo evacuations resume after hold-up, UN
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which is running the operation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), confirmed that the evacuation had resumed. Weather conditions were "harsh" and people "exhausted", it said earlier in a tweet.

Russian and Syrian television channels showed people who had crossed into government territory cheering and thanking the government and complaining of bad treatment by rebels inside.
United Nations officials also said that indiscriminate shelling of western Aleppo (by al-Nusra and ISIS) had continued killing and injuring civilians, destroying civilian infrastructure, and had forced about 20,000 people from their homes.

Russia says two of its medics killed in Aleppo hospital attack
The Russian Defence Ministry said on Monday Syrian rebels had deliberately shelled a Russian military field hospital in Aleppo, killing two female medics and injuring one other.
Major-General Igor Konashenkov said rebels had directed artillery fire at the mobile field hospital after it began receiving civilians and had scored a direct hit on its reception.
"Without doubt the shelling was carried out by 'opposition' rebels," Konashenkov said in a statement. "We know who the rebels got the exact information and coordinates about the hospital reception from."
Konashenkov said the United States, Britain and France bore responsibility for the attack on the hospital, which was located in a government-held district of embattled Aleppo, because they were supporting the rebels. "The blood of our personnel is on the hands of those who ordered this murder, those who created, nurtured and armed these animals in human guise."
He said the attack would be investigated and called on international aid organisations to condemn it.

Russian De-mining Teams, Mobile Hospital on Way to Aleppo

Dec. 1, 2016 (EIRNS)—The Russian Defense Ministry announced, yesterday, that a Russian de-mining team is on its way to Syria to help clear the newly freed districts of Aleppo from mines and booby traps left behind by the jihadis.

"Today, an advanced detachment from the international anti-mine center of the Russian Armed Forces is leaving to defuse unexploded ordnance in Aleppo," Lt. Gen. Sergei Rudskoi, the Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the Russian General Staff, said during a briefing yesterday. "Overall, more than 200 servicemen and 47 units of combat and special equipment will be involved in the de-mining activities in Aleppo." TASS, in reporting Rudksoi’s announcement, recalls that after the liberation of Palmyra from ISIS, last March, Russian de-mining teams defused 17,500 explosive devices in a period of 45 days, clearing 2,500 buildings in the process.

At the same time, the Defense Ministry also announced that cargo aircraft loaded with medical equipment and personnel left Russia for Syria to provide medical assistance to civilians in Aleppo, in accordance with the order issued by Russian President Vladimir Putin the day before.

"The personnel of the Russian Defense Ministry’s special medical unit, a field hospital, special gear, and medical equipment have left for Syria by plane," the Defense Ministry said. "Upon arrival Russian military medics will start providing medical assistance to civilians and refugees near Aleppo."

These are some of the things Powell said about Flynn:
Quote:

“I spoke at DIA last month,” Powell wrote in a July 19 email exchange with his son. “Flynn got fired as head of DIA. His replacement is a black Marine 3-star. I asked why Flynn got fired. Abusive with staff, didn’t listen, worked against policy, bad management, etc. He has been and was right-wing nutty every [sic] since. I watched about five minutes on line of his talked [sic] and switched off.” While Powell admitted in an Aug. 10 email to a Washington Post reporter that he never “knew or served with Flynn,” he still sounded off on the Trump adviser. “Talking to people in the know, his real problem was leadership and management issues at DIA. Senior staff was in incipient revolt,” Powell wrote. “He has been over the top in his comments, conduct unbecoming. But he is unchained.”
Quote:

How is Powell's experience not evidentiary? Do you have more experience with the military than Powell? Does your background afford you a better pov to judge Flynn by? What? I can't hear you.
WHAT SPECIFICALLY in Powell's experience gives him SPECIFIC knowledge of Flynn? After all, that's what we're talking about. Powell made very SPECIFIC comments about Flynn. So, to repeat - WHAT SPECIFICALLY in Powell's experience gives him SPECIFIC knowledge of Flynn? Or, is he just making things up or repeating gossip?

CNN's KFile asked Flynn for clarification about the Arabic signs, but received no reply. A Trump transition spokesman declined to comment. A spokesperson for the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) "respectfully" declined to comment.
Earlier in the interview, Flynn discussed Hezbollah activity with drug smugglers in South and Central America. The Drug Enforcement Administration in February announced that Hezbollah was working with South American drug cartels to move drugs into the US. A series of arrests, the DEA said, was meant to stop the organization from using millions in drug money to fund terrorist activity in Syria and Lebanon.

And what does this have to do with Powell's comments?

GSTRING, you claim to be a manager.

Well, I don't know how much of a manager you are, but in government agencies, you have to provide SPECIFIC EVIDENCE of how someone is fucking up. You can't just say that someone is "insubordinate", you have to provide the times, dates, and instances where a person was directed (and re-directed) to do something by a certain time and either outright verbally refused or simply failed to perform the task in a timely manner, and that it was not due to safety concerns or lack of training.

Similarly, you can't just say that someone is "incapable" you have to provide the times and dates of training logs, and demonstrate that training was attempted several times with several people.

I addressed this in another post already.

I guess YOUR problem is you (STILL!!!) can't separate "allegation" from "evidence". Saying someone is "abusive" or "working against policy" is an allegation ... i.e. it's an ACCUSATION unsubstantiated by EVIDENCE: times, dates, places, and descriptions documented by testimony from multiple people, or physical evidence such as missing data files, emails sent and received, bruises, broken parts or what-have-you. Now, I realize that for perfectly valid personnel reasons (something you may not know anything about) that specific evidence won't be forthcoming. But that that all means is that whatever Colin Powell said is just so much vapor: it's strictly hearsay (what someone told Powell, not what he witnessed directly), lacking corroborating evidence, and can't be used to judge Flynn's military performance because the allegations could all be purely political. So we will have to go on what Flynn says or tweets directly, plus historical fact.

FACT: Flynn co-wrote the military's counterinsurgency manual.

Just imagine that you are part of a jury every time an accusation comes up, and you have to decide whether the evidence supports the accusation. (And, no, repeating the accusation a few hundred times doesn't raise it to the level of evidence. Although it DOES raise the allegation to the level of "propaganda". That's what KRAPO does, and he's quite proud of it, he even says so in his signature, but it's still just allegation and propaganda.)

So, since it's apparently OK to deal in allegations,

Quote:

‘Moderate Rebels’ Executed Hostages before Leaving East Aleppo (Graphic Photo 18+)

According to reports from the field, the so-called ‘moderate’ opposition massively executed captured soldiers of the Syrian Army before to leave the last neighborhoods of the city of Aleppo this week. Various pro-government sources claim that the number of killed Syrian soldiers reached 100 people. However, this information still has not been confirmed. At the same time, pro-opposition sources do not comment on the situation.

Reportedly, the massacre was committed by the Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki and Jaish al-Fatah groups in Sukkari and Bustan Al-Qasr districts of the city. The victims were mainly young men between the ages of 18-25.

A video, published online, presumably shows a Syrian soldier, captured, according to the voiceover, by members of the al-Din al-Zenki group. We also can see the same soldier in one of the photos, showing killed servicemen. So, it is clear that namely al-Din al-Zenki committed the murder of this soldier, as well as of others people in the picture.

The photos below were published by pro-government journalists, reporting from eastern Aleppo. The soldiers, presented in the photos, still have not been identified. According to some reports, a large number of the executed soldiers were beheaded by jihadists. However, there is no confirmation of this information.

According to some reports, the High Command of the Syrian Army demanded to free these soldiers before jihadists left eastern Aleppo. However, militants denied the fact that they have any hostages.

Meanwhile, the Sputnik news agency also reported that Syrian servicemen discovered bodies of people, executed by terrorists, in one of the schools in Sukkari district. According to attorney of the Syrian military police, Samer Yousef, there were children among the killed people. Reportedly, characteristic traces of an execution, “including severed heads and poked out eyes,” were on the bodies of the victims. Some of them were shot dead at close range. Yousef added that soon, the DNA samples will be taken in order to identify the victims. According to the attorney, the execution occurred about 4-5 days ago.

I mean REALLY know it, like based on direct experience ... I have to DO something about it.

Quote:

Similarly, you can't just say that someone is "incapable" you have to provide the times and dates of training logs, and demonstrate that training was attempted several times with several people.- SIGNY

Flynn was fired - that's evidence of his being incapable.- GSTRING

That may also be evidence of him pissing people off - not because he was wrong, but because he was factually correct but politically out-of-step. Unlike Colin Powell, who was politically tuned in, but factually oh-so-very-wrong!

Quote:

I guess YOUR problem is you (STILL!!!) can't separate "allegation" from "evidence".- SIGNY

I addressed in another post how you and Kiki use "evidence" as a dodge. Old news.- GSTRING

You only think it's a "dodge" because you quite often don't have any. But if people had insisted on "evidence" - REAL evidence, not the kind of hearsay, supposition, and logic-fail-crap that you accept - we wouldn't have destroyed Iraq and Libya and created and fostered IS.

Quote:

- SIGNY

And totally wrong. One wonders how you function day to day. You have no idea what Powell knows or how he knows it, do you?-GSTRING

I know that they never worked together. I know that's it's hearsay. I know that for perfectly valid reasons we will never know the detail. What that means is that Powell's opinions can't be substantiated, and are therefore untrustworthy.

Quote:

What we do know about how he feels about Flynn comes from the statements he's made - those are evidence of his opinions are they not? Unless you can prove he makes his opinions up at random or his opinions can't be trusted
...

I give you his Iraq-WMD-UN dog-and-pony show, where he held up vials of laundry detergent powder as examples of anthrax and showed grainy pictures of nondescript buildings in the desert claiming that they were mobile bioreactors ... it was squirmingly embarrassing to watch, and even the other UN representatives weren't impressed. Maybe you're too young to remember, so here, have at it: a 1-hour- 16-minute extravaganza of bloviating, errors in judgment, wobbly "evidence", mumbling, and broken logic all rolled into one:

After that, it's hard to see how Powell could accuse ANYone of lack of judgment!

The idea that there might be signs in Arabic on our southern border seems ridiculous on the face of it. But one thing need to be noted:
No less agency than the DEA stated in February that Hezbollah was working with South American drug cartels to move drugs into the US and use the profits to fund terrorist activities.

It isn't a big stretch of the imagination to think other terrorist organizations would work with South and Central American drug cartels for other terrorist purposes.

Since we're apparently all good with allegations in this space:

Quote:

Mass graves of tortured civilians found in Aleppo – Russian MoD

Mass graves with dozens of bodies of civilians subjected to brutal torture have been discovered in Aleppo neighborhoods left by militants, the Russian Defense Ministry said Monday.

Many of the corpses were found with missing body parts, and most had gunshot wounds to the head, according to a statement by Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major-General Igor Konashenkov.

“The completion of a uniquely large-scale humanitarian operation by the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Aleppo will destroy many of the myths that have been fed to the world by Western politicians,” Konashenkov said in a statement. “The results of only an initial survey of Aleppo neighborhoods abandoned by the so-called ‘opposition’ will shock many.”

In addition to the massacres on militant-held territory, the area had been extensively mined

Which is why sappers were sent in

Quote:

streets, cars, the entrances to buildings and even children’s toys had been booby-trapped.

In one small area, three tanks, two cannons, two multiple rocket launchers and numerous homemade mortars were found.

Seven huge warehouses filled with ammunition and supplies were also discovered, Konashenkov said.

On December 23, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said all militants had been evacuated from Aleppo. This came shortly after the Syrian Army declared the entire city free from anti-government armed groups.

The Russian military is currently involved in minesweeping the liberated areas and providing humanitarian aid to returning residents. On Friday, a Russian military police battalion arrived to help maintain security.
https://www.rt.com/news/371824-aleppo-mass-graves-civilians/

But where, oh where, is the UN? Just three short weeks after they were wringing their hands about the poor trapped civilians. Now that they can actually HELP them, where is the hot food and hot tea? Where are the emergency shelters? Where are the dry clean clothes? Where is the medical attention? Help re-uniting lost families?

Or were the civilians of East Aleppo of concern - and in the western press - only as long as they could be used as leverage against the Syrian government and its allies?

Another POV

Quote:

There Are No Terrorists? Counterterrorism = Supporting Terrorism? Western Governments Are Supporting Terrorist Organizations Which They are Allegedly Combating

The Western media in chorus is accusing the Syrian government and its allies including Russia and Iran of “crimes against humanity” for having liberated Aleppo from the clutch of Al Qaeda terrorists. “Putin and Assad could face justice for war crimes in Syria” according to the Washington Post.

In the media coverage of Aleppo, the Al Qaeda affiliated terrorists are casually described as opposition “rebels” waging a “revolution” against the government of Bashar al Assad, who is portrayed as a “dictator”.

The media propaganda campaign has gone into high gear. The words “Al Qaeda”, “Al Nusra” or “terrorists” are simply not mentioned in recent media reports. It never happened. “Opposition rebels” committed to democracy have been crushed by the Russians, according to “authoritative” media sources.

According to reports, there were no terrorists in Aleppo. The “rebels” are now being portrayed as the victims of Russian aggression. These are the same terrorists who are the object of Obama’s alleged “counterterrorism” campaign, which is largely intent upon protecting the terrorists.

Lies by Omission

There is no mention of the fact that East Aleppo has been occupied by Al Qaeda affilated entities (which are on the EU and US State Department “terror lists”) and that these terrorists –which are now portrayed as “freedom fighters’– have committed countless atrocities against civilians. And these atrocities are now casually being blamed on the Syrian, Russian and Iranian forces which liberated Aleppo.

For four years East Aleppo has been occupied by Al Qaeda, which had established a regime of terror and destruction. The media has portrayed the terrorists as “the moderate” opposition.

Syria: A US-NATO Sponsored Terrorist Insurrection Initiated in March 2011

The evidence amply confirms that Washington has supported the terrorists from the very outset. The influx of Salafist mercenaries commenced in the Southern city of Daraa on the border with Jordan in mid-March 2011.

Moreover, in an August 2011 report, Israeli intelligence news (Debka) confirmed that NATO and the Turkish High Command were involved in recruiting Mujahideen mercenaries throughout “the Middle East and the Muslim world”, while providing the rebels with an vast array of weapons:

“NATO strategists are thinking more in terms of pouring large quantities of anti-tank and anti-air rockets, mortars and heavy machine guns into the protest centers… ” (Debka) .

The terrorists are the foot-soldiers of the Western military alliance. Al Qaeda is a creation of the CIA. The Islamic State (ISIS-Daesh) was originally an Al Qaeda affiliated entity (Al Qaeda in Iraq) created by US intelligence with the support of Britain’s MI6, Israel’s Mossad, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Saudi Arabia’s General Intelligence Presidency (GIP).

Obama’s Counter-Terrorism Campaign is a Fraud

Obama’s counter-terrorism bombing campaign directed against the Islamic State (ISIS-Daesh) initiated in August 2014 is fake.

If they had wanted to eliminate ISIS-Daesh, they could have bombed their convoys of Toyota pickup trucks when they crossed the desert from Syria into Iraq in June 2014. The Syro-Arabian Desert is open territory. With a fleet of state of the art jet fighter aircraft (F15, F22 Raptor, F16) it would have been –from a military standpoint– ”a piece of cake”, a rapid and expedient surgical operation, which would have decimated the Islamic State convoys in a matter of hours.

The issue mentioned above has never been raised by military analysts. It has never received media coverage.

Needless to say that if they had eliminated the ISIS convoy in June 2014, Obama’s “Counterterrorism” initiative entitled “Operation Inherent Resolve” would not have been required.

The unspoken objective of Obama’s “counterterrorism” campaign was to provide a pretext and a justification for the extensive bombing of Iraq and Syria.

According to CENTCOM, more than 31,900 targets were the object of US bombings over a period of more than 2 years, and the ISIS has yet to be defeated.

The counterterrorism bombing campaign was instigated to destroy Iraq and Syria rather than defeat the ISIS.

Foreign Mercenaries and Western Special Forces

Amply documented, these various terror formations in Syria, the most important of which are Jabhat Al Nusra (recently renamed Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, “Front for the Conquest of the Levant”), and the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS-Daesh) are largely composed of foreign mercenaries, recruited, trained and financed by the Western military alliance.

Western special forces –often hired by private mercenary outfits– are embedded within the ranks of these terror formations. These special forces are in permanent liaison with their US-NATO-Israeli counterparts.

The various terror organizations are instruments of US-NATO. The US, France, Britain, Germany, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel are the “State sponsors” of Al Qaeda and the ISIS.

Money and weapons are channeled to the terrorists. The US and its allies use arms trafficking –i.e. the unregulated illicit trade in light weapons through private traders including organized crime–, to channel large amounts of weapons and ammunition to the terrorists inside Syria. The Berlin Terror Attack

Terror Attacks in Western Cities

Now let us turn our attention to the Berlin terror attack (December 19, 2016), which coincided chronologically with the Liberation of Aleppo.

Within less than an hour of the occurrence prior to the conduct of a police investigation, the Western media in chorus concluded without a shred of evidence that ISIS-Daesh was behind the attack.

This is the “authoritative report” of the Washington Post:

The “self proclaimed soldier of the Islamic State” is dead. And dead suspects do not talk.

That seems to be a pattern in most of the alleged ISIS terror attacks in Western cities. Moreover, the alleged suspect was on the radar of the German police and intelligence.

“The shootout would end the violent arc of Amri’s life, marking another salvo in a relentless new wave of Islamist terrorism in Europe that has vexed the ability of nations to thwart it. (Washington Post, December 23, 2016)

The CNN’s report concludes that the ISIS was behind the attack because the ISIS affiliated Amaq News Agency “released a statement saying that Monday’s attack was carried out by a ‘soldier of the Islamic State’”.

The I.D. Card of the Alleged Lone Perpetrator

It is worth noting that the I.D. Card of Anis Amri was found inside the truck 24 hours “after” the conduct of a thorough police investigation of the wrecked truck. And immediately Amri was identified as the perpetrator of the terror attack.

Was his I.D card belatedly “found” or was it “planted” under the driver’s seat of the lorry?

This is not the first time that the I.D. card or passport of an alleged terror suspect is “left behind”.

Said Kouachi, one of the alleged perpetrators of the Paris Charlie Hebdo January 2015 attack “reportedly” also left his I.D card behind, in his brother’s abandoned getaway car (see image right).

On the Radar of the Police and Intelligence Agencies

Said Kouachi's ID card. Allegedly found in the getaway car.

Most of the alleged terror suspects involved in recent attacks (Paris, Brussels, Nice) were on the radar of the police and intelligence agencies.

Moreover, it is worth noting that Amedi Coulibaly, principal suspect of the January 2015 Paris Charlie Hebdo terror attack who was shot dead at the kosher grocery store in Vincennes on January 9, had been invited in 2009 to a meeting at the Elysée Palace with (former) president Nicolas Sarkozy.

What was the real purpose of his meeting behind closed doors with an acting head of State? Is it relevant? Nobody bothered in the French media to ask Nicolas Sarkozy to clarify the nature of his meeting with Coulibaly.

“The Terrorists R Us“,

The fundamental question which the media fails to address is who is behind ISIS-Daesh? Who are the “State sponsors” of the Islamic State?

The unspoken truth is that several Western governments are supporting the terror organizations which they are allegedly combating.

The US counter-terrorism coalition is intent upon supporting and protecting the terrorists in Syria and Iraq.

It’s a diabolical agenda. The governments of the countries whose citizens are the victims of terror attacks are supporting ISIS-Daesh.

“You are either with us or with the terrorists”, said George W. Bush in an address to the US Congress in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Western leaders are so to speak “with themselves as well as with the terrorists”.

Most people in Western countries are unaware that their own governments are supporting and funding the terrorists.

When France provides (covert) military aid to both the Libya Islamic fighting Group (LIFG) and ISIS-Daesh in Syria, does this not suggest that the French government might at some future date be “held accountable” for the terror attacks in Paris and Nice (allegedly carried out by the ISIS), which have resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians?

Germany sells large amounts of weapons to Turkey and Saudi Arabia which in turn provide military aid to Al Qaeda and the Islamic State. Does this not signify –to put it mildly– that Angela Merkel’s government should take “some responsibility” for the Berlin terror attack allegedly conducted by ISIS-Daesh?

Combating ISIS on the one hand, Supporting ISIS on the other hand? A criminal undertaking.

Western Governments are State Sponsors of Terrorism

Despite the evidence, it is very difficult for people to accept the fact that their own government is supporting terrorism. Most people will dispel this as an impossibility. But it is the forbidden truth. The established consensus is that the role of a government is to protect its people. That myth has to be sustained.

The media’s role is to ensure that the truth does not trickle down to the broader public. If that were to occur, the legitimacy of Obama, Hollande, Merkel, et al would collapse like a deck of cards.

Because a Donbas "invasion" of the kind that you and KRAPO endlessly carp about, which leaves no footprint ... no air support, no satellite-visible columns of tanks or ranks of infantry, no rows of burned-out armored personnel carriers (APCs), no artillery emplacements ... isn't an invasion.

What Russia did: supplying shells and fuel, trainers, intelligence, and equipment (bought by interested oligarchs and sold via the "voentorg" i.e. military-equipment stores) and a porous border which allowed volunteers and civilian aid one way and wounded fighters and civilian refugees the other way, isn't an "invasion".

I mean, when TURKEY did that for the "rebels" in Syria ... being a proxy-seller of ISIL oil, treating wounded terrorists in their hospitals and sending volunteer foreign terrorists across the border the other way, shipping Saudi- and Qatari- purchased weapons and supplies into Syria for the "rebels" .... was THAT an "invasion" of Syria by Turkey? Heck, I thought what Turkey was doing was heinous, but even I wouldn't call it an "invasion".

PROXY WAR is the term that you're looking for, but can't seem to find or remember. Try to remember it for next time, OK?

You say you know what my POV is and then you say I don't "actually give us your opinions." So is that another lie or just more broken logic?= GSTRING

I want to address this specifically.

It's very clear WHAT YOU BELIEVE by WHAT YOU ATTACK.

You're a McCarthyite. Not only do you endlessly crap about Russia, to the point of making shit up, you attack anyone who doesn't get on your anti-Russian bandwagon.

You SAY that you're even-handed but fail to criticize the USA and its allies when it destroys nations.

You attack anyone who argues with THUGR and KRAPO, particularly after either one of them has made a noticeable jackass of themselves. And since KRAPO and THUGR are for American hegemony and full-spectrum dominance, you are too.

You've disparaged Nigel Farage (Brexit), Marine le Pen (Frexit), Donald Trump. You're not too keen on the concept of national borders for refugees. Hence, you're a globalist.

You attack any semblance of anyone being anti-gay. Hard to find here, since everyone is pretty much equal-opportunity when it comes to sexual orientation, but you're so sensitive about it that the thought has crossed my mind, more than once, that you yourself might be gay, or that someone close to you is.

You attack older people. Hence, you're a millenial, or younger.

So despite that fact that you're such a coward that you can't even bring up the courage to tell us all your opinions, it's easy to tell from who you attack that you're just a run-of-the-mill hypocritical, cowardly, millenial liberaloid.

Al-Nusra Terrorist Who Sent His Under-Age Kids on Suicide Mission in Syria Is Dead
A man, who reportedly sent his 7 and 9-years-old daughters to carry out a suicide bomb attack in the Syrian city of Damascus is now said to be dead himself.

Photos, showing a dead man, who is believed to be the member of the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (previously known as the al-Nusra Front) terrorist group, known as Abou Nimr, have been published online.

Earlier this month, a video, showing the same bearded man, teaching his daughters, Islam and Fatima, how to blow themselves up for the glory of Allah, was published in social networks. Another published video shows a woman, dressed in a burqa, who is believed to be the girls’ mother. The woman hugs the girls in an apparent farewell moment, while the man behind the camera talks of suicide bomb attacks for them.

Less than two weeks ago, a police station was bombed by a child suicide bomber in Midan neighborhood of Damascus. According to the Reuters news agency, citing an unnamed witness in the area of the blast, a young girl of about nine years of age entered the police station and, after asking to go to the toilet, blew herself up. According to Syrian media, the bomb was homemade and was activated with a remote control. There were no other casualties except of a police officer, who was slightly wounded.

While one of the daughters of the terrorist managed to perform her task and blew herself up at the police stations in Midan, her 9-years-old sister tried to blow herself up in a building of the Syrian Ministry of Internal Affairs, but guards didn’t allow her to do this, and the girl escaped.

Syrian War Report – December 27, 2016: Militants In Daraa Surrender To Syrian Army

On December 26 and December 27, the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force were delivering massive airstrikes on Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) targets in the Idlib-Aleppo countryside, according to local sources. The activity of the Syrian-Russian air power in the area was synchronized with reports about deployment of a high number of Hezbollah and Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba and Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fighters for an operation in the area of Hader and Qarassi.

Mass graves of torture victims have been uncovered in the Syrian city of Aleppo, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on December 26.

“Mass burial sites of many dozens [of Syrians], who had been subjected to brutal torture and [then] murdered, have been found,” Maj. Gen. Konashenkov said. The Russian general said that the cases are being thoroughly recorded as heavy war crimes to be put to maximum publicity “so that European backers of the so-called opposition in London and Paris are well aware of who their wards actually are.”

Konashenkov added that militants of the “moderate opposition” mined in eastern Aleppo nearly everything: streets, entrances to premises, and cars.

Russian engineers are working to demine the city.

Earlier reports appeared that government forces seized large stocks of ammunition and weapons in the liberated parts of Aleppo: missiles, mortar shells, assault rifles, various kind of munitions and humanitarian aid.

Tensions among various militant factions on more time erupted in the province of Idlib where Jabhat Fatah al-Sham raided houses and arrested a number of Liwa Suqur al-Jabal militants that had returned to Idlib after participation in the Turkey-led Operation Euphrates Shield in northern Aleppo. The event took place in Kansafra and followed sporadic reports that Liwa Suqur al-Jabal had been redeploying fighters to Idlib to oppose the expected government offensive in the area.

Kurdish YPG forces have been continuing to develop the momentum against ISIS in the province of Raqqah. The YPG is working to secure the area north of the Tabqa Dam, controlled by ISIS. When it’s done, Kurdish forces will likely attempt to retake this strategic site from the terrorist group. Especially heavy clashes are now ongoing in the area of Jabar.

A high number of militants has laid down arms and joined the reconciliation process with the Syrian government in the province of Daraa. The event took place in the government-held town of al-Sanamyen north of the provincial capital. The total numbers of Free Syrian Army members that had laid their arms and took the amnesty were estimated from 150 to 250. Local sources argue that this was a prelude to a wider reconciliation agreement in the province that will allow government forces to set control over all parts over the city of Daraa.

"The lady GSTRING doth protest too much, methinks" is a quotation from the c.?1600 play Hamlet by William Shakespeare.[1] It has been used as a figure of speech, in various phrasings, to describe someone's overly frequent and vehement attempts to convince others of some matter of which the opposite is true, thereby making themselves appear defensive and insincere./

Meanwhile, In Syria

Quote:

Russian sappers sweep Aleppo for mines, discovering shells made in US, Germany

Russian bomb disposal teams are continuing to sweep schools and mosques of Aleppo for booby-traps, mines and munitions after they were wrested from rebel control. Recovered explosives come from various parts of the world, including the US and Germany.

Since starting their mine-swiping mission in the Syrian city three weeks ago, the sappers have cleared 966 hectares, the Russian Syrian Reconciliation Center reported on Wednesday. They reported 2,149 building in and near Aleppo as safe, including 44 schools, 38 mosques, 10 medical facilities and other crucial civilian infrastructure. They also swept 350km of roads in the area for mines, the report said.

The teams discovered and defused some 14,700 dangerous items, including 6,700 IEDs. The munitions discovered in stockpiles left behind by various armed groups ranged from small arms rounds and hand grenades all the way up to rockets meant for multiple-rocket launchers.

Footage of the ongoing demining operation released by the Russian Defense Ministry showed crates full of various munitions; some of them marked “Produced in Yugoslavia by Ordnance Corps United States Army.”

“The munitions we found were German, American, Bulgarian... The amount they had was somewhat disconcerting,” Maj. Ivan Gromov, a bomb disposal squad leader said.

The Russian military in Aleppo are assisting with restoring normal life in the city after four years of hostilities. In addition to disposing of explosives, they help with deliveries of humanitarian aid and restoring utilities. A Russian military police unit was deployed to Aleppo to preserve order and prevent possible abuses.

But where is the UN aid? Don't they care about all of those displaced, war-weary people?

Quote:

Militants opposing the Syrian government were forced to leave eastern Aleppo after Damascus conducted a successful offensive operation in the city last month. The evacuation of rebel fighters and their civilian supporters was meant to spare lives and was conducted with the help of international humanitarian organizations. This ended constant fighting in the city, which was divided into government-held and rebel-held parts for years.

MEANWHILE, BACK IN SYRIA (the putative subject of this thread) I SEE THOSE DASTARDLY WAR CRIMINALS- THE RUSSIANS - HAVE MANAGED TO FORCE A CEASE-FIRE ON THE COMBATANTS.

Quote:

Syria conflict: Ceasefire agreed, backed by Russia and Turkey

The Syrian government and rebel groups have agreed a nationwide ceasefire from midnight local time (22:00 GMT) on Thursday, followed by peace talks.

The deal was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin and confirmed by the Turkish foreign ministry.

Russia and Turkey, which back opposing sides, will act as guarantors.

The rebel High Negotiations Committee (HNC), seen by the UN as the main opposition group, confirmed the deal, which excludes certain jihadist groups.

The Syrian army said in a statement that so-called Islamic State (IS) and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (formerly the Nusra Front) "and the groups affiliated to them" were not part of the agreement.

Latest updates on Syria ceasefire

Osama Abu Zaid, a spokesman for the Free Syrian Army (FSA), a loose alliance of several moderate rebel factions under the HNC, said the deal also did not include the Kurdish Popular Protection Units (YPG).

The YPG, along with other Kurdish militias, controls a large area of northern Syria up the Turkish border. It is regarded by Turkey as a terrorist organisation and an extension of the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

However, the ceasefire will take in the rebel-held eastern Ghouta area near Damascus, which had been a sticking-point in negotiations.

The HNC, the umbrella group representing Syria's political and armed opposition factions, said that, because of the rebels' limited resources against government forces and their factional allies, it was "not possible to continue" the fight.

Earlier this month, Moscow and Ankara negotiated a ceasefire in Syria's second city, Aleppo, that led to tens of thousands of rebel fighters and civilians being evacuated from an enclave besieged by government forces.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-38460127

Now, my personal opinion is: OH NO! NOT ANOTHER CEASEFIRE! All previous cease-fires were used by the various "rebel" (i.e. terrorist proxy) groups to regroup and re-arm. Every one has been a BIG mistake. And history shows that the most durable post civil war/ proxy war peace comes from a decisive military victory, not a stalemate (frozen conflict) or "negotiated" end. But considering that Turkey was a big terrorist supplier, maybe with THIS cease-fire Turkey will close its border with Syria and turn off the tap of foreign terrorists, arms, and trade. I hope. I imagine that the Russians will keep a close eye on that border.

Some guesses as to what this means for the future:

Since this cease-fire excludes al Nusra, ISIL, and their various "affiliated" groups, I guess this will be another (successive) winnowing of "sheep" from "goats". With each "pocket" that was closed: Daraya, Hama, Aleppo, Ghouta, Al-Tayyiba, Zaakiya, Al-Dayrkhabiyya. Mu'adhdhamiyya etc the Syrian offer has been the same: Lay down your arms (except rifles, which everyone is allowed to keep) and join the reconciliation, or take a bus ride to Idlib province. By now, Idlib must be chock-o-block full of foreign terrorists and unregenerant Syrian Sunni extremists/ war criminals.

"Why Idlib?" I've asked my astute military-minded friends, and the answer is that it is bordered by Turkey (to the north), Aleppo Province (to the east) and Latakia Province (to the west) and Tartus (the the southwest) is very close-by. The Russians have an airbase in Khmeimim, Latakia, and they lease a naval base in Tartus, Tartus. And of course, there is a huge concentration of government forces in Aleppo, to the east. So as long as Turkey closes that border, Idlib is effectively another pocket (cauldron), albeit larger.

It seems to me that those who chose Idlib were assuming that the Turkish border/ escape hatch would remain open, as before, otherwise they would have never picked such a dead-end. Likely the Syrian govt doesn't care if foreign terrorists flee across the border, but I'll bet Russia (and China) do: Foreign terrorists who run away live to fight another day, especially in Chechnya, Uzbekistan, Xinjiang etc. My GUESS is that the negotiated cease-fire means CLOSED BORDER, and that the foreign terrorists and unregenerate Syrian Sunni extremists will be allowed to marinade in Idlib, without supplies or reinforcements, and under harassment by Russian warplanes, until the SAA and its allies are ready to turn their attention there. That's Turkey's contribution to the cease-fire.

I read an EXTREMELY interesting critique of the Syrian Arab Army (the official army of the Syrian government) and it opined that there wouldn't be any way to fold the various militias and semi-independent fighting forces into the main army at this point and the only way to fix it was to rebuild it from the ground up. https://southfront.org/syrian-army-vitally-needs-reforms/

The Syrian government also just called up 10,000 reservists. Maybe this is when the SAA is rebuilt (although I doubt it, my guess is that these reservists will be used as "police forces" so the combat-ready forces can be deployed elsewhere.)

GOOD THING THE RUSSIANS SENT IN THEIR MILITARY POLICE INTO ALEPPO TO PREVENT ABUSES. Otherwise, I can imagine a lot of revenge-killings.

Also, what does this mean for Trump's proposal to "join forces" to "fight the Islamic State"?

It seems to me that this cease-fire might have been rammed through rather quickly to prevent any further USA involvement in Syria. While Trump's proposal sounds nice to Americans (sounds good to me anyway!) it looks like it doesn't sound so good to the Russians, or the Syrians. Or even the Turks.

Footage: ‘Moderate Rebels’ Fire US-Supplied Anti-Tank Missile On Civilians Walking Street In Southern Aleppo

The recently appeared footage shows so-called “moderate rebels” firing a US-supplied anti-tank guided missile on people walking down the street in southern Aleppo.

The video released on December 28. The incident took place in the Dahiet Al Assad area.

Pro-militant sources claim that people on the video were “regime fighters”, but fail to provide any evidence of this.

The video does not allow to identify these people as armed fighters.

Most likely, the so-called “moderate opposition” just killed another group of civilians returning homes in the souhthern part of Aleppo.

SEPARATING SHEEP FROM GOATS, CONT'D:

Quote:

An intensive infighting has erupted between ringleaders of the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (previously known as the al-Nusra Front) and Ahrar al-Sham terrorist groups due to disagreements over merger plans.

Mosleh al-Aliani, a Saudi mufti, associated with Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, accused the council of Ahrar al-Sham of disrupting plans for merging with the al-Nusra Front.

According to al-Aliani, the council of Ahrar al-Sham voted against the merger and prevented its implementation, despite the fact that earlier head of Ahrar al-Sham, Abu Ammar al-Umar, had agreed with plans to merge with the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham and Nour al-Din al-Zenki groups. The council believes that the merge may lead to inclusion of Ahrar al-Sham to the list of globally declared terrorist organizations.

However, Abu al-Bara Ma’arshamarin, a senior commander of Ahrar al-Sham, refuted the statement of al-Aliani and said that the council of the group did not hold a vote on joining to other militant groups.

Meanwhile, Hessam Salamah, another senior commander of Ahrar al-Sham, said that Jabhat Fateh al-Sham canceled a meeting, which was planned to be held without any prerequisite, and deferred implementation of the merger, explaining this step by the fact that such decisions should be taken by deputy Emir and military commander of the group. At the same time, commanders of the two other groups were ready to start the talks without any preconditions.

On Tuesday, the Fars news agency reported, citing unnamed battlefield sources, that a group, affiliated to Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, attacked a headquarters of the Free Idlib Army in Ma’rat Harama village in the southern parts of Idlib, killed its two field commanders, Ahmad al-Khatib and Younis Zariq, and then fled the scene.

According to the sources, an outpost of Ahrar al-Sham, located in al-Habit village in southern Idlib was also attacked by another group, which also managed to kill three members of the terrorist group.

Yanno what, KRAPO? I don't believe the UN report. Having looked at the pictures and the videos myself I can find evidence of only ONE potential bomb, which hit a warehouse, not "multiple" bombs, and certainly not "powerful" ones. If the trucks had been hit by a "powerful" bombs or missiles they would be far more damaged, and so would the structures around them. The trucks, though charred, are intact. There is some indication on one car of having been hit by debris, and there are a few chunks of concrete near the car. Since nobody seems to be bothered with providing detailed images what their analysis was based on, my guess is that the car was near the warehouse, and was hit by flying debris.

There is a tail fin of a rocket embedded in the warehouse debris ... boxes of goods which are curiously uncharred and undamaged. A person familiar with Russian ordnance posted that if the tail fin was part of its regularly associated bomb, the whole warehouse would have been destroyed, and all of the goods in it.

The UN report makes reference to "a" crater, not multiple craters. There is no indication where this crater is, and whether or not its even near the trucks. Or the warehouse.

Maybe the "White Helmets" ... those masters of disinformation ... set up the "airstrike" evidence ... you CAN explode propane tanks, for example ... to simulate "bomb" damage. But I point out, once again, that the trucks were burned, not bombed. There is far too much fire damage than can be accounted for by a bomb, and not enough explosive damage to indicate a "bombing run". Bellingcrap, for example, points to a "recently repaired crater" in the road next to one (charred) truck as evidence of a "bomb" ... basically it's a round dark splotch on the road which could be anything ... but they are so anxious to blame the Russians that they don't even ask themselves this question: Since the trucks are in "rebel" held territory, why the hell would "rebels" repair the road to cover up bomb damage which THEY say was caused by the Russians or Syrians? There isn't even logical sense in what they claim.

The explanation has to fit ALL of the evidence, not just some of it. I would need to know why there was so much fire damage and so little bomb damage. I would like to know where the cater(s) are and how close they are to the trucks. I guess I'd like to see good aerial/ satellite images with their purported explanations, and try to compare them to the videos from the ground, and match them up with various possible explanations and whether or not the various explanations are internally consistent - for example, it doesn't make sense to claim that bombs were dropped by helicopters AND jets, since they don't work in unison. Unless I can find more compelling evidence, I remain unconvinced.

Quote:

While you're at it, are you ready to back up (or withdraw) your claims about ISIS being in control of rebel-held Aleppo?
Too bad that's not what I said.

Quote:

The Red Cross and Red Crescent have completed the evacuation of some 35,000 people from eastern Aleppo. Buses and ambulances transported people to neighbouring rural areas during a week-long operation marked by stops and starts, and increasingly bad weather. One hundred critically wounded and sick patients were among the evacuees. Marianne Gasser, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Syria, said: “Our priority, aside from helping the most vulnerable, was to ensure that civilians were leaving of their own free will.
“These are communities whose neighbourhoods have been devastated by violence and families have been struggling for months to find safety, food, medical care or appropriate shelter. They appeared desperate to leave, even though the situation was extremely painful and confusing.”= KPO

It's extremely difficult to attribute Aleppan evacuations as to who was evacuated from where, since the eastern Allepan pocket collapsed in stages, and each collapse was accompanied by a wave of internally-displaced people. These 35,000 evacuees ... are these the "rebels" and their families being evacuated to Idlib? They might be, but the article is being extremely coy about describing who they are and where they're going, if that's the case.

IF they are, then the number of people the UN kept harping about ... 100,000 or more ... was too high by 70,000 (or more). And my guess ... 5,000 ... was too low by 30,000. This is one of those cases where the real number might be in the middle-ish.

Still, 80% of Aleppo is Sunni. 80% of 2 million is 1.6 million. 35,000 is hardly "ethnic cleansing", which KRAPO was so troubled over.

Now that east Aleppo was liberated/ has fallen (depending on your POV) the west and the UN have lost interest in Syria. It seems that when Syria is no longer a potential geopolitical conquest, all of that humanitarian concern kind of evaporates away, no?

Still, things are happening in Syria. There is no recorded fighting in Aleppo. Soccer returned, the local trains are running again. All of the fighting is far to the northeast ... where government territory touches ISIL territory, approaching al Bab.

The White Helmets have faded from Aleppo, to reappear in another Islamist stronghold - Wadi Barada - only to be chased out militarily (again), along with their fellow Islamists.
Quote:

The blockade of water from Wadi Barada to 5 million people in Damascus is taking an interesting turn. The U.S. and UK financed White Helmet organization seems to be directly involved in it. This increases the suspicion that the illegal blockade of water to civilians in Damascus is part of a organized campaign under U.S. command. The campaign is designed to block utilities to government held areas as revenge for the liberation of east Aleppo.

http://www.moonofalabama.org/2017/01/usuk-paid-white-helmets-help-bloc
king-water-to-5-million-thirsty-syrians.html
In thirsty Syria, water is a weapon.

The "rebels" which have been concentrated in Idlib Province through successive "surrender, evacuate, or die" agreements are now fighting amongst themselves. The two main surviving groups are both radical Islamist/Takfiri- one of them is Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda), the other is Ahrar al-Sham which
Quote:

aims to create an Islamic state under Sharia law, and was openly allied with Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (formerly the Al-Nusra Front, an affiliate of al-Qaeda) with which it carried out joint operations. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahrar_al-Sham
Allies and friends no longer! The "moderate rebels" of the Free Syrian Army are nowhere to be found in the Idlib melee.

That's a "lesson learned" for me: When a movement turns towards violence, only the most violent survive. Something to think about.

Meanwhile, the Russians withdrew some of their forces. The reorganized government Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is busy consolidating its control and probing into al Bab (ISIL territory) and ISIL is busy attacking the SAA, so it looks like the fight against ISIL is finally engaged by the Syrian government and its allies.

In what might be the most important step, Trump and Putin apparently had a long phone call, in which "fighting terrorism" figured prominently. If Russia, the USA, and Syria can actually coordinate on fighting al Qaeda and ISIL, they stand a good chance of winning. But Saudi Arabia and Qatar are going to be pissed!, since those are the respective backers of their proxy terrorists.

And in related military events, the war on Mosul is proceeding apace. After stalling out for a few months, eastern Mosul was liberated by the US-led coalition.

Thousands tortured and hanged by Syrian government - Amnesty International:

As many as 13,000 people, most of them civilian opposition supporters, have been executed in secret at a prison in Syria, Amnesty International says.

A new report by the human rights group alleges that mass hangings took place every week at Saydnaya prison between September 2011 and December 2015.

A single government jail. The tip of the iceberg.

Now that east Aleppo was liberated/ has fallen (depending on your POV) the west and the UN have lost interest in Syria. It seems that when Syria is no longer a potential geopolitical conquest, all of that humanitarian concern kind of evaporates away, no?

Nope SIG, the world is still watching. KPO's post on the hangings shows that. As for who believes Aleppo was liberated, that would be you and 1kiki. As for who believes Aleppo has fallen, that would be everyone else.

"The world"?

What would you know of "the world"?

Do you know what China thinks? South America? Africa? The people of Syria?

Of course not, and the reason why is because YOU REFUSE TO READ WHAT THE WORLD SAYS.

So fuck you and your pretense of speaking for "the world".

BTW- The so-called "report" is, like so much else in the media: fake news. The pictures which purport to validate the "mass graves" but instead show individual graves in a military cemetery just demonstrate how pathetic the information is.

Didn't you learn anything from the 16 items of "fake news" that you so-called trusted sources published and disseminated? Or the "fake news" about Iraq's so-called WMD (pushed by Judith Miller of the NYT - a trusted source) or the fake massacre in Libya, published by Human Right Watch? The fake baby-incubator story?

You should treat ALL news as "fake news" until demonstrated otherwise.

Does that include everything you just said? Because I notice that you didn't post any links to support any of your assertions. And even when you do, they are invariably to Russian state media or ideological-fringe blogs that parrot Russian state media (as well as peddling 9/11 conspiracy theories and all sorts of photo-shopped bullshit).

Good of you to warn us of 'fake news', but you are demonstrably the biggest propagator of it on this board.

DREAMTROVE

SO not walking into this firestorm, just to feed a piece of information.

This is NOT a conspiracy theory, it's now established fact now, so whoever this helps, you're welcome, whoever loses point on this score, sorry, that's life.

The Turkish militants just confessed to their part in the Benghazi transfer of chemical weapons to Al Nusra for use against Assad in a false flag attack.

Their report completely backs up the story Seymour Hersh broke a couple years ago, the real story of Benghazi, that HRC used JSCO to transfer the weapons and then transfer weapons to Libyan rebels along with a list of targets that included the American consulate.

Hersh basically covers everything in his article, so there's not need for me to do so here, but I know the New Yorker originally rejected the story because they thought it would hurt Hillary, so it ran in Al Jazeera, a few on others.

The conclusion of the piece is that the gas attacks, both the initial 1500 victim attack and the total 15000, were in fact carried out from Al Nusra, with weapons surrendered to the Benghazi US consulate by Muammar Gaddafi. The weapons were transfered to Al Nusra by HRC. Al Nusra carried out the attacks, as a false flag to blame Assad and get open western support. They failed to get open support and have since joined ISIS.

Again, not arguing the point, just posting to end any argument as to the responsibility for the gas attacks, and the source of chemical weapons in Syria.

This research is based on more than 70 interviews with 20 survivors of rape, dozens of former detainees, dozens of doctors, lawyers, activists and humanitarian workers, as well as three defectors from the regime security apparatus. From March to November 2016, interviews were conducted in person in Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan, or on Skype, alongside Syrian translators.

Grim reading.

First cites, then go back and read this thread. See if you think 1kiki and SIG are trolling on behalf of Russia. Then, well I'll wait and see what you say. Whether you read the thread or not, whether you comment or not. Both will be very telling. This post by you also gives hints to what you'll do, what you'll say. Others here besides me will pick up clues about you from what you do, what you say.
