WISH, to answer your ??? - no, DNA was not being used then.

AFA Bill Cosby is concerned, I withhold judgment. A lot of people can say a lot of things, especially many years after the fact. And since Cosby has SO CLEARLY been warned by his lawyers not to say anything, he is required to be mute even if accused by 100 women.

I believe the statute of limitations has run out on the rape charges, but there should be a competent investigation where all of the facts can be presented and disputed, witnessed called who testify under oath, and .... no, that doesn't mean in the press.

Yes, but a LOT of people HAVE said something at this point. The balance of probability lies with Cosby being a rapist. Whether or not the girls said something or just hoped to get a career out of it doesn't change the fact that he DRUGGED them and had sex with them when they were incapable of giving consent. It's still RAPE. Some people are just waaaaay more ok with being raped than I ever would. If I were raped and the police do nothing, I would happily have hubby hold the person down while I performed a very, very slow "Bobbiting".

Hoping to put it to rest, I wrote this summary to myself today:

Currently, the media is having a feeding frenzy about accusations of rape against Bill Cosby. BC is one of the most famous negroes in America, and everyone from my generation onward is familiar with him: he's more famous than the president. He's a very popular & respected entertainer. But he may have a Mr. Hyde side. Now & back in 2006, numerous women have accused him of rape. No one who likes him wants to believe it. Far as I've heard to date, there's no physical evidence, no eye witnesses. These rapes are said to have happened 60's-80's, when he was most successful-famous. ... I don't want to devote time to this. I wanna dump it & go on. The evidence is all verbal. Many victims spoke up; now even some men are getting on board: there were a few who watched his back while he was having fun, & perhaps didn't know it was rape. There were more, reporters (for Pete's sake!) who got a whiff of it, but didn't track it down. Hollywood has always generated heaps of scandal, loving every minute of them. Hard to believe that the reporters didn't run with this one.* ... Now commentators are saying, "Well, those were the times." Back in those days, rape wasn't reported much. If it was, the victim was mostly ignored, disbelieved. Me: Men, in general (not all of them), have always had a defense for this accusation: A united front of denial reinforced by ridicule.** ... It's not just that he's being exposed after all these years. It's that his public image is the exact opposite. He's been a paragon of decency, a preacher for responsibility. Hypocrisy doubles the reaction. Most of us admired him; so we're all betrayed if the rap is true.

Me ... I find the weight, spread & pattern of the stories to be convincing. Not only that, either ... couple years ago listening to one of his old stand-up comedy routines, I suddenly saw him as essentially an abusive person. Others have published links to a routine where, they claim, he jokes about using Spanish Fly.

* They didn't cover up Fatty Arbuckle's fatal rape of Virginia Rappe, 1921. An American moment between chaste Puritanism and flamboyant Flappers.
