And this one flying around on planes while infected, yeah!

Is it the new game for incompetent Obamadrones to blame workers - who they promised would be safe - for supposedly being incompetent?
Crassic.

I thought the Black President promised everybody would be safe from the Ebola he was bringing in, right?

Conservatives never cared a bit about Ebola during the nearly 40 years it was in Africa.

Now they're in a panic because they're worried they might be vulnerable to something they thought only happened to poor black people.

Disingenuous and lying cartoon. How many health care workers and media types have been infected and DIED, while trying to combat Ebola in Africa ?

Oh, how Clinton and the Leftist MSM cared about the massacre that was taking place between the Hutu and the Tutsi. You remember, the April 7 - July 15 1994, when over 500,000 died in a bloody ,violent genocide ?

Bono praised George W Bush for all the $ he directed to help fight AIDS in Africa, which has killed FAR more than Ebola ever will, but you conveniently turn a blind eyes to those facts. Gee, wonder why.

And funny to see 1kiki get all bent out of shape over 1 comment made which was accurate, while ignoring the utterly hateful and despicable comment where 1 a-hole shows no concern at all for fellow Americans, simply because of where they live.

Do ya think President Bobo is calling up his buddies with the Islamo-terrorists and asking if they can do a beheading to change the headlines again? Or do you think the Ebola headlines are not as distracting on the Putting Greens?

And what is with the Freidman idiot at CDC saying you can not get infected from an Ebola carrier by sitting next to them on a bus, but nobody with Ebola should travel on a bus because you might infect somebody on the bus? You can't make this stuff up.

From a virological standpoint, from a position of a virus trying to spread itself, Texas is probably the best place in the country for Ebola to land. Texas is a shit-hole, a third-world scum trap with some of the highest concentrations of stupid people (who vote Republican overwhelmingly) and uninsured people. It's a prime spot for something like Ebola to take root in the U.S.

As well, Texas fancies itself as being part of the old "wild west." As such, it eschews regulations, even in such places as hospitals (unless they're dealing with lady parts, of course); look at the reports from the private hospital that treated the first victim to death - medical waste piled to the ceiling, nurses told to treat other patients directly after dealing with the Ebola patient, not enough training, not enough equipment, not enough isolation.

This is Rick Perry's fault, and this is the fault of the people of Texas and the GOP. When you cut funding for research into virulent diseases and slash regulations, you set yourself up for a nightmare scenario. The people of Texas will, if this is a pandemic, get exactly what they voted for.

Or the gem where he says we must isolate Ebola in Africa, but the best way to do that is NOT to stop commercial flights to and from the infected countries, because that would only spread the disease more.

I thought it cute and clever when Pippen tricked Tree Beard into taking him and Merry towards Orthanc, instead of away, but that backwards " logic " doesn't work here, Tommy boy. Sometimes to isolate something, you must actually isolate it.

An excellent response from "Tom Joad:"

Quote:

Late last night an alert was issued from the White House, advising the president had decided to cancel a visit to Rhode Island and New York, in order to continue “monitoring the ongoing government response to the threat posed by the Ebola virus.”

Or, as many right-wing propagandists interpreted that news: “to monitor how fast Obama can give us all ‘the Ebola,’ declare martial law, and take our guns.” They even have a t-shirt. When your entire life revolves around irrational fear, a health crisis half a world away is “an epidemic sweeping across the nation.” Thanks, Obama!

Except, of course, THERE IS NO EPIDEMIC in this country. The BREAKING NEWS, NATION ON HIGH ALERT, and PLANELOAD OF PASSENGERS IN PERIL headlines screaming at us 24-hours-a-day aren’t helping much, either.
Here are the FACTS: you don’t have ‘the Ebola.’ You’re not going to GET the Ebola virus, unless you fly to Dallas, barge into an isolation unit and french kiss Nina Pham or Amber Vinson (and even then there’s a good chance that if you DID, you STILL wouldn’t get it). Relax.

Yes, the president cancelled his scheduled trip to “continue monitoring the U.S. response to Ebola,” which Politico dubbed merely “optics” from an administration concerned about midterm elections (seriously?) and Fox News referred to as “scrambling” to “to ease concerns over the spread of Ebola.” Excuse me — what “spread?” Two health care professionals who came in direct contact to a dying patient have tested positive and are currently in isolation. That’s it.

I know — let’s blame the victims; media reports have largely focused on what these women did “wrong.” Well, for starters, they went to work for a private, for-profit hospital which sent a Liberian patient home, because PROFITS. Thanks, capitalism. It’s not as though when Thomas Eric Duncan initially arrived for treatment, “LIBERIA” might have acted like a large, blinking, neon sign of caution for the resident on duty.

By the time Thomas became highly infectious, he returned to a hospital which not only didn’t have CDC protocols in place, they didn’t even have a hazmat suit on site. The staff did the best they could under the circumstances to protect themselves, but yes, a couple of the people caring for a dying man did contract the virus.

If you’re looking for a villain here, my money’s on irresponsible journalists and lawmakers who infect ordinary Americans with irrational fears which, as it turns out, is a lot easier than contracting Ebola. People like Representative Tom Marino (R-PA), who just called for the resignation of CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden, because “This Ebola situation is beginning to spiral beyond control.”

No, it’s not, you imbecilic clown. What’s next, Tom?! Shouting “fire” in a crowded theater? President Obama is NOT offering a “false sense of security to many of our citizens,” he’s offering them the FACTS, without the side-order of paranoia: "Because of the measures that we’ve put in place, as well as our world-class health system and the nature of the Ebola virus itself – which is difficult to transmit – the chance of an Ebola outbreak in the United States is extremely low."

And can we PLEASE stop suggesting that “a temporary travel ban for such individuals who live in or have traveled from certain West African countries” is somehow “reasonable and timely?” You couldn’t be more wrong if you were twins, Congressman Bill Shuster, (R-PA), and Senator John Thune, (R-SD). Again, dealing with facts is always a good idea.

"In recent months we’ve had thousands of travelers arriving here from West Africa, and so far only one case of Ebola has been diagnosed in the United States, and that’s the patient in Dallas."

Yes, the Ebola virus might hitch a ride to the states in an airline passenger, but it’s not “airborne,” as some other irresponsible parties have suggested. Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, reminds us “it’s very unusual for a virus to change how it’s transmitted.” Take AIDS, for example.
"Of all the years we’ve known HIV, and with all the replication and mutation, it has never changed its transmission … [with Ebola] it’s not the paramount issue on my mind because it’s fundamentally unlikely."

In the “fundamentally unlikely” event you find yourself caring for a patient with Ebola, don’t just “wear three or four pair of latex gloves” (like the staff at Texas Presbyterian Hospital was doing when the CDC arrived on site). During the press conference in the Roosevelt Room at the White House yesterday, President Obama also said this:
"I know that the American people are concerned about the possibility of an Ebola outbreak, and Ebola is a very serious disease. And the ability of people who are infected who could carry that across borders is something that we have to take extremely seriously. At the same time, it is important for Americans to know the facts."

Fact: you don’t have ‘the Ebola.’ Fact: your odds of becoming infected are slim to none. For example, you can’t get it by sitting next to someone on a plane (unless they’re already displaying symptoms — and even then you’d have to really work at it to get sick).

You areTWICE as likely to contract HIV or SARS from someone who has it — and ten times more likely to get the mumps from an infected patient — than you are to get sick from someone who has been exposed to Hepatitis C or ‘the Ebola’ virus.

Fact: half the adults surveyed in a recent poll believe there will be a wide-ranging epidemic of ‘the Ebola’ right here in the United States during the coming year. Not surprisingly, half the country also votes for Republicans. Any questions? Get the facts — the White House Blog is an excellent source of information about the disease, and what we all can do to stay healthy.

You’re welcome.

Senegal, one of the world's poorest countries, announced today that the nation is Ebola-free.

So Senegal beat the U.S. at containing and controlling Ebola. And they seem to have done it without travel bans despite being in the area where Ebola is currently rampaging through its nearby neighbors.

Nigeria is also on the verge of being free of Ebola, with no new cases reported in almost 40 days (nearly twice the longest known incubation period for the disease).

Third-world nations do a better job than blood-red Texas. That really should be a major embarrassment for the GOP. Also of note is the fact that Ebola patients are being taken out of Texas because it's widely recognized now that Texas and Texans are simply incapable of providing decent health care to people in the state.

Texas Governor Rick Perry is begging for federal help now. Wasn't he going to secede just a couple years ago?

Worrying that Ebola might not be contained in Texas is fairly telling. It means you think the U.S. - and Texas in particular - has worse healthcare and education than many third-world countries in Africa. Ebola spreads primarily in poor, uneducated populations without access to adequate healthcare or sanitation and with little or no government regulation on such things - precisely the kinds of conditions Republicans have been fighting for all over the U.S.

If you're that worried about Ebola in the U.S., you need to ask yourself why you worked so hard to make the U.S. such a complete shit-hole. Especially Texas. Fuck that place. Bono: George Bush, evangelicals saved 9 million AIDS victims

U2 frontman Bono, who moonlights as an activist for the poor and sick in Africa, is crediting evangelical Christians and former President George W. Bush for saving 9 million from the ravages of AIDS, a campaign the musician said is blessed by God.

"This should be shouted from the rooftops. This is a heroic American story," Bono said in a remarkable radio interview with Jim Daly, the president of Focus on the Family, to be broadcast by the group Tuesday.

Talking freely about God, his marriage, and his relationship with Jesus in the interview provided in advance to Secrets, Bono said that evangelical Christians helped him sell the Bush administration on fighting AIDS in Africa, which he compared to the biblical humanity in tackling leprosy.

"It was the evangelicals that did that," said Bono. "Because they, like myself, pestered George Bush and the administration, who actually deserve praise for starting this out," he added of the $15 billion President's Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief program.

The interview marked a shift for Focus on the Family as it expands its ministry to offer a voice to those not typically considered Christian-focused and broaden its reach to new generation.

"The way Bono lives out his faith is a message we are trying to emphasize with families every day," said Daly.

In the interview, recorded at New York's American Bible Society, Bono didn't hide his ties to God or the lessons he learned from his example. "I believe that Jesus was, you know, the son of God," he said, adding, "Jesus isn't letting you off the hook."

Bono, whose ONE Campaign is encouraging rich nations to forgive debt to poor nations, described the New Testament as the blueprint for justice and personal redemption. "Jesus begins his ministry by, what, by quoting Isaiah. He walks into the temple and he said, 'That the blind may see, set the captives free, that the poor'--all the sort of justice agenda. That's how Christ began," said Bono.

He also compared Jesus to radical punk rock music. "Jesus didn't have many manners as we now know," he said. Recalling a story where Jesus told a man not to wait and bury his father but to follow him immediately, Bono rejected Daly's "cold-hearted" characterization. "Seems punk rock to me. He could see right into that fellow's heart. He knew he wasn't coming and he was just, it was pretense. We've gotta be a bit more cutting edge, not look to the signs of righteousness. Look to the actions."

Bono is currently working on a new album with U2 and gave Daly a high compliment after the Focus on the Family chief quoted C.S. Lewis: "When a man is getting better, he understands more and more clearly the evil that's left in him. When a man is getting worse, he understands his own badness less and less."

Said Bono, "That could turn up on the next U2 album." Then he smirked, "But I won't give him or you any credit."

News today: The first patient to contract Ebola in US, Amy Phan is now Ebola-free, claims NIH. And has photo-op with Obama in meida-banned press evant. Second patient Amber Vincent reportedly also Ebola-free at CDC.

Reportedly Duncan died 8 October, so after 21 days of incubation, we shall find out on 29 October how many he infected.

Amber Vincent travelled commercial jet on 14 October, right? So on 4 November (Election Day for Conservatives - Express voting for Liberals is on 5 November, no waiting in lines) we can find out how many were infected by her before she was hospitalized.

Except that WHO says the incubation period is 42 days, so the above dates need to add another 21 days to them.

My prediction is that you'll find that zero people were infected by her.

My prediction is that you'll also find that number of people infected by the doctor in New York.

For a disease that's supposedly so much easier to get than AIDS, a whole lot of Americans don't seem to be dying of it.

Cite? Every piece of info I can find says the incubation period is 2 to 21 days.

I think you're mistaking their overabundance of caution and you're conflating that to claim that they said something that nobody else seems to have heard them say.

Is it possible you mis-heard something?

More people were shot and killed today at one high school than have died of Ebola in this country in all of its history.

But by all means, let's panic about Ebola. That's the *real* threat.

Try yahoo search for "ebola free nigeria who" and peruse the vast gobs of reading available.
If you are really really waiting for your dosage of WH Talking Points to confirm real world facts, sorry to confuse your delusion.

So you don't have a single cite for your misinformation, then?

I'm stunned.

Further proof that you are a complete moron: The WHO is certifying regions as "Ebola-free" after 42 days of no new cases reported. That's twice as long as the longest-known incubation period, because they want to be extra-careful in said certification process.

You really don't have any basic understanding of science or medicine, do you?

Well, not only does he get his 'science' and 'medicine' information from FUX, he believes it.

I understand the interwebs can be so difficult to comprehend for the eternally ignorant libtards. Try next time. Make an effort. You can do it if you try. We know you can overcome your libtarism.

Shock W.H.O. report: Ebola has 42-day incubation period, not 21 days!

Your first mistake was in believing a rag where the writers were willfully ignorant and abysmally unable to read English (or flagrant hucksters). Your second mistake was being the same way yourself. Your third mistake was posting your tripe here as if it was meaningful. Your fourth mistake was substituting vileness for discussion. And your fifth mistake, frankly, was ... guess.

Now, the OFFICIAL WHO report, below, which states IN PLAIN ENGLISH that the incubation period is 21 days

http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/statements/2014/nigeria-ends-ebola
/en
/

The 42 days represents twice the maximum incubation period for Ebola (21 days).
