Race relations in this country took another hit this past Saturday when it was revealed that the owner of the LA Clippers had a few choice things to say about Black and Brown people.

And now he has been Banned for Life from the NBA.

Still to come: a vote to see if he can maintain ownership of the Clippers.
The players participated in a silent protest and now it's just a matter of time to see if he will be allowed to own an NBA team.

My money's on the NBA.

I don't understand the title of this thread.

No where have I heard anyone claim that he's a " hero " for anyone.

Sterling has been soundly rejected by all. He's a miserable dirt bag.

Where have you heard otherwise ?

Exactly, it's a Fox title..................get it.

He's obviously not a hero to anyone, especially the common man, but in his twisted mind he thought he was. I was being annoyingly sarcastic.

He's just the extreme version of those who claim things like how the inner city urban men don't look for work and want to live on the government's dime. It's the same people who run around accusing folk of cheating and stealing votes, and when you call them on it "Oh, I misspoke."

Sterling is just so far to the right that he almost comes back full circle.

Ahh. Sarcasm. Got it.

Wasn't sure others would grasp the concept.

Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen

I'm just a red pill guy in a room full of blue pill addicts.

This isn't news, folks.

Racism claims against Clippers owner Donald Sterling: This isn't the first time

2006: Justice Department accuses Sterling of housing discrimination
A Justice Department lawsuit filed in 2006 accused Sterling's rental company of refusing to lease Beverly Hills apartments to African-Americans, refusing to rent to non-Koreans in the Koreatown section of Los Angeles County and turning away families with children from its properties.
That case was settled in 2009, with Sterling agreeing to pay nearly $3 million but continuing to deny the accusations.

"The magnitude of this settlement should send a message to all landlords that we will vigorously pursue violations of the Fair Housing Act," Thomas E. Perez, then head of the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division, said at the time.
Robert Platt, a lawyer for the Sterling Family Trust, said at the time that the settlement includes no admission of liability and the government "could not identify a single individual who was wrongfully denied the right to rent an apartment from the trust." He said the company had a "zero-tolerance" policy regarding discrimination.

"My clients vehemently and unequivocally deny that anyone was discriminated against," Platt said in a written statement on the settlement. "Nevertheless, the insurance companies for the trust decided to settle the case because the cost of continued litigation far exceeded the cost of settlement."

( Hold on...2006 ? Wasn't that during the Bush years, aka the Jim Crow / KKK era of American History ? )

Old Don has given mega $ to left wingers and their causes, he's a big lefty. For example, he likes to buy awards from the NAACP.

He is a bigot plain and simple. Most are from the south and the sparse areas in the mid-west and we all know how they vote.

If he did not own a team in a predominantly African American business, I don't think it would be an all out assault. That is why I am willing cut his detractors some slack in dealing with him.

Point is, the league was just fine w/ him and his views when the Clippers were the laughing stock of LA.

But now, with the Lakers in free fall, and the Clippers advancing in the playoffs, the embarrassment can no longer be tolerated, or swept under the rug.

THAT is why we're seeing the reaction now, and not 10 or even 20 years ago.

There is a lot of truth in what you say. Still if you are going to remove an owner you need something this agreeance to do so.

The league was fine with him because of the previous incidents offered little solid evidence of his racism. The lawsuit he settled but did not admit guilt, am sure there was a gag order with that settlement. So going after him at that point would have looked like a witch hunt.

I do not fear God, I fear the ignorance of man.
