Hollywood will still defend him. At least the kooky ,fringe elitists in Hollywood will. Just as they defended Roman Polanski. Doesn't matter that he assaulted a 13 yr old, while Woody violated his own 7 yr old daughter. It's just how men of great vision act sometimes. Regrettable, sure, but what's done is done. Move on.

That's what Hollywood will say.

Hope I'm wrong.

I always thought he was a narcissitic, self-involved creep.

And now we can start talking about Woody Allen!

The poor woman.

FWIW I never liked any of his movies. To this day I wonder what people see in them.

Me too. There was one scene, one, in Annie Hall that I thought was funny, and that was an incidental piece of physical comedy that I didn't think Woody Allen had it in him to pull off. And yes, I think he's a narcissistic creep.

Actors and directors aren't like normal people. They haven't been for 100 years. I don't know how they do what they do and I respect their special talents. I enjoy their products, and generally give them all a pass on personal behavior because I don't know any of them. I love Woody Allen movies. My favorites are Take The Money And Run, Love and Death, Sleeper, Stardust Memories, Zelig, Broadway Danny Rose, and Annie (dynamite ham!) Hall.

I seem to remember enjoying "Love and Death" when I was a child. That may well have been the last Woody Allen movie I saw. I've made efforts to avoid him since the whole Sun-Yi thing came out and these allegations first started coming to light. Something's terribly wrong with that dude, and I won't pay him money while he gets away with it.

Not sure what that has to do w/ anything. I don't recall anyone rushing to defend that, nor is Ted part of " Hollywood ".

Fair attempt at trolling, though.

I think there were/are a lot of people in that industry who live in a morality free zone, or perhaps more aptly put, a belief system that satisfying their own apetites and desires overrules the impact that doing so might have on others. Roman Polanski was the same and Mia was no shining beacon of doing the right thing in relationships - albeit I acknowledge that infidelity is a far cry from incest and child abuse.

I actually love a lot of Woody Allen films, Annie Hall, Manhattan, Sleeper all favourites and I recently watched Vicky Christina Barcelona and surprised myself by loving it. still, like Elvischrist, I'm disturbed by the Soon-Yi relationship enough to mostly avoid his films these days.

Woody Allen is a talented, but deeply flawed man. The first indication was when he seduced Sun-Yi then married her. Right there, that screamed pedophile.

Roman Polanski took advantage of a young girl and is in that same vile club.

The thing is that putting that young kid on a stand could possibly be devastating for the kid. This is a tough case only because of that.

I think the question I'd like to ask him was 'how did you think it would all turn out when you started an affair with the daughter of the woman you were involved with?'

Dylan O'Sullivan Farrow
July 11, 1985 (age 28 years)
Age 28-30: Unfinished business will Out.

While she's not exactly a kid anymore, this is a very critical
time in her life. Besides, chronological age means little for
abused or otherwise damaged children.

Thankfully, she's now able to speak out.

He probably did it. The prosecutor back then only dropped the case because they were concerned it would further traumatize the girl. Which is a pretty dumb reason. And even if the trauma they were referring to was only just that Allen's ex put ideas in the girl's head to sway some divorce proceedings, there's still the matter of that whole Soon Yi thing. There's precedence.

Strange timing though. Why bring it up again now? Something else going on the Farrows wanted to shed some light on?

I didn't follow the whole Soon Yi story all that closely, only hearing what was repeated by everyone. Which means it's probably wrong. So, how old each when they started 'dating' ? And by that, I mean having 'relations'. It's not like he was living in the same house w/ her, bathing her as she was a toddler, and then waiting a few years before laying hands on her, was it ? I thought she was 19 or so. Still creepy and twisted as hell, but he wasn't her 'father figure',as I understand it. He was dating her mom, Mia, and it wasn't like he was her step dad. Or am I wrong here ?

Just that the guy who got a lifetime achievement award (if I read the story correctly) that is being publicly lionized is a piece of shit. That's what I got out of the story.

There is the whole issue of "innocent until proven guilty" and "being tried in the court of public opinion". Which is why I haven't reached any conclusions about Allen's guilt or innocence. But as far as I'm concerned, Allen has made a life's-work of being self-involved, and boy- does it show in his movies! I wouldn't give him a piece of dog crap for his movies.

Well, OK, maybe a piece of dog crap, but that's about it.

Mini-bio, IMDb:
"Woody Allen was born on December 1, 1935, as Allen Konigsberg, in
Brooklyn, New York. At the age of 15, he started selling one-liners
to gossip columns. After working a while as a stand up comedian, he
was hired to write What's New Pussycat (1965) in 1965. He directed
his first film a year later, What's Up, Tiger Lily? in 1966."

I've probably seen 3 of his movies and forgot them.

Oddly, I do remember Woody Allen, 60's stand up comic on TV.
He was a typical Jewish boy, super neurotic and a hypochondriac.
That was his shtick, his routine, the only thing I remember about
him. But I believed it. He portrayed himself as very emotionally
dysfunctional. That's how I always saw him. It's hard to make that
stuff up; you'd have to live it. I was kind of glad to see someone
able to turn his emotional baggage into a good living.

He told us from the start who he was. He even joked about his
unbridled lust.

Well, not a toddler, but Mia Farrow adopted Soon Yi when she was 8 in 1978, and Farrow was dating Woody Allen by 1980. So Soon Yi was ten when they met. The relationship between them wasn't revealed until Soon Yi was 21. Supposedly Allen was busy with other things and she never really saw him as a father figure and they only hooked up when Soon Yi was in her 20s, but who knows.

Plus, I dunno, it seems like the kinda antipathy Allen's son and daughter by Farrow have don't just come from nowhere. Dylan's TERRIFIED of him. Mia could have manipulated them into hating him, sure, but there's something more here than just that their father figure married their sister figure. It's personal.

The well is poisoned sufficiently with Woody and Soon Yi's relationship . But unlike with Roman Polansky, there was no real evidence nor admission of guilt against Woody of having sex with a minor.

OMG, am I actually defending this degenerate ?

No. Just putting a few facts out there.
