AURAPTOR

America loves a winner!

Virtually none of those things listed have anyhting to do w/ Reagan or his Administration.

Reagan was perhaps the best President in the last 50 yrs, I say the last century.

Ronald Reagan brought dignity, righteousness, and leadership, and appropriate respect for the office of the President. He was the only president in my lifetime I felt unquestionably earned and made the most of his time there. I can only hope that our current president Bush does half as well as RR in his second term.

Rest in peace.

I am never suprised to see you here, Ghoul, towing the heavy liberal, communist, socialist, or left view. It's not worth my time to rebutt you anymore.. I disagree with you; I disagree with you; I disagree with you.

Why is everybody getting so angry? I know Reagan did some awful things in office, such as the Iran-Contra affair, which was a crime hundreds of times worse than Watergate. Still, Reagan made you feel like you had some dignity as an American. Instead of feeling ashamed of the past, he made you feel confident about the future. And, the truth is, there's not a person here with clean hands--everybody's made a mistake at one time or another. I'm not saying he should be made out to be a perfect man (as some people are trying to do), but at the same time, he was far from our worst president.

Ummm...anyone else think Ghoulman's account was shanghai'd by his 12 year old brother? I'm serious. The intelligence of his last few remarks, tho rife with GM's trademark vitriol, has seriously declined.

If you read this GM, kick your punk kid brother off your comp. If it really IS you saying these things, talk to us after you finish puberty. Your last few responses have not been sagacious.

By the way, having lived through Reagan's, Bush Sr's, Clinton's, and Bush Jr's presidency's (not to mention living with Clinton's governorship here in Arkansas), I'd have to agree that RR was one of the better CIC's to come along. I'd rate him the best of the President's I recall (was too young to have an opinion about Carter or Johnson).

I gots man parts. Wanna see 'em?

I love it when cursing is considered childish by rightious old ladies online.

Ronald Reagan certainly did ride a long way on his charisma. It's his record as president I have trouble with. You rate him as the best... well, there are 66 things posted above showing how shitty Ronny was at being president. You may not agree... but I don't see your list.

It's not that cursing is considered childish, GM. It's that your last few posts have been little more than "well, YOU'RE A (insert random expletive here)!" Name calling is not the way to convince others of your position, it is the last resort of those who have no real argument, just the need for attention. I was genuinely concerned, as several of your previous posts were quite thought provoking. I honestly thought someone had been using your account without your knowledge.

BTW, of the 66 items listed, I found few, very few, that were actually credible and not just nit-picking and edited for support. There are a few, namely the whole Contra thing, as well as a couple others that simply don't spring to mind at the moment, that are valid points. There are a quite a few, however, that don't make sense.

Teflon. Whats the story behind that? I'm really in the dark behind that bit, can you shed some light?

Three-by-five cards. I guess those are notecards for speeches, but I'm not sure. More info please?

Air raids on Lybia. What, the ones that brought the terrorists in who were trying to sneak out of Lybia, or the ones that told Lybia to quit taking (or threatening to take) pot-shots at American ships? Been a while, but I remember the whole bit about international waters and his wanting to claim them.

Falling wages. If you are talking about the whole wages vs. inflation bit, I think we broke even (barely). I remember getting pay raises regularly then.

Teflon. I'm not kidding. I'm scratching my head for the reference here. It's gonna plague me for the whole weekend.

For the record, for those of you who didn't live (at least, weren't a sheltered child) during those times, I remember going to bed afraid someone would screw up and start tossin' nukes about. We (the human race) could, at one point, destroy every living thing on planet Earth FIFTY TIMES OVER. We could reduce this planet to a smoldering cinder, where maybe, JUST maybe, cockroaches and a few folks living in the absolute boondocks would survive. Ever see the Mad Max movies? The game Twilight 2000? The post-apocalyptic theme ran strong in those times. When RR finally brokered a peace with USSR, when the Berlin wall came down, when Glasnost kicked into gear, there was a collective sigh of relief heard throughout the world. No, he wasn't responsible for all of it, or even most of it. Or even 90% or 95% of it. But he was there to oversee the END of it, and did help it along. And that's something.

Was he a saint? No.
Was he charismatic? Yes.
Did he have Alzeimer's? Yes.
Did Nancy consult an astrologer? Who cares, really?
He did more in his two terms in office than most presidents did, bad and especially good. That is what I remember about him.

P.S.
Teflon...please help! WHAT'S WRONG WITH TEFLON???

OK, I think your post is really great.

And hey, when people troll me (a lot) on an unmoderated board, and "hijack" threads they don't like, my "id" comes out with a vengance. Childish? No no... I'm BITTER! lol!

Note that this "Doran" guy posted insults in ALL of my threads here (none have any opinions he might possess). I would like to nominate him for King of the Trolls.

The "Teflon" thing refers to RRs magic ability to get away with things. As for your opinions about RRs success as a President... well, I don't agree but at least you didn't call me names and answered with insight.

NP, GM, and thanx. Several posts on both sides have been heated, but I had noticed a lot of venom from your direction and got concerned. Hadn't read alot of posts of others that had a concrete insight and chose to ignore the trolling, but I expected more from you (much higher standard of posts, even if I didn't agree with what you said.)

As for "teflon," ah thanx, I remember that now. I thought it had something to do with the "cop killer" bullets that came out around the same time and was curious as to how Ronnie was linked to those. Confusion abounded. To be honest, a more recent president had a teflon hide, or more accurately, could deflect interest from things I really DIDN'T like to insignificant things. Like Monica Lewinski (no, I am not fond of BC.) So I guess you could say Bill's teflon was the Dems response to Ronnies teflon. Lots of pressies gettin' off the hook these days, notice that?
