WASHINGTON (AP) — The Associated Press has learned that the Homeland Security Department official in charge of the agency’s immigration enforcement and removal operations has resigned after hundreds of illegal immigrants were released from jails because of government spending cuts.

In an email obtained Wednesday by the AP, Gary Mead told coworkers that he was leaving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the end of April. Mead is the head of enforcement and removal operations at ICE.

Mead had told co-workers of his resignation in the email sent Tuesday, hours after U.S. officials had confirmed that a few hundred illegal immigrants facing deportation had been released from immigration jails due to budget cuts.

President Barack Obama’s spokesman said Wednesday the White House was never consulted but described the immigrants as “low-risk, non-criminal detainees.”

You mean the "budget cuts" that don't actually cut the budget, but merely reduce the 2013 budget to a point where it's still higher than 2012? Those "budget cuts"? Or the "budget cuts" that equate to 2% of the $3.5 trillion dollar budget? Those "budget cuts"?

2000 - 2012 U.S. est. population increased by 10%
2000 - 2012 US budget spending increased by 98%

All those bastards, both Democrats and Republicans, have truly stolen the future from the next generations of Americans. They're all addicted to spending, and like all drug addicts they don't want to ever stop.

Yeah, let 'em all out of jails and prisons...who cares.

Saddam Hussein did the same thing, letting prisoners out , before the Gulf War.

This is not with out precedent.

Pity you're apparently unable to persuade anyone to have sex with you without paying them for it or forcing them into it. Can't say I'm really surprised though, given the wit you two charmers generally show around here.

No. This $85 billion is the most efficient and well-used money in govt. This money secures the borders, runs immigration detention, pays for both TSA security AND the Air Traffic Control System, runs the US Navy, 800,000 civilian DOD employees, hundreds of thousands of soldiers and marines, pays for all the teachers and firefighters, allows families to borrow money for new homes and college, keeps people healthy, inspects meat, and is the only thing between you and terrorists taking over your home town.

I say we keep this $85 billion...cause we need it. The rest of the $3,000,000,000,000.00 some odd dollars I think we can do without.

No, no, no...that was Ted Danson.

Caligula (Emperor 37-41 A.D.), son of Germanicus, nephew of Claudius, was a sex addict from a very early age. As a young teen he was encouraged by his family elders to bed all the young ladies of the court. He spent much time on Capri with his predecessor Emperor Tiberius, where he perfected his particular brand of sexual debauchery. And yet after all that, he chose to marry his sister. Indeed, blood is thicker than olive oil.

As long as Obama can still play lots of golf, host swanky parties with Beyonce and Snoop Dogg, and take lavish vacations in Hawaii it's all good. Besides, what's so bad about having terrorists in your home town? Sounds like a great opportunity for cultural exchanges of ideas. I love the smell of sequester in the morning.

Hard to believe that great actors like McDowell, Peter O'Toole and Helen Mirren were in that grotesque Guccione excuse of a movie.

Think of it as job creation. Since there are only about 155 million folks currently employed, the Government will have to hire an additional 15 million just so 170 million can lose their jobs.

I sincerely believe that Maxine would love nothing more than to have 170 MILLION Americans fully and completely dependent on the Imperial Federal Govt. ANY reduction in increase of spending ( there ARE not cuts here ) would be worse than 9/11, Katrina, Sandy, and a huge tsunami , all at once.

Her spokesperson walked back her comment to 170,000. Poor Maxine just got a little emotional and carried away, which is quite understandable when Obama behaves only as a perpetually campaigning fear-mongering liar, and a divisive demagogue.
