Been watching this a bit, it tickled me a pence, so I will share.

Roger Pion, Angry Over Criminal Charges, Crushes Squad Cars With Tractor http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/02/roger-pion-crushed-vermont-co
p-cars_n_1735673.html
Quote:

A man on a big farm tractor, angry about his recent arrest for resisting arrest and marijuana possession, was rolling across their vehicles – five marked cruisers, one unmarked car and a transport van.

By the time they ran outside, the tractor was down the driveway and out onto the road.

With their vehicles crushed, "We had nothing to pursue him with," said Chief Deputy Philip Brooks.

Yuh-huh, arrested for resisting arrest, side order of possession... Sounds like bullshit to me, and sounds a LOT like bullshit that's usually prelude to theft-by-forfeiture abuse. Ergo I can see why he wanted to cost them big, and maybe bring down attention on it before they pitch a bag of dope over the fence as a pretense and then steal his farm, yeah.

That and the image of a bunch of donut chompin lardass cops trying to chase a tractor on foot amuses the hell out of me.

GEEZER

Madame Geezer and I had a good chortle over this as well. Do appreciate that no one got hurt, unless a village cop got a blister running after the tractor.

It's funny. Till the near bankrupt city gets the bill for replacement cars. Or can't respond to a violent crime in progress. Then it's less funny.

Hero...must be right on all of this. ALL of the rest of us are wrong. Chrisisall, 2012

Oh bullshit - they're insured and you know it, it's one of the few expenses police departments have that I actually approve of, as for raising their premiums, well, maybe they shouldn't engage in what seems to be petty harrassment and a prelude to abuse of forfeiture laws to steal from people... Around here every time they do that, we CUT their budget, using the only accountability left against the Blue Suit Mafia and their cronies, and when they overtly harrass or threaten their so-called protectees while whinging and whining about those cuts... we cut it some MORE.

Not only has this done wonders for their professional behavior and actually IMPROVED their performance, not having access to all those shiny war-toys keeps them from all but waging war on the neighborhoods, thus resulting them falling back to traditional community-interaction policing which has reduced local crime rates and started to really turn around the neighborhood across the street cause instead of seeing each other as faceless militarized goons, and potentive perps, they've been forced by the situation to work together, putting names and faces to each other, humanizing the interaction, which has resulted in a cooperation which is how policing is SUPPOSED TO WORK in the first goddamn place. So no, I won't be shedding bitter tears over their insurance premiums going up, not one bit.

As for failure to respond, given the status and conduct of many police departments these days, and the fact that they often fail to respond even when fully staffed or even overstaffed, cause they're too busy trying to hustle shit that makes them money like ticketing shakedowns, bullshit checkpoints or forfeiture abuse, and when they DO respond it's often as not to the detriment of the situation - the question is, would you WANT them to ?

The Police: Useless, but not Harmless http://freedominourtime.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-police-useless-but-no
t-harmless.html

And before you bring up Aurora, lemme point out to you that in situations with an active shooter, yanno, where they might actually have to take a risk in the name of public safety, the usual police response is to "secure the area", thus kettling the victims for the convenience of the shooter, and then bunker down and HIDE till it's all over... As opposed to the hoo-rah, kick in the door, shoot the place up, no-knock raids they engage in when they KNOW the target is defenseless, showing them for the cowards and bullies they mostly are.

Best mugshot ever -- just a hint of proud smirk. Even the cops were laughing on the news report.

Muni corp sounds so small its not self-insured, so the insurance company pays (then bills every customer).

These brave crime fighters were so busy "fighting major crimes" in their air-conditioned HQ they didn't hear the tractor outside crushing their squad cars.

Now who is going to write granny a traffic ticket and steal her lunch money?
