Hello,

I noticed a change in airplane passenger attitudes after 9/11. Once it became clear that terrorists weren't hijacking planes anymore, but were instead crashing them into buildings, the passengers became very proactive about restraining suspicious persons.

The theater shooting seems to have had the same effect on moviegoers.

Wasn't there an attempted hijacking of an Egypt Air flight sometime after 9/11 that resulted with the would-be hijacker being severely beaten, or possibly even beaten to death, by the passengers?

Seems I remember something like that happening.

But yes, 9/11 took hijacking airplanes off the list of things terrorists can do. Anyone with any tactical or strategic thinking ability has moved on, which is why security theater and the TSA are so worthless.

Treatment for his apparent problems with alcohol and anger management, perhaps? The Affordable Care Act should cover that.

Hello,

This seems to have been said tongue in cheek, but I actually do hope he receives treatment for his issues.

Oh the irony - I have long and long pointed out that such is typically the Anarchist reaction to attempts to aggress on them, and prior to 2001 many folks told me how supposedly counterproductive that reaction is... Hearing a lot of silence about that now, don't ya know.

I still don't think there was much that COULD have been done about the Aurora shooting at the time, but instead of going all TSA security theatre bullshit, sometimes the simplest measures are the key to prevention, the lowly common security guard is a significant bulwark against stuff like this, when the mere act of checking to make sure doors are properly locked could have hindered or even prevented the situation from unfolding as it did. As I pointed out to the property manager on Monday, 99% of my job is usually much of nothing, but that 1% when stuff might, or even DOES, go all wrong, THAT, is what they pay me for - mind you I was trying to talk them OUT of paying us more cause it would totally screw our tax and insurance brackets and leave us with less....
