I see that, when I answered your 1st question, you then shifted the topic, w/ out commenting on the carbon credits / higher energy costs / tax subsidies for electric cars which either don't work as well as advertised, and or created a larger carbon footprint than gas powered cars which cost 1/2 as much.

Expected.

Climate change always will continue, as long as this planet has an atmo. But man doesn't drive or influence the global climate, so why on Earth would we be expected to pay to fix something which isn't broken, and can't be fixed by us, no matter what we do anyways ?

Again, I think you have a faulty definition of what "religion" is. Evolution is taught in public schools, too; is it a religion? What about math? Is that a religion? English literature? Biology?

kiki, you're going to have to converse w/ Kwickie, and others. They keep asking me these inane questions.

As to this question, I've already answered it. Why do you keep asking me the same question, over and over ? Or posing it w/ different, nonsensical qualifiers ?

You have my answer.

No. No. No. No. No.

Although, I'd not be surprised if they teach the state sponsored religion of man caused climate change in ALL of those classes.

Oh, and back to problems with Sharia and islamic governments,

Quote:

Malaysia cancels Erykah Badu show over 'Allah tattoos'

Malaysia has cancelled a concert by US singer Erykah Badu after a publicity photo showed her with the Arabic word for "Allah" tattooed on her upper body.

Officials say the photo of Ms Badu in The Star newspaper was "an insult to Islam". The paper has apologised.

The Grammy-award winner was due to perform on Wednesday in Kuala Lumpur and is said to be dismayed at the news.

Muslim-majority Malaysia has previously warned other international artists to dress modestly for their concerts.

Tattoos are forbidden in Islam and using the word "Allah" in a way deemed disrespectful offends many Muslims.

'Serious offence'

The photo of Ms Badu with several words in Arabic and Hebrew written on her body features prominently on her official fan site. It is not clear whether Ms Badu's body art is permanent.

The Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry says it was not aware of the tattoos when it initially approved the concert, the BBC's Jennifer Pak in Kuala Lumpur reports. Some Muslims began protesting after The Star published the photo.

Now the culture ministry says it is justified in banning Ms Badu's concert because it breaches religious sensitivities and cultural values.

Information Minister Rais Yatim said a government committee had decided to cancel the show because Ms Badu's body art was "an insult to Islam and a very serious offence".

Pakistan sectarian bus attack in Kohistan kills 18 Shia Muslims

Gunmen have killed at least 18 Shia Muslim bus passengers in a sectarian attack in the northern Pakistani district of Kohistan, officials say.

The attackers are reported to have checked the identity cards of all the passengers before removing the Shias and shooting them.

About 27 other passengers on the bus were spared.

The concept that your identity papers have to show your religious affiliation for ease of selection for slaughter says a lot about Pakistan's Islamic government.

RAPPY, let me help you out with your word choices. For AGW, the word you're looking for is not "religion" it's "belief", or possibly even "delusion"*

*A delusion is belief in a specific idea beyond all reason, evidence, and argumentation which leaves a person otherwise capable of functioning in real life. (more or less the DSM definition)

---------------------------

Now, I have my own definitions which I think serve me rather well, and I'm going to state them here so that we don't get tangled up in words:

Truth = whether or not your ideas correspond with reality. (There really is a reality out there, and it isn't subject to your opinions, no matter how strongly you might feel about them) In this case the opposite of "truth" is not only "lie" (deliberate falsification) but also "mistake", "unfounded belief", or "delusion"

Belief = an idea which is contradicted, or at least not supported, by objective evidence. I realize that many people use "belief" to express "conviction" or "confidence" (I believe the sun will come up tomorrow) but the nub of the difference between belief and confidence is that one is predictive, the other (I believe in the maker of heaven and earth) has no foundation in evidence whatsoever.

Religion = a belief system which encompasses both a moral code and supernatural elements (gods, demons etc). A moral code which does not encompass supernatural elements is "ethics".

-----------------

So, in your opinion, AGW is a belief- an idea unsupported by facts- possibly even a delusion.

On what evidence do you base that opinion?

Wait, you don't think that the AGW crowd, with all its 'save the planet' and ' go green' propaganda isn't exhibiting a sort of moral code ? Or that projecting anthropomorphic characteristics, like " hurting " or "breathing" on to the good mother Earth, isn't a bit super natural ?

Sig - I don't buy into the idea that there is evidence FOR AGW in the first place, so why should I have to present evidence to disprove that which doesn't exist ?

" Your data are cooked, but MINE are legit ! Your scientists are bought and paid for, but MINE are in it for pure science ! This guy is a zealot, but MY guy is respectable and a pillar in his field! Blah blah blah! "

Curiously enough, I've had exactly these sorts of internet 'debates' going back 15 years or more, with young earth creationists, end timers and the like. I've been to this dance before. So you weasel out again. Why am I not surprised? You'll do anything to get out of logically debating evidence, because both logic and facts are foreign territory for you. I keep waiting for the day that you will realize that strongly held opinion is not "truth", and that picking "a" fact out of a sea of contradictory facts is not being "factual".

Meanwhile...

Ocean Acidification: Geologic Record Adds New Warning
Quote:

A new study in Science finds that the oceans may be acidifying faster today from industrial emissions than they did during four major extinctions in the last 300 million years when carbon levels spiked naturally. The study is the first of its kind to survey the geologic record for evidence of ocean acidification over this vast time period.

Extreme Melting On Greenland Ice Sheet, Team Reports; Glacial Melt Cycle Could Become Self-Amplifying
Quote:

Combining data gathered on the ground with microwave satellite recordings and the output from a model of the ice sheet, he and graduate student Patrick Alexander found a near-record loss of snow and ice this year. The extensive melting continued even without last year's record highs.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/10/111025163128.htm

This, combined with our greater understanding of the role that carbon dioxide/ sulfur oxide release
(from extensive vulcanism) played in nearly all of the major extinction events would give any sane person pause.

The equivalents to the posted events have not happened within the past few hundred MILLION years. These events which are not "historical", they are "geological". I know that fear is uncomfortable and panic is unproductive, but we as a species should be engaging in SOME sort of response to our own self-created disaster.

So I'm going to repost this elsewhere w/ additional data bc I think it deserves its own thread.

'Cause you and I know, that would lead to questions... questions you couldn't possibly answer, and evidence you couldn't possibly refute. You'd have to resort to ignoring it. So, sooner or later, you'd have to post "I WIN! I WIN!" and then bail out of the thread, like you always do.

I really think AnthonyT hit the nail on the head when he observed that for little Rappy, facts and truthiness are divorced from each other. To little Rappy, his personal version of truthiness beats any large collection of facts any day.

I also think that since he adheres so strongly to his truthiness - which is divorced from facts - his truthiness qualities as a belief - which is by definition irrational. That is his main function here - to spew his truthiness no matter how many facts contradict it.

Well, plus the fact that he trolls constantly for attention by being provocative when he has nothing of substance to contribute.

Hard to not be emotional when it's a known fact that some of this 'data' has been misinterpreted, and even worse, fabricated. To the contrary, I see YOUR lack of emotion on this matter much akin to NAZIs, dutifully going about their business, in following orders, during WW2.

" But the Fuhrer SAID... ! HE can't be wrong! "

My view on this is that climate DOES change, always has, and always will, yet the MSM view of sheer ignorance is being promoted that it doesn't change, unless mankind is f-ing up the planet. The blatant, sensationalist and intentional lies and distortions being put out by certain groups and individuals, for the explicit purpose of driving public opinion, is nothing short of deplorable.
