Lost my post, dammit. Just wanted to say I've heard/seen/read several different versions from Brewer, and given the other crazy things she's said along the line, I don't give credence to much of anything she says. She seems to keep adding to her initial remarks, says she respects the President then goes on to rag on him in an unquestionably disrespectful way. It's old news to me anyway, it's only she who keeps it in the news and the news which gives her attention.

This was originally about Priebus' statement and they're all of a piece to me, a reflection of the current attitude on the right that "anything goes". I just find it disgusting, and to me there is NO comparison between what we or others gripe about on the internet or to one another and publicly disrespecting someone, especially the President. I'm amazed others see them as one and the same, but that's up to them. It's not something I would ever do, and not just to the Prez. I maintain that if we all said what we think of others in public or to their faces all the time, the world would be a far worse place than it already is. Just my opinion.

How about this?

Quote:

Tuesday's installment of the Left's crusade to destroy Mitt Romney began like this: an operator chirping, "I'd like to welcome you today to the Mitt Romney Would Destroy Social Security and Medicare Conference Call."

A few moments later, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, was on the line. "Thanks, everybody, for joining the call today," she began. Within minutes, she had accused Romney of "political pandering," supporting "the extreme tea party agenda," and lying to senior citizens, Hispanics, and supporters of the space program.

I have to ask, what do you find offensive? Im assuming its Wasserman-Schultz that you are attempting to paint as the same disrepect that Priebus offerred?

I don't see any personal attacks on Romney there, only attacks on policy and position.

So in your mind comparing someone to a world-reknowned coward and criminal is the same as attacking their policies? Show me one example of a person saying that Romeny or Gingrich are out of line, disrepectful, or offensive for attacking Obama's policies. As usual, u will duck and run instead of finding it, because it doesnt exist.

I think It was Sig who mentioned the false equivalence, and boy was she on the money.

Once again, your position is so ludicrous and stupid that I am forced to believe you are being intellectually dishonest. The other alternative is seeming more and more likely though.

Seriosuly??

Jesus. It's like you're actively trying to prove my point about false equivalence.

Yeah.... accussing someone of "political pandering" is just like...

Oh, nevermind. You are either incapable of understanding the distinction - or are deliberately being ignorant. Either way - a hopeless case.

So, Ill go ahead and just get off your lawn now. Too much stupid there anyway.

Yep. But that doesn't matter to the right-wing mindset. You say ANYTHING about them, and it's ON - no holds barred.

This has gotten totally ridiculous. Geezer keeps trying to come up with examples, none of which has yet risen to the level of what Priebus said. Dog with a bone much?? Give it UP, already--if not Geezer, the rest of us, since we can clearly see his obsessive need to make his point. I'm out, personally; this has become a real joke. If you want my "words", here they are: Yeah, politicians of every ilk make absurd statements, but the difference between attacking someone's policies and making an attack about the person themselves is not at all comparable. I have no doubt stupid statements like Priebus' can be found from the left, and I would decry those just as loudly. But thus far you haven't come up with any, and your efforts have failed pretty badly. Maybe it's time to just give up? Or if you can't let go of the bone, maybe it's time the rest of us stop responding?

It's so damned strange, that I used to respect you...

"Donald Trump is such a cartoon character, an endorsement no matter who he chooses is like Bugs Bunny making an endorsement."

Tuesday's installment of the Left's crusade to destroy Mitt Romney began like this: an operator chirping, "I'd like to welcome you today to the Mitt Romney Would Destroy Social Security and Medicare Conference Call...Within minutes, she had accused Romney of "political pandering," supporting "the extreme tea party agenda," and lying to senior citizens, Hispanics, and supporters of the space program."

Comparing Trump to a cartoon character or calling Romney a liar seems as bad to me as saying Pres. Obama is abandoning running the ship of government to campaign.

Of course that's just the first two comments I came across. Probably more out there.

I see a difference between attacking someone's policies and attacking someone's charactor. SOmetimes they run together a bit since if one makes policies that you don't agree with then their charactor might be subject to questioning, but there is a fine line. I also see that there is a difference between what you say at home with your family, out with your friends, on your own in a discussion board, and what you say when you're in public representing something/someone. These differences seem obvious to me. Apparently they aren't obvious to others. I'm not disputing that the line can get blurry sometimes, but I do think there's a line.

Well, I don't have $10,000 to throw around, but I'll offer you a whole $20 if you can come up with a video clip that supports your story.

In some parliaments, discussion gets a bit rowdy and punches are thrown. And since the head of the majority party is the Prime Minister, he or she is often in the scrum too.

I really have no problem with that. What I truly dislike are any rules (such as the fillibuster) which require a "supermajority" on ANYTHING. The other thing I truly dislike are "riders" on bills. Those are totally inappropriate readings of the democratic process.

The Senate (and the House) need to get their shit together, and craft clean bills for a straight up or down vote. If they can't do that, they need to be thrown out on their collective ears and then we can start over.

Pay up $10, then. I've already posted 2 links which shows Obama grabbing her elbow. Of course, the MSM won't dare show his finger wag, so I guess that never happened.

I saw the picture, but who started the confrontation? It's entirely possible that Obama grabbed her elbow to fend her off because she was wagging her finger in his face. So the only thing that'll do is a video clip from beginning to end. In this day and age of smart-phone videos, surely there must be one around somewhere proving your point. (If you get the reference to people allegedly shouting "nigger" at two black Congressmen, then you get bonus points- but alas, no additional money! ) At this point, is there any way to say for sure what happened, aside from your say-so? Also- where did you get "YOUR" version? From a media person or politician who never lies?

As you see, with my starting point of doubting pretty much everyone, but especially the media and politicians, about 98% of what I read goes into the "possibly true" bucket, to be correlated with other statements and other facts, and then to use logic to see which ones make the most sense. What that means is abut 95% of what I read goes into the trashbin, where it belongs.

"grabs her by the elbow"...no proof, just a shot of him possibly holding her elbow, or touching it, or doing something else with his arm. "Grabs" is totally made up.

"sternly lectures her"...not only no proof, but a projection...HER mouth is wide open, indicting raised tone of voice (I hadn't noticed that gaping may before!); HIS mouth is not only closed, there is the whisper of a smile on it.

"wags his finger"...reeely reaching. There is not a shred of evidence to support it. If anyone doesn't think the media would have ADORED a shot of that happening, they're out of their mind! Not to mention that there was NO indication of that having happened from anyone who was there. I know, it's a conspiracy by everyone who was in attendance to keep such a vital secret from the public. You betcha.

No winners here; not even a serious try.

I look at this picture and I see Gov. Brewer saying to Pres. Obama.

"Did you have a Reuben for lunch? I see a little schmutz of Russian dressing on your cheek right there."

And Obama smiles at the memory of one really good Reuben.

I guess I should also say that obviously someone can technically say whatever they want whenever they want, but they will take the consequences if their choice wasn't prudent.

I think what Wasserman-Schulz said is abhorrent, I don't like that kind of shit from anyone in public life. On the other hand, it's true, and even some Republicans are admittig that Romney got "trapped" into the Trump endorsement out of fear Trump would endorse Gingrich. I think the majority of thinking people consider Donald Trump a ridiculous figure, a charicature, and he has a TV SHOW about firing people, as well as Romney having SAID he likes firing people. None of what she said compared either Trump or Romney to someone who caused people's deaths, so the analogy doesn't hold.

Nor does your truly absurd analogy about killing a homeless person, that one's WAY out in left field. You can certainly abhor anyone here dissing anyone else, but given you do the same, it's kind of hypocritical. You're welcome to be a hypocrite, I have no problem with that, but you so long since lost this argument that I've got to wonder why you keep reaching for crazy things to back up your claims.

Sorry the media didn't comply w/ offering up any more evidence than I've already shown.

But you can see ( for those using their eyes, and not their partisan glasses ) that Obama is holding onto her elbow and leaning forward , into her space, in a dominant stance.

Where I got this 'version' is from an interview by the Gov herself. She reiterated the full exchange, how she welcomed him to AZ, offered him the letter, to which he rudely responded that took issue w/ comments made in her book.
