I do find that one amusing...it's like demanding a "home crowd advantage", which is no surprise. Won't watch any of the debates; the crowd reaction sickens me too much. His encouragement of mob mentality makes me cringe in that it brings out the very worst of that mob mentality and makes any chance of adult communication impossible. Not that much would be possible anyway, given those who attend are drooling at the chance to act like idiots.

Gingrich's showmanship is, if anything, transparent and slightly amusing: "media is terrified that the audience is going to side with the candidates against the media, which is what they've done in every debate," he said. He's almost funny, the way he manipulates things.
Quote:

Without a roaring crowd to encourage him, Gingrich took a heavy pounding from Romney on Monday and spent long stretches of the debate on the defensive over his record in Congress and his work for mortgage giant Freddie Mac.
Hee, hee, hee, poo' little Newt; without his "backup singers" he can't play Big Man; the man is a consumate actor, if nothing else.
Quote:

"We're going to serve notice on future debates," Gingrich told Fox News. "We're just not going to allow that to happen. That's wrong. The media doesn't control free speech. People ought to be allowed to applaud if they want to."
Which of course has NOTHING to do with it in reality; "the play's the thing".
Quote:

The debate crowds in South Carolina had been urged to participate, with Fox News moderator Bret Baier waving his arms to the crowd to whip up cheering before one debate.
Trust FauxNews to stoke the anger; they're as predictable as Newt.

Makes me giggle. Will America get sick of Gingrich's hystrionics? Certainly those who attend never will, and Newt can go on playing his game with them as allies, if he gets his way.

While this reminds me of Happy Gilmore style galleries at a PGA event, how can anyone blame Newt for accentuating the positive ?

It's common practice for moderators to remind the audience not to respond , positively or negatively, to what's said by the candidates. Usually those 'reminders' are given prior to going live, on air. It's pretty clear that there's a pissing match going on here, between Newt and the media.

It should make things more interesting, at least.

See Niki, this is where you and I diverge in how our brains work.

I clearly meant that Newt was playing upon HIS strengths, to make him look better, which is something ANY candidate does, in one way or another.

You seemingly mistook my remark as saying that Newt was BEING positive, or something. I really fail to see how this has you in least bit animated. Maybe being 3 hours behind in your day has something to do w/ it ?

Umm, does Newt have a positive attribute?

What is it again?

He is speaking right now not 500 yards from where I sit, and the giant head on his bus is exactly the same size as the giant head on his torso.

Ahh, your wording is what tripped me up. "Accentuating the positive" can hardly be used to describe what Newt's doing or will be doing. "Playing to his strengths" is a clear statement, and I agree. But given there is NOTHING 'positive' about Newt, what he does or what he says. So it didn't make sense, and was laughable for anyone to think there was. Okay, I take the prize back.

You have my deepest sympathy for being so close to that huge manifestation; I hope you can't hear the swill coming out of his mouth from where you are. Wouldn't wish that on anyone...at least at home, one can change the channel.

It's not a POSITIVE attribute, but how about an EFFECTIVE attribute: Masterful Manipulator. I'll freely give him that.

Balancing the budget is pretty damn positive.

Far better than anything Obama has done, that's for sure.

Thats something he did, not an attribute he has.

An attribute would be "he is a clear communicator" or "He has experince running congress"

Of course, he doesnt have either of those attributes, as history has proven.

So i ask again, because I am genuinely curious....Is there a positive attribute to Newt Gingrich? I certainly cant see any....

Thanks Niki, actually it was a pain in the ass to get back into my building after lunch, other than that, no real hassles.

The wing place he is at is one of my favorite local restaurants, I hope he doesnt go leaving any taint behind, they had Santorum there on Sunday, so there hasnt really been an opportunity to wipe off the sleeze before Newt arrived to add his share.

The owner of the place is really a nice guy, he is a major repub contributer, but hey he's a business owner, I cant really fault him for supporting the party that looks out for his interests first, last, and only.

Edit: My dad said we should go to see him, and bring glitter LOLZ.

Funny. I'm a Newt supporter but I found your comment funny. Its like making fun of someone's perfect hair or big ears or how a woman dresses.

Its important in today's world of huge problems to take the time out to make fun of someone because of how they look. Its what makes America a special place...that no matter who we are we can always make ourselves feel better by laughing at the physical imperfects of another.

I don't see it being as as bad as, say, the Occupy 'call and response' tactic used to interfere with speech they don't approve of. As misguided as Gingrich's supporters may be, they at least seem to let the other candidates express their views, rather than shutting them down.

Now, there are plenty of brushes you can tar the Dems in congress with, that they have fully earned.

Spineless? For sure.

Weak? You betcha!

Ineffective? Without a doubt.

But are they really a greedy group? Outside of some sweetheart mortgages for dodd and a few others, which plenty on both sides have benefitted from, Im not really coming up with a financial issue involving democrats....could u educate me?

Dick Cheney did not found Haliburton. It's not " HIS " company. He had no role in what went on with in Haliburton while he was VP.

If you have any evidence which shows the contrary, by all means, post it. Until then, kindly STFU, and crawl away.

Zero attempt to defend your BS dems in congress are greedy position then? That figures, since it was farcical to begin with.

Im sure Cheney had NOTHING to do with the company he ran before becoming VP getting all of those sweetheart contracts from the military which they so gleefully swindled.

I noticed u never did come up with a positive attribute for Newty either...IM SHOCKED

I'm sure Cheney didn't have anything to do w/ the company either. He left that position, long before running, and put his investments into a blind trust.

And I did give ONE positive for Newt. He's not Obama.

Long enough for it not to be an issue for his candidacy.

And any revisionist history going on here is clearly by you, for making unfounded claims of Cheney's involvement, and personal knowledge of how his stocks were doing, while in office.

Haliburton ? They've had no bid contracts w/ the govt LONG before Cheney was VP. But facts won't bother you much, I'm guessin.

Right, long before Cheney was VP, while he was running Haliburton. After he was Sec of Def. No connections to no bid military contracts there.

And thank you for proving you actually have no idea how long it was.

It was less than 6 months from CEO to sworn in as VP.

Theres this thing called google, and it allows people to check up on your claims, and show them to be false.

http://www.halliburtonwatch.org/about_hal/chronology.html

Edit: I read a little more of that piece, it seems Cheney actually GAVE Hailburton its first contracts, as SecDef, THEN left the department of defense to join Haliburton.

Zero conflicts of interest there.

It's to laugh. But I should warn you, if you don't already know, that attempting to communicate with Rap or his cohorts is an exercise in futility. Blind, deaf, dumb and incapable of dealing with facts. Go right ahead if you enjoy it, you're doing a great job, but have no expectations. The timeline shows it all perfectly, but that will have absolutely NO effect.

I love how, when anything negative is done by the right, Rap wracks his brain to come up with something the left did that he can "compare" it to...of course, as having been "wronger". OWS aren't candidates for office and the two are completely unrelated, but not in Rap's brain. Let's see; so the bloodthirsty mob at the debates is less worse than the mike checks? That doesn't make it good, just "less bad". Hookay, gotcha.

I would say "blind partisan jihad is sad", except I don't believe that's what it is. It's his game, and if Obama had done absolutely everything right, Rap would choke on it before admitting it. We all know that.

Pretty much, yeah. Because the blind zealots on the Left want to BLAME Cheney for everything.

There's no story here, what so ever, and yet still to the day, the Left continues to beat this dead horse.

Talk about the birthers never letting go of a chewed up piece of raw hide.... they're pale in comparison to those who want to attack Cheney.
