Did anybody see the video of the "assembly" chanting in unison and parroting the words of the people addressing them during the Occupy Atlanta rally?

The chanting is scary, but its funny to watch the reaction of the Democratic Congressman who was hoping to address them in support, but got turned away. Watch the video and then do the jazz hands thing if you agree they are all nuts:

www.y**tube.com/watch?v=3QZlp3eGMNI

Also, I'd love to get them all to say:

Speaker: "We are all..."
Crowd: "We are all..."
Speaker: "F**king morons."
Crowd: "F**king morons."

or

Speaker: "We love..."
Crowd: "We love..."
Speaker: "George Bush"
Crowd: "George Bush"

or

Speaker: "Try Wendy's new..."
Crowd: "Try Wendy's new..."
Speaker: "Big and Tasty Cheesburger."
Crowd: "Big and Tasty Cheeseburger."

or

Speaker: "Lets all..."
Crowd: "Lets all..."
Speaker: "jump off a bridge."
Crowd: "jump off a bridge."

After watching that video I begin to see the root of our economic problems. Jazz hands if you agree!

IF THE OCCUPY WALL STREET DECIDED TO GO OPEN CARRY WHEREVER LEGALLY POSSIBLE.

OMG, the right wing would be doing mental loop-de-loops trying to express how HORRIBLE and UNAMERICAN that would be, while justifying it for the Teabaggers.

Oh, no wait... the right whingers wouldn't be doing anything mental at all, because that circuit is dead. The irony would be completely lost on them.

Pretty easy, for anyone who can even comprehend grade school civics.

The TEA party's gripe is with the politicians, and their excessive budgets, reckless spending, unwillingness to listen to the people. Taxed Enough Already means exactly that. The problem with govt isn't that we aren't taxed enough, it's that govt is too big, is spending too much of our money, and we want it stopped. Period. We want order restored along the border, and a return to the principles of the US Constitution.

The Wall Street crowd ? Even they don't know what they're there for. One group is going to set up a conference, where reasons for BEING there in the first place will be worked out. One of the 'demands' ? Wipe out all debt, for everyone, everywhere, around the world. Freakin' beyond childish and naive.

This is nothing more than a collection of angry, bitter kids, organized by some hippie relics from the 60's, pissed off that Obama's Hopey-Changey vision of love, peace and harmony has basically fallen flat on its face.

So the Teabagger's gripe is with politicians, about economics.

And the Wall Street crowd's gripe is with banks, about economics.

Sorry, but other than the fact that they have different goals- and that the Teabaggers are funded by millionaires and Chambers of Commerce... I see no bright line between them. Occupy Wall Street seems as authentically grass-roots as the Teabaggers, if not more so. And it's being joined by a lot more than unemployed "kids"... including working people and retirees.

So, other than a difference is goals, what's the difference?

Many of the wall street babies are whining about the banks being bailed out, but not the average citizens. Thing is, the banks paid BACK their loans, with interest, which netted the fed govt a tidy profit. So what's the damn problem ? When told the facts, I bet many would turn and just go home.

The TEA party is far more authentic and grass roots, and reflects REAL America. The fringe nuts of the Wall St. Babies ? Organized socialist groups and now big unions in on the gig, as well as the hard core socialists in the Dem party. Hell, I bet there are more Dems supporting the Wall St. Babies than there are supporting Obama's Tax Bill ( which he jokingly calls a jobs bill )

TARP is only about halfway to being repaid.

But at a mere $0.7 trillion, TARP is the least of the taxpayer funded Christmas gifts to the rich and powerful. And it's not just banks. It's financial firms, investment firms, investment insurance firms, and a wide variety of private companies, being bailed out with OUR tax money. Beyond TARP, here is the rest of the bailout tab.

The Government as Investor
$9.0 trillion
The Government as Insurer
$1.7 trillion
The Government as Lender
$1.4 trillion

The fact that the banks paid back their loans doesn't take away from the fact that people... average ordinary everyday people... DIDN'T get a near-trillion dollars in bailout money.

I think the REAL issue, though, is that average, ordinary, everyday Americans are still struggling to find jobs even as business profits go sky-high. People can tell when they're getting screwed; it's not about TARP.

Yanno, what Raptor is writing in this thread should be the end-all, be-all of explanation if anyone ever wanted to take him seriously again. The idea that one group of people speaking out is good and another bunch of people speaking out is bad and there is no comparison is incredibly pathetic and HOLLERS so loudly at his hypocrisy that anyone should be able to see through his idiocy and realize HE'S ONLY HERE TO GET ATTENTION.

It's been shown over and over again that the Tea Party is made up of Republicans, there are VERY few minorities represnted, and a larger proportion of them are religious than are not. They are a small proportion of Americans--the fact that they make more noise than others notwithstanding--and a small proportion of the voting public.
Quote:

There is significant overlap between Americans who identify as supporters of the Tea Party movement and those who identify as conservative Republicans. Their similar ideological makeup and views suggest that the Tea Party movement is more a rebranding of core Republicanism than a new or distinct entity on the American political scene.

{Table of "Partisan and Ideological makeup of Tea Party Supporters}

Conservative Republicans outnumber moderate/liberal Republicans in the general population by about a 2-to-1 margin; among Tea Party supporters, the ratio is well more than 3 to 1. More generally, almost 8 out of 10 Tea Party supporters are Republicans, compared with 44% of all national adults. http://www.gallup.com/poll/141098/tea-party-supporters-overlap-republi
can-base.aspx
are numerous studies which have found the same thing.

We don't know for sure what the OWS (Occupy Wall Street) crowds are made up of, but glancing at any video of them shows people of all colors, ages and makeup. New York magazine did an unofficial poll of 100 of them, with this result

Male: 66%
Female: 30%

Under 20: 10
20-29: 50
30-39: 15
40-49: 9
Over 50: 2

Capitalism isn't fundamentally evil; it just needs to be regulated: 46%. http://www.revleft.com/vb/make-up-opinions-t162070/index.html% of Republicans agree with Occupy Wall Street.

A Rasmussen Poll found that the Occupy Wall Street crowd and the Tea Party agree on one thing: The big banks got bailed out but the middle class got left behind. http://blogs.dailymail.com/donsurber/archives/43730 the Tea Party AGREES by a huge margin with the main point behind the Occupy Wall Street protests...ergo, he is trashing the very people he's been defending all along.

It's so damned obvious that if he THINKS the left has anything to do with it, it's GOT to be bad, and if he thinks the right has anything to do with it, it's GOT to be good.

Why do people bother? He doesn't even KNOW what the things/people he's trashing are about, much less understand them, he just does it by reflex, so what is the point in even trying to communicate with him?

It's absolutely true:

I have no doubt there will be factions who will try to make hay on the OWS demonstrations, there always are. The Tea Party, however, not only BEGAN with financial backing by right-wing interests, but grew because of their funding and continues to argue in their favor. I believe at this point at least, the OWS IS grass roots--lord knows they're disorganized enough! We'll see what the future brings, but his conviction that something which has been proven over and over to be backed by monied interests is "real", and something which nobody has proven has backing by any monied interests and which has so may different interests represented is "astroturf" pretty much says it all.

I don't see how they're comparable, either. After all, one of the groups is loudly protesting because a new President was elected in free and fair elections, and they hate that President and enjoy comparing him to Hitler and portraying him as an African witch doctor.

The other group is actually protesting the people who ripped off and broke the system.

First of all many conservatives are opposed to Wall Street and corporate bailouts. 'Too big to fail' was a moderate idea, many conservatives took a 'let them fail' track because conservative economics suggests that such creative destruction would result in a natural correction and economic resurgence. Also most conservatives are staunch advocates for civil rights, they simple do not define them as broadly as many liberals do. For example, I think we can all agree that people have a right to assemble and peacefully protest, but liberals say conservatives have no right to stand outside abortion clinics or speak on talk radio and conservatives say liberals have no right to disrupt businesses and traffic or marry their pets. While the specifics of civil rights are a reasonable subject of debate, the protection of civil rights is pretty much agreed on by both sides.

You miss the third possibility. They are assumed to be "crazy liberals" because they are liberals and all liberals are crazy. Not saying I agree, just pointing out the possiblity.

While I note for the record that all liberals may not be crazy, these folks, regardless of ideology, are crazy. Jazz hands!

Well, that takes you right out of the arena of intelligent debate right there. You don't even know who these people ARE, I've seen nothing claiming Wall Street is made up of Hitlers or Muslims or Kenyans or any such "crazy" things.
Quote:

I think we can all agree that people have a right to assemble and peacefully protest, but liberals say conservatives have no right to stand outside abortion clinics or speak on talk radio
That takes you outside, too...name one "liberal" or anyone else who says that? The complaint is against anti-abortion groups who harrass and threaten outside abortion clinics...I haven't heard a single report of any of the Wall Street demonstrators threatening, or bombing a Wall Street business or killing anyone. And where did you get the insane idea that ANYONE said anyone didn't have the right to speak on talk shows??? That's so outside the bounds of reality it's amazing. There have been protests against the violent rhetoric on talk radio, among other places, but that is asking for the right to assembl/protest/etc. be done CIVILLY--and nobody's tried to shut them down, only speak up in abhorrence of the violent/racial/threatening language.

Those statements are far crazier than whatever you think of the Wall Street protesters!

Given the two most commonly-used idioms are "all liberals are crazy" and "all conservatives are stupid", I think I'd rather be crazy, thank you. But you have absolutely NO proof that they're crazy, only that YOU think they are. In essence, you're saying people who are angry about the abuses by Wall Street, the bailout of the banks, etc. are crazy. I think that includes a LOT of people not demonstrating on Wall Street, even quite a few Tea Partiers.

I provided video evidence, also known as proof, that those folks are crazy. Their ideology I determined because I listened to what they were saying.

I noted all liberal are not crazy, but anybody, any adult that is, playing repeat after me for every line that is said by the speaker and using jazz hands to express approval (or disapproval since they seemed to confuse the two at various points)...them's some crazy-ass liberals.

Here's a summery what happened on the video. Liberal Congressman shows up to speak in support of this protest. He's a long time respected leader with a history of speaking at such gatherings not only in support of their right to protest, but who also agrees with them on many issues. Everybody is allowed to speak but he is turned away because "he's no better then us". Jazz hands by all.

I note for the record that the black man who happened to be a Congressman was denied the right to speak by a bunch of white liberals. Perhaps these are crazy racist liberals...or it could be because he was bald.

Caring about civil rights? Where's THAT delusional thought come from ?

They sure as hell didn't care about Cong Rep. John Lewis , or what he had to say. The man took a brick to the head while marching for civil rights, and these nut cases turned him away.

The Occupiers care little for civil rights, civility or the law. How many have been arrested, been disruptive, destroyed public and private property , and been anything but a smelly, filthy pain in the ass , where ever they've shown up?

The TEA party crowd, were respectful, clean, and few if any ever caused unrest or got arrested.

The difference between the 2 movements, is a clear as night and day.

Niki, the loons in Woodruff park are f-ing crazy. That you can't see that, only goes to show how far YOUR delusion runs, and to what lengths you'll sidle up w/ them, simply because you agree with their cause.

And the TEA party folks weren't angry at who got elected, but the policies they were trying to push. They voted their conscious in 2010, to send a message, and helped take back the House. The TEA party folks will likely vote Obama out in 2012, or return the Senate to the GOP, at the very least. This has nothing to do w/ who Obama is ( unless you're talking about his communist, ideological upbringing ) but the policies he's promoting. We don't want to follow the path of Greece, and are trying to do the right thing, before things get that bad.

Here in ATL, the Woodruff park occupiers have until tonight, when the park closes, to vacate the area. They have no permit to stay there, and the mayor's office is growing tired of their act.

Ri-iiiight.

This is beyond ridiculous, as it's been debunked, long, long ago.

This is why rational, reasonable discussion w/ the Left is so damn near impossible.

Congressmen were screamed at and profanities were hurled. That has never been debunked, as it's very clear from the footage. In some cases the confrontations were quite close, so accidental spittle splattering is reasonably likely to have occurred.

And yet, from all the video/audio coverage, no 'obscenities' were recorded, and NONE of the claims that anyone was called 'nigger' have ever been confirmed.

$100,000 for any video evidence, and still nothing.

Were folks mad? Hell yes, and they had every right to be mad. O-care is a disaster, worse than we feared, and absolutely nothing like we were told it would be. Had everyone known the truth, maybe the TEA party folks might have even acted as badly as the Occupiers are acting.

Not likely, but who knows?

... fully loaded, safety off...

I believe it's possible for both sides to be crazy. And that initial video from Hero is sadly funny - if anyone can't see the oddness in it I think they're holding onto their beliefs a little too tightly (or their hate for the opposition).
And fine, the Congressman is like everyone, but he's there NOW, ostensibly to listen. What was the point of having him there in the first place if you're going to now snub and embarrass him? 1 point made, 10 points lost.

NIKI2

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Oh, I definitely see the silliness of it, especially with the bullhorn there. But I don't see it as "crazy", at least no more crazy than wearing a hat with a bunch of tea bags hanging off it!
