I just noticed that I've been a member of FFF since March 1, 2003, and I'm still visiting every day. I was just curious how long we have all been here, sharing the pride and joys of Firefly and the wacky current event discussions that come with it.

Wow, 2003. I'm impressed as hell! I've only been here a little over a year, but I'm an addict, self-admitted. Sometimes I spent way too long here, and it's the first thing I do every morning after feeding the zoo, brushing my teeth and checking my e-mail. Bad addiction, but sometimes fun.

I checked once and the vast majority of users came in the time I did or later. There are a fair number from 2004 and only a couple from 2003. I figured they all knew Haken personally.

Most of the 2005 people came in a rush around the time Serenity came out. I think I arrived just before the movie came out, having only found Firefly in August of '05.

ETA: Says I joined September 27, 2005. I thought I'd joined before the movie came out, but I must've just been a lurker.

Stumbled in via a promo link someone posted under an unfinished (from the dailies) clip out of The Train Job.. specifically the bit where Zoe winds up pistol-whippin that goon, hehehe.

Although I had come lookin cause I did in fact catch one of the so rare as to be near fictional promo spots on someone elses TV and it caught my eye pretty hard, being something DIFFERENT than the distant, sanitized world of technobabble that was "sci-fi" at the time.

Been kickin around (and arguing off and on with Siggy

) ever since.

I stumbled in here from the imdb forum on firefly. I wanted to go somewhere where I didn't have to deal with defending firefly against its detractors. Google brought me here.

Getting Firefly in the mail was random. Amazon sent it to me by accident. I don't have a TV of course, so it wasn't going to happen, but it just arrived in the mail. It was not a gift, it was just random. OTOH, I've given them many thousands of dollars over the years

Siggy, you must have joined during the airing of Firefly. I joined shortly after I realized Firefly was really really cancelled. I came to see what I could do to get it back. I had never joined a campaign for any TV show before, but by golly, I was going to do it now.

I remember tearing up every Friday night, almost the first half of 2003, so long was my grief.

Well, for me I came here to find out why Firefly was no longer being aired and pre-empted with football and Adam Sandler movies (still can't get over that) only to find out it had been cancelled (what?) and there was a massive campaign to get it back on (joined in all of that and my own personal campaign of pamphlets, sharing dvd's, and getting the word out........*sigh*)

I lurked on here as Fireflyfan, but didn't officially sign on till January 24, 2006. (I'd actually signed on under a different name the first time I came but lost the password and didn't bother, just lurked)

Promo's and commercials? Oh, there were a few, enough to put me off (those who say Fux didn't do a good job promoting Firefly were right.) The promo's made it look campy, cheesy, and focused on the western theme. The only reason I tuned in was because of the show after it, Firefly lead into the real show I wanted to watch. But once Mal pushed Crow into the engine (after I mumbled, just kill the motherfu.....holy... did he just? He really did just.... nobody actually does the sensible thing, but Mal just pushed him into that engine.) My God what a wonderfully amazing show!

So....... um, long winding observations aside, been lurking since it was cancelled, only officially signed on in 2006..... I'm such a windbag.
