I agree; and I'd LOVE to know what the Republicans plan to DO to solve our problems, not constant harping on what Dems did wrong (with which they helped by forcing filibuster-proof majorities, and weakened by pretending they might support measures if they were weakened and/or their own demands were included...which by the way they often WERE). Have they got anything viable except the cry of "cut taxes, reduce spending, deregulate"? So far, it doesn't sound like it.

Eight weeks to Election Day, and still no sign of an updated "Contract with America," the famous Republican campaign manifesto of 1994.

Party strategists may have decided they don't need a manifesto: they are winning without one. They may also find it too difficult to agree on the manifesto's content: how do you appeal to Tea Party radicals and swing voters at the same time?

Post-election, though, Republicans will be sorry. The Contract with America helped to discipline the new Republican majority of 1994. If Republican majorities arrive in Washington in 2011 without a program, the risk is very real they will fall into trouble: pick the wrong fights with the administration, fail to deliver results, share the blame if employment continues to lag.

Will they?

They seem pretty content tag-teaming with the Dems every few years. The Dems likewise. As long as we keeping playing along, why should they bother to do anything different?

I agree, to an extent. But the favoring of the rich by the Bush Administration, if continued, to me would spell doom to more than just the middle and lower class. Deregulation makes it easier for corporations to focus on profits, to the detriment of their workers and, in cases like Deepwater, to the detriment of the whole country. "Spending less" isn't something they've DONE, only talked about, in the past.

The Republican "agenda", from what I've seen, seems to be mostly
for themselves and their rich buddies and corporations, not the rest of us...which is not to say Dems are far behind on that!

A plan, shit, ask for a miracle why don'tcha, I'd be happy with a fuckin clue, to START with.

Again, the idea of taking matters away from someone exploiting a disaster and handing them back to the asshats who caused it in the first damn place is not a solution, it's not even a betterment of the situation, especially when they have a rep for roadblocking any attempt to improve matters at hand.

If they're so dead set against fixing any goddamn thing, why the hell would we want such petulant little shitheels in charge anyways ?

When the Republicans take back the house I'm going to LAUGH AT YOUR PAIN!! Then I'm going to DRINK YOUR TEARS!! Then latter I'm going to piss on Ted Kennedys grave.

The Demorats need a plan, they should read "Final Exit".

So if the Republicans win in November, will they step up and take full responsibility for everything that happens after? Seems only fair, since they're so quick to blame the Dems for everything that happened from 2006 to present...

If everything that happens after is good then YES they will, and Barry will try to take most of the credit.

Then Barry will grab a gun, go to the headquarters of the "Discovery Channel" and take hostages, he'll release them after they give him all the credit.

The Republicans should do exactly the same thing the Dems should have done, as little as possible. The Feds have almost no control over the economic cycle and should just let it run it's course. Unfortunately Obama has made things worse with massive spending that will drag on the economy for years to come. If Obama had done nothing but extend unemployment benefits we would be in a strong recovery right now.

The republicans don't need a plan. The plan has been there all along..The constitution. Go back and follow it a bit closer than what government has done the last 100 years...They'd win every election for the next thousand years....

Right on. That's how I feel...they don't want to do anything, they can stay home and let the adults try to legislate!
