Okay, so I can’t resist. The woman is a phenomenon to me, in that people can’t see through her and she’s free to do/say whatever idiocy she pleases...at their expense!
Quote:

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spent more than $400,000 from her political action committee during the first three months of 2010, using the money donated by supporters to pay her team of advisers and cover the costs of stays in luxury hotels, flights, and even to de-ice a private jet that was shuttling her to a campaign rally.

The payments from her "leadership" PAC, called SarahPAC, are detailed in a newly released filing with the Federal Election Commission, and they lend additional insights into how the former GOP vice presidential nominee is paying for her whirl of post-governorship activities.

Much of the SarahPAC money contributed by her donors is being spent on legal and political advice. She has several consultants who help with media inquiries, and pays a former foreign policy adviser to Sen. John McCain to keep her fresh on global issues. A good portion is also going to the high-end hotels and first class travel that has become a staple of her life in the months since she left office.

Already, ABC News has estimated that Palin has earned more than $12 million through book and television deals and a packed schedule of paid speaking engagements, where she commands five and six figure fees for giving talking to corporate executives and advocacy groups.

The expenses related to those speeches are apparently billed directly to her hosts, according to documents that some California State University students said they unearthed in a dumpster on campus. And those expenses are not insubstantial – Palin flies business or first class, or by private jet, and she asks to be booked in high-end hotels.

For political appearances, the rules are no different, only the costs are often picked up by SarahPAC, which raises money mostly in small increments through individual contributions. The filing shows she stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Phoenix, Hotel Monaco in Salt Lake City, the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, and the Peninsula Hotel in New York City (where the tab came to more than $3,400).

So?

Look at Al Gore's contract for speaking. First class airfare, first class hotel, all expenses paid, non-disclosure of contract terms, no press, and $100,000.00 for a 75 minute talk (and this was in 2007. What with inflation...).

Really pretty standard for an in-demand speaker at the national level. follow the link in this cite to contracts for Giuliani, Cheney, and Kerry.

She is probably not getting any more then most people who do these speaker tours. If people are willing to pay for her, then more power to her.

I just wonder what they think she has to contribute? Her bridge to nowhere. Her leaving office in midterm. Sharing how to write notes on her hands techniques. She is just full of hockey mom homeilies. I guess she will discuss "All of them".

If she actually had some wisdom to share I could understand how she gets these engagements. But she has no substance. Saying "rogue" only goes so far.

Because she is their dancing monkey, a prancing pony, like Ann Clueless, a quisling collaborator to an agenda so wholly misogynistic that any female willing to play ball with it will be shoved forward and asked to dance on command over and over again as an example of the very worst kind of tokenism.

C'mon Geez, Sarah's a chick. Chicks deserve to travel all back of the bus, and such. Men deserve the top of the line travel, regardless if they're on the public dole, or private citizens.

It's funny, to see the Left try to demonize Sarah for what their boys have been doing for ages. The (unbiased) Press did the same, back when Reagan left office ( you know, when he was a PRIVATE citizen ) and accepted $$ for speaking. Hell, what he was paid wouldn't even cover AlGore's fuel bill for a month!

So, what the Left is REALLY saying to women when they attack her for trying to play on a level playing field w/ men is...

Sit down
Shut up
You're JUST a woman. Go fix me a sandwich and then go do the laundry.

You've come a long way, baby!

Ahh yes. Vilify anyone for doing what the Left claims CAN'T be done, unless you're a radical feminazi. Were this Hillary, you hypocrites would be stamping your feet & pulling your hair at any mere suggestion that was out of line. Hell,it'd have never even been reported in the first place!

That's actually amazingly close to how you really feel about it, according to your claims about Nancy Pelosi's travel arrangements.

Who pays for Sarah ? Those who support her and her cause.

Who pays for Nancy? Everyone, no matter what you think of her or her politics.

The longer I'm here, the more pathetic those purportedly representing the "right" show themselves to be. It's really sad; once again I wistfully dream of having some REAL, thinking Conservatives here to talk to.

The "dancing monkey" thing is very apropos. Palin has nothing to contribute but to smirk and wink and push an agenda, it's that simple. She's a "personality"--the kind Hollywood pays so much attention to because they're good fodder, but who have no talent.

Listen to her sometime, which I'll bet you don't even do. Or if you ever have, then you're s simple-minded as those who buy her screeching hook, line and sinker without once considering the actual words. She's a dancing monkey for you, too, which is fascinating; she "represents" something just by her appearance, but what she has to say is nothing but stupid talking points, vilivying the media, the Dems, Obama without any real substance, and playing up to the TPers and right with equally inane, senseless talking points.

A real person, I wouldn't grudge them their perks. But this woman isn't real, she's a symbol and nothing more. She accomplished little of value in any of her public offices, and quit as Governor to make money off her fame. That's not someone I wish to hear speaking, nor should any THINKING TPer or Conservative. Can't stop weak-minded people from creating heroes of no substance, so all we can do is ridicule them, they're not worth actually attacking.

Believe me, I don't think much of Pelosi or Hilary either, if you want an example of a female politician who doesn't have serious issues over the conflict between those two things (and there *is* conflict, but that's another topic) then look at Jennifer Granholm, she's a heck of a lady and I have tremendous respect for her.

Also worth a mention despite a certain amount of attitude and wackiness is Cynthia McKinney, she might be a little off, but she *does* give a shit, and that's worth a lot - of course, just like everyone else who actually stood up to the Bush Administration (like Monica Conyers) she got the railroad treatment for it, and I don't see Obama steppin in to do fuck-all about it, do you ?

Of course, if I was gonna front a female who was a minority for public office it wouldn't be McKinney, it'd be Whoopi Goldberg, but she'd prolly get run outta town on a rail cause she ain't real diplomatic about callin folk out on their bullshit, no matter WHO they are.

Littlebird: she was tryin to cut through the hysteria and point out that he wasn't charged with, nor pleaded guilty to, the crime that he was being at-that-moment accused of, in essence, trying to assert the rule of law (however distasteful) to a would be lynch mob attitude - Polanski is a scumbag, and I'm sure she'd be quick to agree with that...

BUT, we have the rule of law for a reason, you can't just go throwin folk in slam without a trial (or with one rigged by public opinion and political pressure), or stringin em up from a tree, or else what's the point ?

And yes, there *was* a civil suit, and a settlement - the problem with the article in question is that it distorts the facts, carries an extremely loaded viewpoint with a political agenda behind it.

So she was tryin to point out the difference between the rule of law and a lynching, and those who wanted to do some lynching spun it into a slam against her personally.

I got a LOT of experience with that kinda shit, I mean, you weren't here for it, but it was mostly me standing up for that fuckhead Fred Phelps right to free speech, despite how tremendously offensive he was about it.

Standing up for rights, or the rule of law, requires doing so even for your enemies, even for the most despicable people on the planet, cause rights are universal or they are pointless, anything less is just one group exploiting them against another that is deprived of them, and that is the very defintion of tyranny.

Doesn't make Polanski, or Phelps, or any of em, any less scumbags, nor does it mean those who will stand up for their rights have any sympathy for them - all it means is that those people really do care about human rights as something other than a political weapon.

And it always shows very, very clearly, how those folk who wanna DO the lynching feel about human rights, they want theirs, and fuck yours.

So in *that* perspective, go back and look at it again, pick out the loaded language, and watch the full discussion instead of a few clips buried in a propaganda articles context, and consider that if we do not offer a fair trial, the rule of law, and human rights even to slime like Polanski, or if they can be revoked by naught more than public opinion (often in light of media manipulation and not having the facts) then what good are those things at all...

And THEN ponder what she was tryin to say to those people.

Mind you, I disagree with her opinions here and there, and even on this matter, but asserting the rule of law, human rights, to a would-be lynch mob isn't something that's ever gonna offend me.

Bah, you're just pissed cause they were part of an extremely minute majority who didn't polish Shrubs jackboots with their tongue like everydamnbody else did.

It's not coincidence they got Spitzered for it, and the fact that the current administration has nothin to say about it oughta tell you something.

And it ain't just them - go look up ALL the politicians who stood up, spoke out, filed impeachment proceedings, when the rest of the world was busy gargling Shrubs dick like it was manna from heaven, every single bloody one of em got this treatment, and those that didn't roll over and take it got it that much worse.

Beyond that, do not presume to discuss Detroit politics with *me* when you have not a fucking clue of any of it whatever, while John boy was hiding under the fucking judiciary committee table and NOT DOING HIS JOB cause he was too scared of them neocon pissants, his wife stood and delivered, and the man turned his back on her, ran from her, to save his goddamn career, such as it is when he's a worthless little quisling who's failure to do his job enabled the tremendous usurpations and abuses not only of the last administration, but also of THIS one.

So one could make a case that most of the shit you're whining about could also be laid at his feet for failing to prevent it, cause if he's such a pathetic pansy he wouldn't stand up to the GOP, you *know* he's not gonna stand up to Obama when him and his go over the top, is he ?

And you're gonna sit there and bitch about folk who stood up when it counted, even when it cost them all they had, even when no one else had the guts, even when they got completely crushed and mocked, ignored, vilified, and yet still they stood...

So I guess George Washington and his buncha crazy talkers shoulda just shut up and went with the flow back in 1776 eh ?

Or maybe the White Rose shoulda kept their damn mouths shut like good little germans, right ?

And perhaps if Martin Luther King had kept his damned trap shut it wouldn't have caught him a bullet, would it ?

Sometimes the act of standing for something is worth it even if you do fail, sometimes people cannot go on living with themselves if they don't, and when it doesn't work, history is quick to vilify them as fools - but there's the rub, sometimes it DOES, cause I remember one student standing off a tank in Tianamen Square that day, too.

Of course, YOUR only reaction to that was probably "what an idiot" - since, never having possessed a single ounce of courage, the mere quality is beyond your comprehension.

And that's a damn sad thing.

What's sad is your childish display of vulgarity in concert w/ your lunatic notion in even suggesting Kooky Conyers or McKinney have anything remotely in common with George Washington or MLK Jr. Congressman Conyers got shot down and his actions ridiculed because they were flat out baseless and absurd. It was nothing but a purely political ploy on his part, and even most Dim-o-crats weren't THAT stupid to play along.

Come on now, you're speaking about the future president of the united states, running under the newest sensation since Miley Cyrus - the Tea Party.

Yes, folks she's really rolling now. Just think of it a hockey mom in the White House what totes a gun, a bikini and the New York Times.

Nations will tremble at the mere sight of her. Middle East will be no more once she sets foot in the New White House in Alaska. Cause we all know she's no Washington insider.

I could see it now, Kim Jung Il will say the wrong thing at a Summit Meeting and Sarah will draw on him saying "reach for the sky, pardner" And when his hands don't reach her bellybutton she'll take it as an insult and fill him full of lead.

This has international incident written all over it.

The campaign slogan will be "Going Rogue totin' my 44s" Yeeeeeeehhhhaaaaaaaa!

By the way, constantly calling others childish is truly piteous and an obvious transferrence, given your propensity for infantile behavior is just as great as anyone else's. Just sayin'...
