Obama (August 2007): We’ve got to get the job done there and that requires us to have enough troops so that we’re not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous problems there.

And now that Obama is in charge?

Civilians taking shelter killed in U.S. bombing in Afghanistan
ASSOCIATED PRESS • MAY 6, 2009

Bombing runs called in by U.S. forces killed dozens of civilians taking shelter from fighting between Taliban militants and Afghan and international troops, Afghan officials said Tuesday. The United States promised a joint investigation.
Overall death toll estimates varied widely. Villagers estimated that 70 to well more than 100 civilians may have died, according to local and regional officials. No government official could confirm such a toll.

Civilian deaths have caused increasing friction between Afghan and U.S. governments, and Afghan President Hamid Karzai has long pleaded with U.S. officials to reduce the number of civilian casualties in their operations. Karzai is to meet with President Barack Obama in Washington today.

Let the spinning commence

Oh, so when it happens under Bush, he's a war criminal. But when Obama is President?

Silence.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Did it ever occur to you that maybe everybody was just ignoring you? Here, if it'll make you feel better, I'll play along with your little game...

So are you here to convince us all that it's just collateral damage, as you always claimed before? Are you here wondering why Jack Murtha isn't calling those responsible "cold-blooded killers"? Are you wondering why he hasn't been "taken out back and put down" like you called for last time around? Are you here to shout us down and label us terrorist-loving freedom-hating America-haters if we say this is a bad outcome and should be investigated to see how it went so wrong?

Are you going to tell us that, while you defended Bush for the exact same acts, you WON'T defend Obama? Seems a bit partisan of you... While you spent the entirety of the Bush presidency telling us all to shut the fuck up and quit blaming Bush, now you're the first to do what you decried in others, so long as it's Obama on the receiving end of your bitching and blaming.

Let the spinning commence, indeed. You should be dizzy, you've spun so much!

Collateral damage, friendly fire, bad intel, all are such trials which occur in the fog of war.

Murtha, like all other Dems, are strangly silent on this matter, when it happens with someone else in the White House.

It's a reality of war, but I find it ironic to the hilt that Obama's own words come back to bite him in the ass ( or should, if the MSM would even THINK of doing its job ) It's far easier to accuse and criticize when you're not the one in power. I hope now that Obama sees that this job isn't as easy as he had imagined, but politics being what it is, I know it's unlikely we'll see any such acknowledgment.

I've not spun anything in the least. I've not accused Obama of anything remotely what he accused our former President of doing, or our soldiers of doing. That's exactly why I put OBAMA'S OWN WORDS at the top of the post, to remind simpletons like yourself just what it was that Obama and the far Left nuts were saying, only a year or so ago.

Shoe's on the other foot now. How's it fit ?

The fact that you're so intellectually DIShonst to even admit the most basic and simple truths is so critically telling.

You exude lameness, y'know that?
Obama is making mistakes. Like Bush did. But Bush STARTED in Iraq, forcing the Afghanistan situation to fester. You still don't get that NO ONE at the top truly knows what they are doing...

Sad, foolish machine.

* On October 7, 2001, strikes were reported in the capital, Kabul (where electricity supplies were severed), at the airport and military nerve-center of Kandahar (home of the Taliban's Supreme Leader Mullah Omar), and also in the city of Jalalabad.

* Operation Iraqi Freedom,....began on March 20, 2003 with the invasion of Iraq by a multinational force now led by and composed almost entirely of troops from the United States and United Kingdom.

Sad, and foolish, indeed. Check out the man in the mirror, yo.

Hey, being right and smarter than the crowd comes w/ the job. Sure, you might find a sense of comfort in your lemming pack, but my conscience simply won't allow me to live like that.

Not ever.

When you're fighting an enemy that hides behind its civilians, this kind of crap is going to happen. It's sad when it does, but it's slimy bastards using civilians for cover who are to blame, not our military, not our president. We should remember this is same enemy (Taliban) responsible for Al-Qeuda and 9/11.

Saddam Hussein and Iraq, however, had nothing to do with 9/11. They're weren't a real threat. THAT's why Bush caught flack when civilians were killed. It wasn't because our troops were careless. It was BECAUSE THE WHOLE GODDAMNED WAR SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED.
