...NOT wanting America to sink to the sick, twisted level of those evil tools of Satan that would use torture & terrorism (even if we employ those methods in smaller degrees) to achieve our desired political goals is UN-AMERICAN & TREASONOUS.

A polite effue to you peeps (rhymes with creeps), and you know who you are. I would challenge y'all to a Shindig-like duel if I believed you actually had the guts you pretend to display here, but alas, all I sense is cowardice, of a sort.

I'd murdalize ya.

Problem is, though Jack Bauer makes it look cool, all torture really does is establish a precedence for false confessions. We already got enough of that intimidation garbage from the police without givin' 'em free reign to actually make good on their threats.

Well, more than they do NOW with tazers and bullshit excuses for gunning people down, anyway.

I'd be one of those people just making things up if I were tortured. Why wouldn't think they are telling me lies? It's not only immoral it's illogical.

This torture (harsh interrogation) thing has no defense. We don't need it. The results are suspect at best. Very difficult to prove either way. We're supposed to be the civilized ones. There are always other options.

Says who? Are you confusing real life with an episode of "24" again? How many times do I have to tell you, you're not Jack Bauer, and that ticking time-bomb scenario never happened, except in some scriptwriter's head.

Not to you, I guess. But since Joss IS one of "them pansy assed Libs in Hollyweird", it is rather important to ME. Probably not important enough that I'd pop a stiffie thinking about torturing someone just to see the look on their face, like you would, but still pretty important.

Face it, little boy, you just get off on pain, and will look for any excuse to torture anyone, and you're happy as can be just as long as it's not being inflicted on you. Have you stopped mutilating animals yet, you pathetic psychopathic little freak?

In my book, the ends never justify the means. Parading people around naked was one of the more fun things the Nazis did to their incarcerated helpless during WWII. It was a real hoot for them, and an embarrassing humiliation for those forced to do it. If we sink to their tactics, no matter the excuse, how are we better than them? Don't give me some pie-in-the-sky rationale either. The abuses at Abu Grahib were beyond anything I could have imagined we as Americans could do. Nudity, sex, stress positions, personal degradement, etc. are just pure demented sadism. As for Gitmo, just how long were we gonna keep those people there, forever? Does that seem right to you? Enough is enough. We must find our soul again in these matters. If innocents die along the way, we never can be 100% sure what tactics, if any, would have possibly prevented it. But in the big picture, its a price we pay for our ideals of humanity and goodness. The same can be said of just our regular daily street crime. There's no difference between a woman or child rapist/murderer than a terrorist from Pakistan. Try them, convict them, execute them fine, or kill them on the battlefield. Don't round 'em up to be fodder for some Dachau Eike-school training for SS sadism.

Yes I do to a degree. And yes, despite their murderous violence and death wish for all of us, they ARE still people. But NONE of that matters. WE are the ones that matter. WE are the ones who will survive this era in our history, and WE are the ones who will be forever stained by these activities.

Most were not "terrorists". There are documented cases of people mistakenly picked up and tortured. oops

And I wish you were one of them.

That way you could come back and tell us first-hand what a joyride it was.

Once of the things I realized about the old patriots... the founding fathers, the winter soldiers... was that they sacrificed themselves for freedom and democracy. But you? You're too chicken sh*t to even tolerate being afraid. But I noticed you're very good at throwing others into the maw.

Doesn't say much good about you or your brand of patriotism, does it?

Excuse me, but that's just ridiculous. Just because someone is not fighting in the military doesn't mean squat. FDR sent millions off to fight all over the world, but he never wore the uniform of a soldier. Neither did Lincoln. You call someone a chickenshit, and then you point to the Founding Fathers? Quite a bit of difference there mate. Our colonies were occupied, then invaded, and the war was fought on our home soil. You had 2 choices then, be an American rebel, or be a Tory collaborator. Nowadays, all 300 million of us don't need to sling weapons. We have "experts' for that now, men and women who volunteer to serve, and we are lucky to have them.

Not that. What I'm saying is that rappy is so chicken-sh*t that even the thought of terrorism... and the fear that it induces in him... is enough to make him willing to toss other people's rights away. He can't even sacrifice his "peace of mind".

Yanno, I live in a big city. It contains the symbol of American's cultural imperialism, widely seen as a purveyor of corruption. Nuclear plants just south. THE major western port city. Porous border. A nice big, fat, juicy target which is very difficult to secure. If anyone should be afraid of a terrorist strike it should be me. And I'm fully aware of the risk. 9-11 didn't surprise me in the least. Terrorists have not gone away, and even a resurgent Russia might find it useful to slip a suitcase nuke or dirty bomb into the hands of suicide nutcase.

And even THAT thought is not about to make me go Jack Bauer. Am I nervous about a terrorist atack? SURE. It's always a possibility. Do I support abrogating our civil rights in response? NO, I DO NOT.

Rappy need to grow a f*cking spine.

Well I'm a bit rejuvenated by your stunning admission of your awareness of the threats surrounding you, maybe as much as some were today about what I've written about my beliefs concerning torture. Nevertheless, when you say a person needs to grow a fucking spine is where I lose you. Lots of people support harsh interrogation methods as a tool against terrorism. Their minds will not be changed by having insults hurled at them. You can do better than that.

I have been aware of the threats around us for decades. The bombing in Kenya, the Cole, the warning about three weeks before 9-11 that "chatter" had raised the perceived risk of American interests abroad... and nothing between "us" and "them" except 3000 miles of empty ocean? Geographical isolation is not a protection in this day-and-age! I can imagine all kinds of horrific scenarios. I was just relieved that 9-11 was not worse.

Were we pulling fingernails off? No. Were we jabbing them with hot pokers? No. How about the rack? Nope. But comparing a jail cell strip search to the growling German Sheppard/Doberman Pincher naked pyramid homo-erotic displays directed by who knows (CIA, Waffen SS) we saw under our ownership was disgusting, vile, and perverted. Are we a nation of demented sadists who delight at the humiliation of our enemies? Hundreds of doctor-supervised waterboard sessions? What doctor(s)?...Mengele offspring? Don't give me that Ritz Carlton felgercarb either. Anyone captured and put in a cell deserves some basic human rights treatment. I'm certainly no whiz kid, but I know that a whipped dog will never trust you, and will usually seek violent revenge. Showing some measure of respect and human dignity maybe could have produced better results than we got for our disgraceful policies with prisoners.

A coward & a piss pot, oh how I've longed to hear that. I take it all back too. I love torture and human degradation.

Of course the events you mention were done buy a bunch of sadistic perverts that are now serving jail time. These methods were never sanctioned by our Government.

Nietzsche said: "Wer mit Ungeheuern kämpft, mag zusehn, daß er nicht dabei zum Ungeheuer wird." In RAPO-speak: you can't become a blood thirsty islamo Nazi terrorist in the process of fighting blood thirsty islamo Nazi terrorists -- that's the point.

In the opening scenes of The Naked Gun there's this brilliant bit, where you see a mock-Palestinian Arrafat say something like: "We will drag them by their entrails from here to Damascus, until they include us in the peace proccess!" A joke which is apparently entirely lost on you.

Except - they were.

Obviously, you're not applying for the position of Poster Boy for the Rule of Law. Bet you'd like to waterboard Bush, too.

Either you got a wicked sense of humour, or none at all- I can't tell...
