"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities.

Why not just elect a man who is ALREADY tested and ready for action, instead of taunting the evil doers to test out the new guy's mettle ?

And one just MUST wonder if this speech by Biden had anything to do w/ this bit o' news....

Transition Planning Gets Started Early So Candidates Can Be Prepared for National Security Threats

For the first time in American history, the FBI is already vetting members of the next administration in an effort to make sure that whether John McCain or Barack Obama is the next president, their staffs will be ready to handle any national security threats.

Though no specific threats are evident at this time, some members of the intelligence community say terror groups love to target countries during transition periods. Those intelligence experts point to terror attacks that came as Gordon Brown took over as Britain's new prime minister, and the Madrid bombings of March 11, 2003, that happened just before a major election there as examples of the vulnerability of new administrations.

White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten reportedly held a meeting this week with senior White House staffers and representatives from both the McCain and Obama camps. The goal was to make sure everyone is up to speed on the latest threats and have the information they need to be ready come inauguration day, Jan. 20.

"One of them is going to win the election, and they will be taking over and having to deal with these issues as they take over office. So it's only prudent for us to make sure that we get them the information that we think they need," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said during her Friday briefing.

This year, the presidential transition coordinating council -- brought together by President Bush -- has gotten started at its earliest date ever with the aim of preventing the next president from being caught in the same dilemma Bush faced on Sept. 11. 2001. http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/19/transition-planning-gets-start

I think after the election would be a good time or Israel to bomb nuclear facilities in Iran. They'll probably want to do it before Obama pulls all of our troops out of the Middle East. With our troops under threat from Iran, Obama might get drawn into a conflict with Iran if the Israelis play their cards right. It would be pretty ironic if Obama's first actions as President got us into another war.

Oh, I don't know, being a Naval pilot, 21 yrs of military service, service as a member of Congress and then 22 yrs as US Senator are a good indicator that McCain has knowledge and experience to do the job.

Why, got anyone in mind who has more ?

I agree with Biden. As soon as Bush is gone foreign entities hostile towards to the US will seek to take advantage of a weak president. What’s interesting is that even Biden believes Obama is a weak president, which should speak volumes to those interested in voting for Obama. Biden realizes that Obama isn’t likely to have the respect of foreign enemies, and is so certain of that he is starting damage repair months in advance.

More like Obama's gonna have to play fireman and stomp out all those nasty political brushfires the arrogance and incompetence of the current administration started - not to mention intel agencies stirring up shit once he tries to put the leash on the rabid little bastards.

Respect ?

Bush is a fucking worldwide LAUGHINGSTOCK - if there's any fear at all it's of a petulant and tempermental child in control of the worlds nastiest military and largest arsenal.

This is the same mentality that sent that absolute lunatic Bolton to the UN, imagine that, a "diplomat" SO obnoxious, SO offensive, that he offends everyone in range the minute he opens his mouth whether they understand his language or not, just by his tone and attitude.

Fuck that, I woulda sent Clinton, diplomacy is every bit as dirty and underhanded as politics, or military intervention to benefit corporations, or anything else we do - at the very freakin least we should make a good game of it.

Had we played our cards right, we'd have had everything they wanted AND had them happy to give it to us, but when the ego and pride of our political leaders is more important than getting the job done, what the hell do you expect ?

And of course, all this without a single thought to how a lotta them folk became our enemies in the first damn place...

Fact is, most people, all they want is a decent job that makes enough to support and raise their family, a roof over their head - to go home, eat dinner, tuck the kids in and maybe fool around a bit with the wife, anyone, anywhere, regardless of race, religion or creed....

You start takin that away, you fuck with them, and they'll fight, you take away even the HOPE of it, they'll fight you to the last spitting breath, hating you all the way.

But you leave em ALONE a while, STOP FUCKING WITH THEM, and eventually, barring a few folk with some pretty obvious screws loose, they're gonna say screw it and go home - and if those with the loose screws then mess with em, they'll fight them, not us.

It's human freakin nature - see to your own needs, and fight that which prevents you from fulfilling them, very simple, really.

If they get the idea that maybe we're gonna leave well the hell alone, which we ain't done since WWII, then they'll sit over there and talk smack at us, and barring being "helped along" by our own traitorous intel folk to keep the fear button pushed over here - generally have not the means and will to do anything more than bitch.

I don't care whether they like us, I don't care whether they "respect" us - acting like a fuckin self important high school gym coach is what got us into this stupidass mess to begin with, and all to our misfortune.

I care whether they leave us the hell alone, and they can't DO that when we're over there screwing up their lives in every way imagineable.

I love how the rightwingnuts cuss, spit and whine about how politicians here wanna run every aspect of our lives for us, but do not see the dichotomy of going into a foreign country and doing exactly the same to them.

What's the damn difference ?

And when it comes to it, what's the damn difference between the hoo-rah chickenhawk bastards of the hard right, which gave us William Krar, and the islamic variation of the same, which gave us Ramzi Youssef ?

Not a dimes worth of difference between them, save that the islamics as a general rule aren't over HERE and in positions of influence on our Government.

I see the Christian Right and the Taliban as essentially the same thing, both wanna force their beliefs down our throats on a pike, and the only thing barely-kinda-sorta stopping them is the tattered remnants of a barely respected Constitution that recieves more lip service than belief.

No, foreign nations do not scare me, because I do wholeheartedly believe the greater threat lies here, between the Christian Right, our Alphabet goons, and Corporate avarice and exploitation, we don't NEED a foreign threat to destroy us, and while we're busy staring over the water, these sociopaths are robbing us blind and fucking us over in every way possible.

The true enemy lies in DC, in Langley, and nestles like a creature of darkness around every pulpit in america, and if we continue to ignore it, it's gonna blindside us once again, mark my words.

And if some of you choose to take that as me insinuating that you're a worse threat to all that is america than the Taliban - I ain't *insinuating* it at all, I am flat out sayin it.

The Talitubbies ain't the ones crapping on our freedoms, using the Constitution for toilet paper, it's our own people doin that.

Ask yourself this question - since 9/11, who's done more DAMAGE, the islamic radical nutters, or our own ?

Cause it strikes me that we're fightin the wrong enemy.

Ah, so THAT's why we were attacked on 9/11 - because Bush was such a weak and horrible president!

Truth be told, there's always SOMEONE who wants to "test" any new president, to see how far they can push. There'll be someone trying to push Obama, there'll be someone trying to push McCain, and the cycle goes on...

As for McCain having been "tested" - as president, does he plan on getting shot down and taken prisoner on a regular basis?

Actually, it's closer to $150k now. $75k to Nieman's, $50 to Sak's, $9500 to Macy's - all in the past month!

And there's some controversy about more than $20,000 billed to the state of Alaska for trips she took her kids on, and then included their bills on her expense reports, changing them to read "business expenses". We'll have to see how that one plays out.

Upon hearing of Biden's latest prediction, Louis Farrakhan ordered his Black Muslim followers to cut up their white robes into little squares. Farrakhan will deliver them personally to his good friend Obama to be used as surrender flags all over the world. Reverand Jeremiah Wright will assist with the surerender flag distribution. He'll sell them in the lobby of his church, right next to his God Damn America videos. For an extra 3 bucks, you can get one personally signed by Obama's mentor Bill Ayers.

C'mon Finn, you can't believe that Biden INTENDED to say Obama would be a weak President. He's campaigning for the man. So, either he misspoke, as he has so often misspoken before; or you've discovered a Freudian slip; or you're taking his comments out of context. So, the best you got is the Freudian slip and that sure doesn't seem like much to hang your hat on. And that's a game that has no winners.

Hey, McCain thinks Pennsylvanians are "nasty!!!" And here's the PROOF:

No Freudian slip, no out of context. He said it soberly and alarmingly, and in line with his previous statements about Obama being "un-qualified to be President."

So, the best you got is the Freudian slip and that sure doesn't seem like much to hang your hat on. And that's a game that has no winners.

I think it says that even the man who’s going to be Obama’s VP doesn’t really believe in the Obama. Not that I blame him. Obama has no experience, and if he’s elected president, it will basically be because he’s black. It’s a novelty. Americans feel like they want change in the White House, and they’ve confused change with different. Obama is a black man running for president – in a way he represents change in America, but that’s a superficial distinction. In reality, Obama is a very left-wing politician who intends to move the country towards a more socialist economy and has little to no foreign policy credibility at a time when we are engaged in a war on multiple fronts. His only saving grace is 1) he’s a black man and Americans like the novelty of it, 2) McCain is perceived rather inaccurately as being the same as Bush. The only reasons Obama has any momentum at all in this campaign are very superficial, so it’s not hard to understand that Biden, deep down, doesn’t really take him that seriously.

He'll have to ask McCain how to go about surrendering, seeing as McCain is the more experienced in that department.

No Freudian slip, no out of context. He said it soberly and alarmingly, and in line with his previous statements about Obama being "un-qualified to be President."

Hey Jongs,

I was speaking on principle, not having reviewed Biden's remarks in full. I knew he wouldn't intend to say that Obama would be a weak President.

Having heard his comments now, I don't see that his comment has ANYTHING to do with what kind of President Obama will be. It has EVERYTHING to do with how Biden thinks some folks in the world will react to a President Obama. It implies that some folk may try to take advantage of what they perceive to be weakness, but how do you get to Biden HIMSELF thinking Obama would, in fact, be weak?

Also he calls the impending crisis a "manufactured crisis." What does he mean by that? I haven't listened to the whole conversation that brought him to these over-cooked prophetic remarks, but I don't hear a guy who lacks confidence in his running-mate here. I'll grant that he's being a know-it-all with this and that he's inflating his own ego a good deal, but again, it does not imply that Biden sees Obama as a poor choice for President.

Oh, and, by the way, I think he's full of crap. He was wrong about Iraq, and he can be wrong about this "crisis" of his.

You and Finn obviously think Obama is a poor choice for President. I can respect that. There are perfectly rational reasons to oppose an Obama Presidency (don't see a lot of reasonable grounds for supporting McCain on the other hand, but that's another issue). Why do you have to drag Biden into it?

Biden knows perfectly well the intel goons are gonna start some shit the minute Obama tries to snap the leash back on, that man is NOT stupid, politically or professionally, and he knows how things work both in the light of day and under cover of darkness.

He's also well aware of the petulance and maliciousness of the modern GOP and their NeoCon-PNAC-CleanBreak-Likud fanatic wing.

Saying that they will try to fuck things up and blame it on Obama is like saying the sun will rise in the east tomorrow, everybody knows it, Joe just decided to SAY it, to take some of the sharpness off that blade when it falls.

I always gave Rummy credit, he was not and never will be the most ethical of folk, but he was SMART, and knew how to play the game.

Well, the GOP has Rummy, and the Dems have Biden, he's not a NICE man by any stretch, in fact he's somewhat of an asshole, but he's a good guy to have on your side, especially when things get rough.

He's letting on that he knows, at least in a general sense, what the other side is up to, and challenging them a bit to put them off their game, is what it is, folks.

Like I said, he's SMART, in a way Obama is too nice to ever be - and a damn good choice for veep, cause I sure as hell wouldn't want him in charge, but I *would* want him on the team, oh yes.

Drag Biden into it? Didn’t anyone tell you? He’s Obama choice for VP. No one’s dragging him into it; he got into it on his own.

Thanks for the context, Frem. That makes a lot more sense than Iran attacking Isreal and the rest of the crap I was getting on this.

No prob, HKC, mark my words, he's the one to watch - every good velvet glove needs an iron fist, and Biden is about as good a left hand man as you'd get, all subtle like, but effective as hell when it comes to it.

Let the RNC keep underestimating him, and here I sit grinning, waiting for the moment he sets them up by proxy....

And kicks their balls up right between their ears.

Sure as day follows dawn, mano - my respect for politicians in general would drown in a thimble, but Biden is someone I *do* respect, and coming from a malicious sidewinding sneaky bastard like me, that really ought to scare folk rather than comfort them.

Just glad he's beside the throne, and not on it, I am.

There, I gave you a triple dose. Happy now?

And if you consider a USAF pilot being shot down during a war combat mission, breaking both arms and a leg in the crash, being bayonetted repeatedly while being unconscious and carried on a stretcher to be surrendering, then you've drunk even more kool-aid than I could have imagined possible. You are truly one hopelessly sick jerk. You have much good company here. I pity all of you for your suicidal and dim-witted liberal views of the world. Eight years of non-stop Bush-Cheney hatred has left you and your fellow left-wingers spent and exhausted. Everything you got left is invested in your pathetic radical neophyte Obama. That is very sad for you on many levels, the most alarming being how you going to cope with 12-16 years of McCain-Palin. I don't even want to imagine what that will do to you, considering you're borderline psychotic and insane right now.

I agree HK, of course he didn't INTEND to say it...but he did. Joe has a well-documented history of letting his subconcsious do the talking.

Just like when he said Obama was un-qualified to be President during the Primary when he was running ( and losing again) for President. Except that time he really meant it.

He also said he'd never want to be VP. He also said he gets advice and inspiration from a local diner in Scranton where the common folk hang out. Unfortunately, the placed he specifically named has been closed for 20 years.

He also said FDR went on TV after the 1929 crash. He didn't know there was no tv then, and he didn;t know FDR was not the President then.

So to me he looks like a fucking idiot. Much, much, much, stupider than Sarah Palin. Biden's been a Senator for 36 YEARS!...36 fucking years...what the fuck has he EVER DONE? He's led a good champagne toasting life, and never been a leader or a statesman. I can't recall one piece of legislation with his name on it.

He's justy a washed-up LOSER who had his arm twisted to join Obama to help with Obama's inexperience and radicalism problems.
