I've made up my mind that I'm voting for Obama.

Not for the reasons that you think, I assure you.

I know a third party vote This Time means nothing.....

I just want the Democrats to win and have all three of the big spots to themselves.

And then I want you to witness how nothing changes on Wall Street.

And then I want you to see that healthcare won't get any better, except by raising taxes on smokers (and probalby fat snacks) by 100%.

And then I want you to acknowledge that we're never leaving Iraq in this, our rotten-to-the-core two party system.

And MOST of all, in 4 years I want you to remember George W Bush and the hell his administration has brought to every single one of us little guys.

After all of that, I would think that voting for a third party to oust these anti-American bastards might just be a fun thing to do, just to see if it could possibly get any worse....

Two sides of the same coin is all, says the Donkey....

RIP in 2012 if we don't wake up.

Okay, Imma play AURaptor here for a minute:

Just HOW is your life any different for the Bush Boys being the captain of our ship,eh?

Are YOU being tortured in Syria?
Are YOU in pain & discomfort because vet services can't properly attend to your war-related health problems?
Are YOU being spied upon via internet & phone sweeps?
Are YOU paying so much for gas that you can't afford your other living expenses?
Are YOU feeling international pressure to be ashamed of your country?

Thought not- see, all is well, and our economy is springing back, we've won the Iraq war, and we can now kick Iran to the curb as well. You peeps whine about all manner of illusory losses of civil rights & damaged economy....unlike Sarah Palin, you can never see half-full as enough! Take a page from her playbook & screw someone you don't lik- er, I mean, live life to the fullest!!!

If you're accusing me of being a Rethug for any reason than supporting Ron Paul here Chris, you know better.

A little negative for me, but that's only because I'm at the same optimism/pessimism level that I've always been and I'm amazing how everyone who was WAY THE FUCK IN THE CLOUDS.......

sooooo...
loooooooow....
nooooooooooooow....

Most of ya'all way below me on the confidence in our futures department anyhow....

Like to see them go to Canada like the Baldwins did though, right?

Only man in showbiz that I got any respect for that I know about who has a loud political voice is Johnny Depp bececause he made good on his promise.

Me... I'll get out when/if it's necessary. Still really no place I'd rather live.

Now's the time to prepare man. I hope nothing gets worse, but if you got a few extra bucks to spend just buy water and canned goods and some tools and supplies. Hopefully, you'll never use most of it. It gives an infinite amount of piece of mind to know that you could survive for months without ever having to open your front door though.

The way I figure it, if somebody hasn't at least secured about 3 months of autonomous security for them and their family from any potential hard times, they have no right to bitch about the Government not helping them.

"I've made up my mind... I'm voting for Obama"

Congratulations 6ix on your decision. Obama will make a fine President.

I'm leaning hard towards one candidate, but I'm keeping it open until after the next 2 debates, and whatever else occurs in the next 29 days.

I know you're smart, and you intentionally missed my point, but I am 100% serious that I'm voting for Obama. Hopefully it's not Kool-Aid and it's a fix. I'm certainly not voting for McCain either way. If it was Ron Paul and Dennis Kuscinich on the same ticket, I think they'd both have a run for their money now.

Both two sides of the same defaced coin....

6ix...no smarts, no agenda here. I'm just glad you're voting for your choice. And I'm wishing you good luck with your decision. No political rancor coming from me for the duration.

Mine is only an agenda in which I really can feel like it's my fault because of my decision

I'm only hoping that people don't forget 4 years from now that they threw away their only 2 chances for change in the primaries.

Pass me 4 more years of the SOS either way now bartender.

That they are, Jack.

Me, I am doin this in plain and simple self defense.

Four more years of the current Feudo-Fascist, NeoCon-PNAC-Likud agenda is gonna kill us all for sure...

As would too much of the National Socialism the other guys are pushing, no doubt about it.

So for the moment, we need to buy time by using one poison as an antidote to the other, while we frantically look for a real cure.

Reminds me a bit of a convo between a certain ships captain and his bosun in WWII.

Capt "We need to get two minutes lead on them and then we can.."

Bosun "SIR!?"

Capt "Yes, Bosun ?"

Bosun "First Sir, get the two minutes..."

So, first we get this jug-eared socialist sumbitch in office, and while they're busy trying to untangle the resultant clusterfuck enough to refine and implement their grand plans for us, we hack them off at the knees before they get off the ground with it, and KEEP them in that weakened state long enough for the third parties to lace up their doc martens and deliver a well deserved curb stomping to both sets of the nefarious bastards.

Like the man said... first, get the two minutes.

We don't have to LET them roll over us Jack, they're gonna be too busy trying to consolidate their own post-election positions to be watching behind them so closely - where you and me happen to be standing with sharp pointy political knives.

Would be a shame to waste that opportunity, wouldn't it ?

I like that analogy - it's like political chemotherapy! Hopefully the poison we introduce into the political system this time around will kill most of the cancer without killing the patient. THEN we introduce the REAL cure!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I'm supporting Obama ONLY in the "hope" that he's not *quite* as politically indentured to the Powers That Be as the other guy. It's not as if I'm going in with blinders on, thinking he'll be our knight in shining armor on a milk-white steed. I don't think he can un-fuck us completely; I just hope he isn't of a mind to fuck us even more.

SixString, I find your standpoint completely reasonable. The only problem is, if (when?) the Democrats screw things up, there still won't be a serious consideration of having a third party. The US is too entrenched in its two-party system, having a credible third party would almost seem "un-American" to most voters.

I also completely agree with what Kwicko said.

That's exactly the problem. Giving in to the lesser of two evils notion only perpetuates things. I'm sympathetic to the excuses for doing so, and the thought of four more years of neo-con/neo-fascism isn't appealing, but it'll be the same time next time around. Every election, we hold our noses and voter for the one who's a little less scary, telling ourselves that next time we'll be ready to make a stand. I dunno... I don't see how it's ever going to happen.

I don't know. If Sen. Obama wins we're also going to see larger Democratic majorities in the House and Senate - maybe enough to invoke cloture. Wouldn't be surprised to see the financial crisis suddenly disappear from the media, since it's no longer useful for flaying the Republicans. I'm betting that the Democratic leadership has their 'Hundred Days' list already typed up, distributed, and ready to go, and if they get a filibuster-proof majority it'll roll it right through. If so, I'm not sure how we accomplish the 'hacking off at the knees' of which you speak. Suggestions?

Don't worry, a filibuster-proof majority is highly unlikely, they'll most likely have 56 or 57 seats, including Sanders and Lieberman, and obviously Lieberman isn't a reliable vote anymore.

By not falling into the bad habit of letting the pressure off, like folk did when the dems took more seats in congress, something I warned folk was a mistake before it ever happened.

Like I said - first get the two minutes.

As for hacking them off at the knees, the MOST important thing is to keep the pressure on, look at the amount of outrage over this fucking bailout, as a case example - we need to take advantage, harness that and use it to derail the current two party system by offering a real alternative, and for that we desperately need those willing to be a third party to up their game.

Your current opinion of the Libertarians is a lot of the reason I do not support them, besides the fact that Barr is more of the same once you scratch off the thin coat of paint they've slapped on, there's also such hostility towards anyone with a more liberal mindset that they might as well just be the GOP-Lite, and their recent behavior shows it quite clearly.

The schism between them and Ron Paul is something absolutely crippling and needs to be addressed immediately, and I do question the wisdom of supporting double-dealing religious fanatics for a public office (Constitution/Taxpayers) especially when they've committed such misdeeds before even aquiring such office.... that's NOT a good sign.

There's no easy road, no white knight gonna come in on a charger and rescue us, we need to do it ourselves, and to get that done, we're gonna have to get our hands dirty - politics is the second oldest profession, with a strong resemblence to the first, and playing nice just ain't gonna cut it.

I am currently formenting a mild revolt in my local Libertarian party, since a lot of them feel betrayed by the party machinery and Barr in particular, and working out tolerances with Gus's more socialist folk, cutting out the bullshit till we get down to the bedrock we can ALL agree with and then steamrollering what remains of those GOP-Lite morons once we've siphoned off as many supporters as are willing to do more than lip-service.

It's time to play rough, is what it is, and putting the arm on your reps, from local to state, to congress, is never a bad idea.
