They all said it would be easy.......
Ex-General Valelly
Ex-General McKiernan
Ex-Colonel Hunt
Ex-Colonel North
etc etc etc...

They had the whole "invasion" mapped out in nice pastel colors showing us civilians and the rest of the world how it was going to be easy. What they never talked about or showed us was the colored map for the plans following the disappearance of the Iraqi Army back into the streets. No plans for occupation, no plans for rule over civilians, and no real allies in Iraq. Oh, and sectarian violence...? what's that? Al Qaida infiltration...? Nah, won't happen? Even after the original Fallujah massacre where our ambushed dead soldiers were hung from bridges, even then, the dolts running the show didn't f'ing get what they would be up against for the next 3 years. To say or imply anything about Iraq has been easy is an utter denial of reality.

of course it was easy.... a superpower drops tons of munitions on what was a practically defenseless country - killing thousands of civilians - in an attempt to make Bush and the neo-cons look like heros. Knowing it would be much harder to get the same results by invading Afghanistan, this administration decided to take the easy road to vengeance - lying to the public every step of the way... and the lie lives on through McCain.

In my opinion, anyone with more than half a brain should be able to see through the bullshit about this failed attempt to "spread democracy" in the middle east - but lately, it seems like the half-brains are in the majority...

point of interest - the men who were killed and hung from that bridge in Fallujah - were actually mercenaries employed by Blackwater - the private security company hired by Bushco to spread our own kind of terror in a foreign country....

The latter part of your statement is just your own emotional ideological opinion. They were Americans regardless, and I suppose you never felt any outrage over the incident.

I was just pointing out the fact that those men were not in the U.S. military and were there simply for their own profit - i am against the loss of any life - regardless of what nationality that life may be, American, Iraqi, Afghan, or anyone else for that matter....

Over MERCS?!

Yer kidding me, right ?

They signed up for it and collected the paycheck, didn't they ?

These ain't some poor stop-lossed dimwit kids the recruiters lied to, these are career grunts who took this option voluntarily for money, in full acceptance of both the high risk of death, and not being protected by certain conventions and laws which do not apply to them.

No matter what the cause is, valid or not, it'll be a long day comin before I have any sympathy over Merc casualties.

And it sure doesn't help matters that Group 4 Securitas, Wackenhut, Dyncorp, Executive Outcomes, TitanCorp, Triple Canopy and CACI have about the worst possible reputation you can imagine, Blackwaters only saving grace is that they are discreet and tend not to leave witnesses, but you ask me, that doesn't exactly make em any better, rather more the opposite.

This is a fairly sore spot for me, as I have worked for similar companies that actually had ethics, which were eventually driven out of business by the scum, who were offered quite lucrative contracts by the alphabet boys BECAUSE of that lack of ethics.

About the only one left around worth a damn is SEI, and it seems no coincidence they've hardly any americans within their ranks.

For the most part, these guys are GOONS, right, only thing that makes Blackwater any kind of special (and scary) is that they are competent goons, lead by a religious nutcase of the worst order.

If the day ever comes when they start rounding up americans into camps, bet you're bottom dollar that Blackwater will be the ones doing it, grinning all the while, they don't ask questions and they don't give a shit whether something is ethical or even legal.

So forgive me if I am a less than sympathetic to a pack of murderous bastards who'll do anything at all for a buck.

Like I said, a sore spot, and a damned big one.

...as far as outrage goes... believe me, there is plenty of that to go around - especially by the innocent victims of a sovereign nation who were invaded under false pretenses....

I didn't need any more proof that McClown would be a worse choice than Obomba, but thanks anyway.
