*Yawn*...wow, another Bush-bashing thread...
Don't you commie-liberals have anything better to talk about other than Bush's low approval rating, or his allegiance to big government/business, or his drinking problem, or his failing marriage, or his adultery, or his mismanagement, or his lies to the American people, or his puppet to Cheney's hand, or his low IQ, or his waking up in the middle of the night yelling "Love me daddy, why won't you love me??",....man...you guys never stop....

i really try not to do this.... but when a Democrat is elected president.... our side will catch plenty of hell...

I just thought it was funny that Bush would not choose to follow Iowa Republican caucus results, but rather turn in at his normal time (what? about 7:30 pm?).... and when asked who he was rooting for mumbled something about Alf Landon being a nice guy....

Whatever else you might say about Bush (and I could go on in a not very original or enlightened way), he's a political dilattante with no interest in - or qualifications for - being any kind of actual statesman. If he's a student of anything (and a D-student, at that), it would be his own family's wealth and influence.

No idea what he's doing referencing Alf Landon, but here's what Wiki has to say on the subject...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alf_Landon

BTW, I'm currently unable to access the link provided by DLV, so I'm just responding to what's been posted so far...and no, I'm not a particular fan of Dub-Yuh.

It was all nukuler and misunderestimated when we got done clearing brush and riding our mountain bikes!

If I remember my election history correctly, what President Bush was referring to was the election of 1936. The polls that year predicted that Landon would beat FDR in the election, but instead FDR won in the biggest landslide in US history. What Bush was saying is that it's pointless to stay up and watch the polls because their sometimes wrong and we will find out the winner soon enough.

Hello,

I'm not a fan of Bush, but some criticisms of the man are rediculous.

He goes to bed early? Good. I would like my president to be well rested.

He doesn't wait up for results? Good. I would like my president to be patient.

He has low approval ratings? The Democrats should be sure to throw stones from the roofs of their glass houses.

If you're going to tear the man to shreds, try doing it on valid points. There are many of them to choose from.

"Early to bed, early to rise "

Wasn't it Ben Franklin who first coined those words? True then as they are today. Say what you want about W, he's certainly gained wisdom w/ age, unlike some of his contemporaries. At the least,if a man is judged on how he lives his life, W certainly walks the walk. It's harder to find fault in a man who lets his actions speak louder than his words, butchered though they may be.

Heh..... your side.

I hate that mentality. That's how we've gotten so phucked as a nation today.

I believe the Democrats running today, with the possible exception of Dennis Kucinich and his lovely and extremely intelligent potential first lady, are the worst thing that could happen to all of us.....

save the election of Ghouliani, of course.

I would vote even for Hilary if Mr. 9/11 ever got the nod, and sadly, I'm dead serious about that. I'm very happy to see him finish 6th place in Iowa with a 3% showing.

Incidentally, Ron Paul beat the man with a showing in double digits. Not too shabby for the rogue candidate that only pot smokers from the lunatic fringe would vote for, huh?

Maybe that's the problem... not enough people smoke pot. Maybe the lunatic fringe today is a whole lot larger than we've ever imagined it to be, outside of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

I invite all of you pill poppers, over-eaters and boob-tube junkies to throw stones at me now for suggesting that you might see things a little more clearly if you put down the yard-stick and picked up a joint.

Well, I'm an Iowan, and I voted in the caucus, and I'm also in the same time zone of the caucus, and I didn't stay up for the whole thing. I went to bed at 11:00 p.m., which is midnight Washington time.

I certainly hope the President was sound asleep by that point.

Not me. Ask citizen. He's the one who made the inferrence.

Bush may be stubborn, I'll grant that, but an idiot ? Nothing in his military testing ( air force pilot ) or 2 Ivy League degrees he has indicates he's an idiot.

Look, I get folks like to poke fun at W for how he speaks, but the hard cold facts are that he's every bit as smart, if not smarter, than JFKerry. And yet W gets tagged as being the dunce 1000 to 1 over Kerry. Why is that ? Oh yeah, because the mainstream media has said it's so, that's why. Indifferent, unbiased testing says otherwise.

And here we go. All I did was ask the question. YOU were the one who inferred a connection, not I. Too often Bush has been falsly accused of being a "cowboy", a misnomer on its own. Bush is anytning but rash and reckless, as some would assert. The 'early to bed, early to rise' lifestyle of Bush contradicts some of his critic's views on him, that's all I was sayin'. Not that he was Stalin.

Hello,

I think Citizen was attacking the reasoning:
"Man of Action" could mean anything, even Stalin, and is not necessarily something to aspire to on its own.

Not inferring that Bush was equal to Stalin, which I think is something we can all agree is NOT the case.

Hello,

Because if you want to show 'Man of Action' as a fallacious quality outside of context, you obviously pick an example that supports your point.

i.e. "Man of Action? You mean, like George Washington?!"

Doesn't have the same impact in an argument as:

Anthony is correct. Why not Churchill? Because Churchill is generally considered someone 'good', and would hardly be a good example for why a man of action isn't automatically good. It would be like saying "not all black people are good basketball players, just look at Michael Jordan."

Yeah, that was what I was arguing against. Stalin let his actions speak louder than his words, but I don't have a problem finding fault with him. Do you?

AURaptor is making out that it's hard to find fault with someone who 'walks the talk', but it really isn't. Stalin said he was going to kill a bunch of his countrymen, and he went off and killed a bunch of his countrymen, he certainly walked his talk. So does that mean it's harder to find fault with him now?

I second Six's comment, go torch a phattie, willya ?

I love that "Magic" 29% - how stupid do they think we are ?

"Falls this week to 29%..
Plummeted this week to an abysmal 29%..
Falls even further to a new low of 29%.."

Does the media think we're stupid, that we can't count, or have short term memory issues ?
(ok maybe smokin a phattie isn't such a good.. what was I saying again ?... )

I hates em all prettymuch, Bush, the Neocon/PNAC/Clean Break cabal, the Republicans (and I do consider those SEPERATE things), the Greens, cause Nader's such a sellout bitch who'd sell US out the minute he was elected too, and those spineless pissant Democrats.

But yeah, if I hadda call it, I'd admit to hating the Tory/Federalist/Whig/KnowNothing/Republican/Neocon/Straussian asswipes who've been sticking it to us in one long unbroken chain since 1700, sure.

Doesn't mean I like the Tammany Hall crowd all that much better.

Only one I find even tolerable is Ron Paul, cause the ghost of Patrick Henry is hovering in the darkness behind him with a set of pom-poms if you look real close.

Before you posted no one mentioned you, so you must be comparing yourself to Bush!! Your logic isn't. I can mention any name without it being a comparison to Bush, look:
Pol Pot
Peter Pan
The Wizard of Oz
Tiffany Aching

I'm not comparing any of them to bush, yet none of them have been mentioned in any posts yet! Wow, I guess that means not everything is about Bush, at least for me. But then, I'm not irrationally in love with the man.

The only person who made any comparison between Bush and Stalin, was you. Demonstrably so from the fact that the only post where any comparison was indicated, had your name above it.

You may be stupid enough to confuse your strawman arguments with what I'm actually saying, but thankfully I am not, and few others on this board are (for instance AnthonyT who has also tried to set you straight on what I was saying, but in your arrogance you evidently ignored).

Please continue, your lies and strawmen have so far just shown you up as a moron, but you can do better than that, keep going and you can show yourself to be a troll as well. More rope to hang yourself with sir?

Because I didn't, again the only person who did was you. The person doing most of the work to perpetuate this is you. Just about everyone reading this knows what I was trying to say, and someone other than myself has supported that interpretation over your own outright lies. The fact you're so desperate to hang yourself by your own petard while ignoring those trying to set you straight is a failing of your own intellect in the face of your own arrogance, and does not reflect badly on me at all. I'm being incredibly reasonable in the face of an unreasonable poster, who not only is dragging this thread in to baseless accusations, but is ignoring reality and all the people pointing it out.

I don't know why you have to blame me for your trollish behaviour, maybe it's the attention thing you were just talking about. Or maybe you're just too childish and idiotic to take responsibility for your own actions?

There was also no mention of Bush in my post. A lie AURaptor spins in the face of evidence. Clearly no link to Bush was implied, if it was I would have to mention Bush somewhere in my post surely. Some people lie so often they can't seperate their lies from reality perhaps?

The only time any link between Stalin and Bush was mentioned, express or implied:

Only someone truly delusional, or too invested in lying and cowardice (or maybe both) would continue to insist I made a connection that not only I say I didn't make, but others have said I didn't make. Only petty minded arrogance would assume that their own interpretation flawless in the face of the original poster setting them straight. It really is, though a a useful example, you said:

Regarding the Stalin/Bush thing. Here's what I believe happened...

Someone(S) said "A is a good thing, and person B does thing A."
Person 2 (2) said "A is not always good thing, see this instance of person C doing thing A; thus it is unwise to say thing A is always a good thing."

S then said that 2 compared person B to person C; I believe this was an erroneous conclusion. Person 2 merely said that thing A is not always a good thing, and illustrated it.

In this case
A) A man of action/walk the talk.
B) Bush.
C) Stalin.

In any case, feel free to continue exchanging insults, I just felt compelled to point out the above.

Getting those here who already hate Bush and might just as well see him AS Stalin to agree with you isn't exactly winning the argument. It was you who first used the 'Stalin' comparison, not I. And of course, you've tossed out the baseless charge that I've somehow lied again, which is itself laughable. If anyone is lying, it's undeniable you, for failing to come clean and simply admit you're comparing Bush to Stalin. At least AnthonyT comes out and states what you could not, that Bush is NOT Stalin. All this could have been cleared up if you had done the same, but you opted not to, and instaed went w/ the overtly implied position as your fall back.

Oh, and funny comment about the biased MSM. If you are trying to somehow paint the MSM as being unbiased toward the Left, then you're well over the side of the cliff w/ out a parachute on, and headed for the rocks below. There's nothing I , nor anyone, can do to save you there. Sorry

I said a number of times I wasn't saying he was Stalin, it would have all been cleared up if you hadn't lied. But: Bush isn't Stalin.

Though AURaptor is still a liar.

I never lied, and you know it. You wanted to compare Bush to Stalin, which is exactly why you posted your post as you did. Had you wanted to clarifly from the start, you would have. But you knew you could play this game of semantics, until I called you out and forced you to do an about face.

Well done.

We both know you were Lying. Everyone on this thread knows you were lying. I clearly stated several times that I wasn't comparing them, so anyone who reads my posts knows you are lying. Several people have noted that your continued statements are at best erroneous. You're a liar, and by continuing to insist that your lie is true, you are merely proving to everyone that not only are you a liar, but a delusional and immoral one at that.

Please continue to prove me right, well done

Hello,

Auraptor, I feel you are being obtuse in this argument. I don't know if you really don't understand Citizen, or if you are intentionally misrepresenting his position.

Either way, it has surpassed reasonability.

You're the one who is lying here. You started out comparing Bush to Stalin, and then when you realized how absurd and ridiculous that was, even for a Hate-America First member like yourself, you tried to some how spin your lie unto me. Guess that didn't work out too well for ya, huh? Just look at your first post in this thread! Liar.

This thread was about Bush. I remarked about Bush in my response, and then twerp here took my words out of context and compared Bush to Stalin.

No, Citizen took your LOGIC (or lack thereof) ABOUT Bush and used it.

Rap, I'm seriously worried about you. I used to wonder how such a partisan person could function in everyday life after XXX'ing out so many chunks of reality. And now I see the answer is - you can't. You're losing it.

You'll be babbling about the roaring economy, great homes sales, consumer confidence, WMDs everywhere in Iraq, and what a smart and wonderful president Bush is, before long.

I like how everyone is telling him he's wrong, and he's continuing to lie about what I said. It's like the naughty little boy caught stealing who's pointing the finger at someone else and saying "he did it".

All I've done is show the world your words, and anyone following the discussion in context knows you blatently tried to besmirch Bush by interjecting Stalin's name into the discussion. In no way , what so ever did I 'lie', and citizen knows that, but he can't come up w/ a worse derogatory comment to hurl my way. ( yawn ) It's so nonsensical to accuse me of 'lying' , it makes me wonder if there's an alternate meaning for the word over the pond.

rue - if you weren't so busy putting words in my mouth or exaggerating my position, I might take time to reply. But at this point, I fail to see the purpose.

Really I'm not trying to come up with imaginative insults, I'm pointing out that you lied, you're continuing to lie, and that makes you a "liar". Though I dare say I could be more imaginative than "fucking idiot" and "prick", I hope you don't write emails to your mother with that keyboard. Though if I did want to make a more imaginative effort I suppose I could discuss why you joined this site: it said "Browncoat" and AU thought it meant "Brownshirt" and signed up
