I note for the record that the ICC is attempting to prosecute Islamic folks who are engaged in genocide in Africa. They are not getting much cooperation from anybody. At present they are more like a paper tiger. They generate warrants, subpoenas, and press releases, but don't have a single thing to show for it. Not unlike the Democratic Congress.

Just to point out that if you're a politician saying things like "dead or alive" is a really great soundbite, especially for a Texan, older folks will imagine Bush, Steve McQueen and the Duke sadling up a possie to hunt down OBL. It's good political theatre.

Of course 6 months later when you not only haven't "thrown the varmint in the hoosgow" or "hung him high" and in fact have little or no idea where he is, repeating "dead or alive" just shows how impotent you are. At that time playing down his importance would be the only way out.

I have no idea what kind of work you do Rue, but in my corporate experience I've had managers that talk agressively about objectives at the start of a project and then down play it when their brainchild proves to be impossible. That doesn't mean that I believe that the manager wanted to fail all along, just that political and corporate survival mean downplaying your mistakes and missed targets not highlighting them.

Fletch, I agree. The thing I'm trying to highlight to Rap is that he claims to abhor any use of 9/11 for political purposes - and it's pretty obvious to me Bush did just that - frequently and with mucho gusto.

And Rap even agrees ! he calls it playing to the audience - but then slides right over it as an issue.

He is the President, after all, and it would be pretty damn strange had he said NOTHING. Different folks in Bush's position will say things differently, as it reflects their personality, etc.... What I don't see is how/ why you vilify Bush for simply doing his job. On that, I will slide over it as an issue, for I don't see it as one. I don't see Bush politicizing 9/11 anywhere near the extent you claim. It's a major event in this country's history, and to disregard that would be foolish.

What makes me wonder about YOUR motives are the things I heard Clinton supporters say, following the days after 9/11. 'Some' muttered that it was unfair he wasn't President at the time of the attack, for then folks would see how TRULY great a man he is. It's these folks who lament the attacks happened under Bush's watch, and not Clinton's. Talk about blind partisanship! Frankly, I find talk to either extreme to be fruitless and down right un-American. Hell, even inhuman.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

"I don't see Bush politicizing 9/11 anywhere near the extent you claim."

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA !!!! You're kidding, right ?

Of COURSE he had something to say about it. But it was the ONLY thing he said whenever anyone questioned his agenda and still is to this day. Sneak and peak ? 9/11 ! Iraq War ? 9/11 ! Torture ? 9/11 ! Economy ? 9/11 ! and on and on ad nauseum. He used the tragedy to further his political goals. Worse, he took his eye completely off the goal of justice and security and now years later, bin Laden is still making videos and al Qaeda has rebuilt to pre-9/11 capability.

DEAD OR ALIVE ! was mere rhetoric designed to inflame Americans to stampede to his every whim.

"What makes me wonder about YOUR motives are the things I heard Clinton supporters say, following the days after 9/11. 'Some' muttered that it was unfair he wasn't President at the time of the attack, for then folks would see how TRULY great a man he is." What does that have to do with MY motives ?? Have I said it ? Have you seen it on this board ? Have you seen ANY evidence of Clinton-worship on the board ? Just 'cause people say Bush is a tool (and there's no getting around that he is) doesn't mean any here WORSHIP Clinton. My god, man, YOU are the one with the serious Clinton issue, reading things, seeing things that aren't even there.
