Air America to be sold; Franken leaving
Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal - 12:56 PM CST Mondayby Portland Business Journal

Air America Radio said Monday it has signed a letter of intent to sell its business to SLG Radio LLC, an entity controlled by Stephen L. Green, the founder and chairman of New York City-based SL Green Realty Corp. (NYSE: SLGPRC).

The sale will be accomplished pursuant to Section 363 of the United States Bankruptcy Code, and is expected to close by mid-February. The announcement was made by Air America CEO Scott Elberg.

Also on Monday, Al Franken, the network's best-known host, said he is leaving Air America Feb. 14. Earlier this month Franken, who has moved to Minnesota, told the Associated Press that he was considering a run for the U.S. Senate against Sen. Norm Coleman.

Thom Hartmann, Portland-based host of "The Thom Hartmann Program" on Air America's syndication channel, will move into "The Al Franken Show" timeslot next month.

Air America, which does business as Piquant LLC and is headquartered in New York City, currently produces 19 hours of original programming a day and is heard on 81 affiliates reaching 54 percent of the country.

I love talk radio. I never listened to Air America but driving through New Mexico channel surfing I picked it up well Bush sucks, Bush is evil, Bush is bad, who wants to listen to that. Their is room on the am dial for everyone but ya gotta have a format. I bought am antennas from C Crane Company for both my trucks, luv it. I've picked up KDKA 1020 from Pittsburgh PA in Texas. Charlotte's WFNZ 610 am in West Virginia. I enjoyed 570 am WKBN out of Youngstown OH and even AmericaFreedom.net off of shortwave from Colorado in PA. I am a conservative by nature but these are mostly Democrat influence stations but not liberal. Sports radio out of Charlotte had President Carter, Senator John McCain, and James Brown boy that's great. Just talkin football. I still think Nevada has great talk radio even though they have libertarin views but its good. There is an area of WV on I 81 where you pick up New Orleans, Buffalo, DC, Richmond, and Chicago all with in an hour with my C Crane am antenna. I like that guntalk show, Art Bell, Arnie Spanier, and Ferrell. Those are just some of the great talk shows on am radio. Air America only heard them in NM. Still I had rather listen to disney well in Utah that is all there is.

"Battle of Serenity, Mal. Besides Zoe here, how many-" "I'm talkin at you! How many men in your platoon came out of their alive".

Al Franken would make a perfect Senator.......

He's a loud-mouth, egotistical jerk who is absolutely sure that he's smarter than everyone else in the world.

He might have to scale back a bit on his habit of physically attacking & punching out anyone with who he disagrees however....I think even Ron Reagan Jr. could kick his ass ( once the tutu came off ).

He could join the Republican party and run for president.

More proof you don't know much about our Senate. When it comes to loud mouthed, egotistical jerks who think they're smarter than everyone else, we're talking...

Hillary Clinton
Robert Byrd
Joe Biden
Ted Kennedy
John Kerry
Dick Durbin
Chuck Schumer
Barbara Boxer

Those'd be Democrats, pal.
