MISBEHAVEN

I'm a six leaning towards seven. Where do you guys stand?

1.)
Strong theist. 100 percent probability of God. In the words of C. G. Jung' I do not believe, I know.'

2.)
Very high probability but short of 100 percent. De facto theist. ' I cannot know for certain, but I strongly believe in God and live my life on the assumption that he is there.'

3.)
Slightly higher than 50 percent. Technically agnostic but leaning towards theism. 'I am very uncertain, but I am inclined to believe in God.'

4.)
Exactly 50 percent. Completely impartial agnostic. 'God's existence and non-existence are exactly equiprobable.'

5.)
Lower than 50 percent but not much lower. Technically agnostic but leaning towards atheism. 'I don't know whether God exists but I'm inclined to be sceptical.'

6.)
Very low probability, but short of zero. De facto atheist. 'I cannot know for certain but I think god is very improbable, and I live my life on the assumption that he is not there.'

7.)
Strong atheist. 'I know there is no God, with the same conviction as Jung "knows" there is one.'

Sorry to knock your poll, but I can't fit into it. I'm not an atheist, I'm a Taoist, I follow a faith which doesn't believe in a God. I think actually there are a fair number of folks on the forum who are members of an eastern faith which essentially doesn't believe in a God.

Ok, I'll bite... I'm a one but not the typical church going kind. I believe in God and know that he exists. But I also believe that he exists along with science and that the two do not oppose one another. Since God is omnipresent I believe he exists on a subatomic scale. He is what holds the universe together.

No problem. This poll is rather refined, and it's not actually my own. I just swiped it from another website, because I thought it was interesting. But I can certainly empathize with those who follow eastern religions. I studied Buddhism pretty heavily for over a decade, and even though I'm not a card carrying Buddhist anymore and I consider myself an atheist, I still meditate regularly and generally follow the five precepts and the eight-fold path (although the latter is probably out of habit more than anything else).

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

Is that specific enough? Should I take it out to three decimal places?

You might try being a little more specific next time, just so there's no confusion.

ANTIMASON

ive committed to being 1... probably not a suprise to any of you

i have no physical scientific data to prove that God exists, so in that way i am acting on 'faith' that there is a greater force, transcendant of this physical linear dimension of ours. i dont know what specifically took place before mans 'fall' from the heavens, some think that a completion of a cycle on the Zodiac represents the fall and redemption of mans spiritual essence from the material physical existence, and back to a relationship with God the father of creation. some will say that the Zodiac came much later, or even before christianity, but really the belief in a creator God was the original, but was lost when the 'fallen angels' or 'annunnaki'(to the Sumerians) descended to earth and decieved man to worship creations, rather then the creator. i know most people just dismiss polytheism as myth, but i consider this all to be the real 'missing link' in evolution.

ive noticed that many people think that christianity came along, and so people ditched their old 'gods' for this one supreme God, and so it went; but in reality, the bible says that God created those 'gods' as angels, but that they left their domain (the heavens) and came unto man. Jesus was the essence of that God manifest, a pre-fall model of perfection that we could identify with(i mean, if GOd does exist, he would have to be incomprehendable); which allowed a relationship with us and this God

whether this is true or not, its interesting how the "NWO" conspiracy(as we call it) ties in with this. just type it into google if your not familiar, but youll notice that the secret societies that are primarily behind the NWOs conception have descended from the ancient pagan mysteries, the 'gods' of antiquaty and their knowledge; which actually fits prophetically with bible prophecy, regarding the establishment of the final global government of antichrist.

AURAPTOR

America loves a winner!

I was gonna say between the 5 and 6 range, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized I'm comfy w/ a solid 6 stance. Still skeptical, but there are so many questions, it kinda makes the whole issue moot.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

There's no listing for "Possibly there is - and if so I despise Him utterly".

Existance or no, my issue is whether or not said deity is a benevolent or malevolent force, and the evidence points wholly to the latter.

DREAMTROVE

Frem,

I think I did this rant some time ago with my "yhwh is evil" position. There is another possibility which is the "god is el" theory. This could work pretty well for christians because christ only refers to god as el rather than as yhwh. Muslims by extension could do the same thing. The OT would have to be gone through bit by bit to locate the primary sources. Certainly, in the original text of genesis from the sumerian, it does not say "yhwh created the world" but later versions rewritten by the cult of yhwh do say "yhwh created the world." But cult of yhwh could be wrong, and if they are, it doesn't invalidate the hypothesis that god exists.
