America loves a winner!

We were forced to basically re-watch the premier. How lame! While it was nice to see Sawyer dig out that bullet in his shoulder w/ his fingers, what everyone really wanted to see was Jack and Desmond get re aquainted down in the hatch. (ok, that didn't sound quite right ) But Desmond thinks the world was destroyed... wtf ?

Ugh!!!

Just damn!!

I wasn't dissappointed, but then I recognize that the show is a tease. Like X-Files or Twin Peaks we will be led on a long convoluted journey where the payoff can never match the expectation that they built up within us. I am just enjoying the ride.

Must mourn the deepest o'er the fatal truth,
The Tree of Knowledge is not that of Life.

This is what worries me. Either A.) They will finally pay us off and tell us wtf is going on and it will be a let down or B.) They're just never going to tell us what's going on.

They move this show along so slowly it's insane.

Jeez, people, it's only the 2nd episode of the season! Give 'em a chance! I like seeing the same time period from different character's perspecives. It gives the events I've already viewed deeper meaning. Remember the Buffy/Angel crossovers "Fool for Love" and "Darla"? Knowing Angel's version of the Boxer Rebellion put a whole new spin on Spike's recollection, didn't it?

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

It puzzles me how anyone could feel cheated by Lost. For them to give us too many answers this quickly would be like if Joss had told us everything we needed to know about Book and River in the "Serenity" pilot episode.

I also liked the recap of events in the hatch from a different perspective. One question. Did Desmond see, hear, or just suspect that Kate was in the duct work, or was it just chance that he shot at the grill she was hiding behind?

I say we form a boycott of LOST because of clear attempt to string us along and FORCE us to watch more and more episodes to find out what happened....

Jeeze folks, simmer down. I liked the different perspective too, and my comments were made after having seen the 2nd episode.

I did feel a bit cheated, because so far we've had
a recap of season 1
season 2 premier
a recap of the season 2 premier - ( albiet done quite effectively. )

Generally, the point of a cliff hanger is to end one ep so as to leave folks hangin 'till next week. Here, we just saw pretty much the same thing ( pertaining to the hatch related stuff, i mean ) only retold from a different perspective.

I understand the feeling that, as one person said it to me, "It felt like they had 1 hour 10 minutes worth of story and they couldn't fit it into one episode". But, personally, I'm still onboard. Anytime Locke is on my television screen, I'm tuning in.

Plus there was that cleavage shot of Kate in the air duct. Can't go wrong there. Yowza.

See my problem is ths...it's not that they haven't answered everything. It's that they're far more focused on creating new questions than even giving us something to go on.

What ate the pilot of the plane? We don't know and it's been more than a season since that happened. What was Kate's crime? There are tons of these mysteries that were started long ago and it's almost like the writers have moved on before they finished them.

I can easily see Desmond getting killed or everyone escaping the hatch or some junk. It'll get burried and a season later we'll be saying "who was that Desmond guy anyway?"

Well, I would assume that the thing that ate the pilot is part of the "security system", or LostZilla. We've seen a little bit about it, with Locke's comment of "I was pulled into the ground by what looked like a column of black smoke". I actually think I know what the deal is with that, due to something I saw in the pilot, but I'm not sure.

I'm thinking the hatch probably has something to do with that, and they are looking around in it(I agree that Desmond will probably die before he can tell them anything -- probably be Charlie's fault too). We saw a glimpse of the Others, or the Tailaways, or whoever they are...

I don't know. I used to be frustrated, in the latter part of season 1, but I feel like they're getting around to showing us something. And if they never have another Kate flashback, I'll be a happy man. #$%@ Stupid toy plane!

Unless Kate had to work as a stripper for a while or something.... Sorry. What was I talking about?

I have read that the first two episodes of Lost this season were designed to be one episode. ABC made them break it into two episodes. It was not the writers of Lost that wanted to do this.

I said the same thing when the show ended. I lokked at my wife and said, "so we're no further along than last week".

Supposed to get some answers from DEsMONd in ep 3 this weds.

Also, did anyone notice that Micheals ex wife also played a character in the BDM?

Won't say who cause I don't want to spoil.

Yeah, BarnStormer, that's what I heard too. At the beginning of the season, TPTB said that they would explain the hatch in the first three episodes. So if they still haven't explained anything by the end of this upcoming ep, we can start getting seriously pissed.

Anybody else find it to be very stupid that this hatch had a nice old front door that you can just walk in and out of apparently? How come nobody found that before?

I totally agree. Anyone else feel like they're writing this by the seat of their pants, just making it up as they go along, with no pre-defined 'answer' that ties everything together nicely and consistently?

Zeek, good point, though I'd assume it would have to be pretty well hidden (since they didn't actually show the door). Also, it's not like the Lostaways have done that much exploring.

You have to admit that they've provided a lot more information in this past episode, and some answers. Not definitive ones by any means, but answers nonetheless.

according to David Fury, who was working on the show for a while,
the creators don't have a payoff in mind...
they don't KNOW where they're headed,
so your 'B' scenerio is probably correct...
they probably will decide that any ending will be lame
MY problem is that the journey has gotten lame.
Seems to me that the backstories have gotten redundant already,
and I'm just having trouble caring....

I don't like the 'stars' of the show,
I'm really liking some of the supporting cast but I don't get to see enough of them...
so pretty much I'm watching Veronica Mars this year!
