It's arguing about which pattern of thought we are going to teach our children to use to filter their experiences through.

It's like having a heated debate over which travel guide is better - the Michelin Guide to Vienna or the Vienna Eyewitness Travel Guide, and never going to visit the city!

Yes, I believe one pattern fits better than the others. But that is a lens I choose to use to see the world around me, and it is not the world itself.

I like this. It is a truth.

You're not alone, I'm one of these believers in an official capacity. the technical term is Theistic evolution, some call it evolutionary creationism.

Okay, why don't you go get evidence that your God even exists at all before you try to pair him up with science? Oh, wait, that's right, you can't...

You're welcome on my boat. God ain't.

Let's seize a moment and think. You have read that I am a Theistic Evolutionist; do you really know what that is? In addition, like most ideological concepts (TE) has numerous believers who believe a broad range of Metaphysical constructs. From those who believe in a very traditional form of Christianity to Pantheism.

P.S. There are many scientific concepts concerning the beginnings of our universe that exist only in theory, and I believe that it takes scientific ‘faith’ to believe in these theories.

Okay, it’s late here and I know you’re going to reply quickly to this. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Maybe, but it's faith in theories that came about because of fact and evidence, not the superstitions of ancient mystics.

I concur. DarkJester, that was very nicely said. It had a kind of poetry to it .

Simple, huh? Not sure why I'm the only one who sees this...

Naw, you're not the only one. Many who study evolution see the beauty of HIS work in the tiniest of details. They know evolution has occured, and somehow it doesn't shake their faith. Crazy, huh? It's those Young Earthers, the Bible literalist who won't take anything in the Bible other than at face value that is the real problem here. And many see I.D. as nothing more than the Creationist pig dressed up in fine clothes.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

When I was pre-teen to early teen I used to dream poems, parables and chants. Here are a few examples:

(the picture is the world in space, the voice is a woman's gentle voice with the depth of the voice you hear in your head)
Spin yourself some magic
That you can call your own.
Spin yourself a dream,
And the world can spin alone.

(the picture is an arid, rocky sun-drenched Middle-East setting, the voice is a medium-register neutral man's voice)
A man looked upon the world and its various ways, and became confused.
He asked his god - what way am I to follow that's good?
And his god asked him - do you till your field? The man answered - yes.
And his god asked him - do you know your field? And the man answered - yes.
Then his god said - I say to you, you do not know your field. You must go into your field and turn stones, until you know the shape snd shuttle of each stone.
And the man was content from that day.

(the picture is a ridge top with some dead grasses and a bent, twisted evergreen with snow blowing on it, and a dreary sky; the chanting voice is that of an old, old woman)
Snow blows over the hill,
Wind hits cold against my back.
Long as it's winter, I won't look back.
Oh mercy me -
the Joshua tree.

My days be gone,
My friends be dead.
Wrinkled, dry, without a tear.
Here I am, and I won't look back,
Oh lonesome me -
The Joshua tree.

Wind blows over the hill,
Snow hits cold gainst my back,
I don't see far,
But I won't look back.
Oh mercy me -
The Joshua tree.

Since then, these dreams have gotten rarer, but longer, more complete and more freighted with meaning and insight. And they culminated (I feel) in the 'just enough' dream.

I have always wondered where those dreams came from.

....wow....

those are amazing. i'm can't think of anything to say but wow. and i'm still trying to think of something to write and say in response...lol.

these poems are so insightful and they just hold such power, i think the power of truth, going just up to the brink of something. i know you wrote this post a while ago, but i just had to tell you that i think these are amazing.

did you write them down after you had the dream or have you remembered them all this time? if you can remember more dreams i would really like to hear them. i love talking about, dechiphering, and hearing about this kind of stuff – philosophy, why things happen, dreams, ect. dreams are really a look into a whole nother world, a very interesting world at that, and i love looking into them.

oh and "the joshua tree" from that last poem, i was curious as to whether there really was one, so i googled it. it turns out there is one. is this anything like what it was in the dream? : http://www.desertusa.com/jtree/josh_month.html

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

Hi EngineAngel

I'm glad you liked my dream postings. I did write them down when I was young, but I wrote them here from memory, after all these decades. The tree looked like a Joshua tree, but smaller, gnarled and bent.

I have other similar dreams, but they are stories pages long.

That's because it is Creationism. They just gave it a new name and said "Look! We've come up with something new!" I.D. is a person's opinion that life is too complex to have evolved without a designer (not necessarily "God", but someone with the right prerequisites for the job).

However, Evolution is a concept developed through decades of thourough research and evidence gathering.
