MAL:Says to Kaylee:"Way to go kid. Nice work! I'd be plum tickled havin' you comin' along Kaylee. Save these parts though. Might be useful in the future.[Big grin on Mal's face. Pats Kaylee on the shoulder. Thinks to himself that things are taking a turn for the better. Then makes his way to Cargo Bay and begins readying mule for operation.]END TURN.

..WASH's MOVE

Mal Says to Wash:"I think you have a good notion."

"Yes!" Wash turns to go, heading towards the hallway leading to the bridge.

"All we've been through."

Wash is nodding as he turns.

"Wash,"

Wash stops in mid-turn and looks back at Mal.

"I'd like you to take care of that while Zoe and I meet with the contact."

"You got it!" Wash tries to recapture his momentum towards the bridge. Looking away from Mal, he's almost at the three steps leading up to the doorway.

"As you pointed out,"

Wash has one foot on the steps but feels an impending sense of you-can't-leave-yet-cuz-he-hasn't-granted-leave-yet so Wash puts a hand on the door frame and once again looks back.

"Alliance is keen on patrols around these parts."

Wash gives one nod in total agreement. Both feet now on the steps.

"I want to get our 'goods' loaded up and us airborn without too much ado."

Wash nods a second time. One foot now through the door frame.

"After you get done with the crew meeting, see that Serenity is fueled up and ready to go."

Wash continues walking down the hall, shouting back as he goes: "Absolutely! You are wise beyond your years, captain!"

And after a quick jog, Wash is now on the bridge. He goes straight to the intercom.

"Attention all hands. Seein' as how we've had a bit of a scrape recently, we figured it'd be a good idea to get all of us together to check damage control. Please report to the cargo bay immediately. And Doc? Please be ready in case we still got some cuts and bruises, and uh, check on your sister to make sure she's okay. Thanks everybody!"

Wash turns off the intercom and then sprints back out the bridge and down to the cargo bay. At one of the twists and turns, along the way he kisses his hand and then pats a doorframe of Serenity.

"Ten. Nine and one," he murmurs to himself along the way.

BOOK and SIMON'S MOVE
LOCATION: INFIRMARY {locked and blinds pulled}
Just after Book reenters the infirmary and finds Simon curled up kneeling on the floor and Niska still strapped securely to the exam bed

BOOK
Son! What have you done!

Simon attempts to stand. He only makes it because of Book's strength in holding him up.

SIMON
Tried ... something ... radical ... coughs spasmodically ... should have waited for you ...

BOOK
as Book maneuvers Simon over to the bench
"Yes, you absolutely should have waited"

SIMON
sitting but still dry coughing
"Didn't ... want to ... uhhh ... further ...

BOOK
Simon Tam...
grasps Simon's chin, lifts his head and looks deep into Simon's eyes and says with tight authority
... I've made my choices and will receive my due for them in my time.
Book allows his visage and voice to soften
"And after all, I am the one who is supposed to be the Shepard here on Serenity."

Simon nods his head blearily and stands wavering over to the comatose Niska and unsteadily undoes the straps. Book steps over and while finishing the unstrapping of Niska, he notes the oval case still attached to the transciver leads. He carefully moves Niska's small frame over and into River's Cyro unit, removing the oval case as he does so.

As Book arranges Niska inside, Simon unsteadly sets the air flow regulator and disconnects the full cyro, but still keeps the air 'fresher going.

Simon sits staring into space for several moments, then seems to gather the energy to place the lid on the CU but not to latch it down

SIMON
"Meebe ... we should strap it too."
Simon's head droops to his chest in exuastion.

Book nods in agreement, locks the latches and wraps the straps around the case then secures them

WASH
over intercom

The Doc is right here in the infirmary, but I don't recollect where his sister is. We'll meet you in the bay in a few minutes.

If you did what I think you did ... did you learn anything?

SIMON
voice VERY weary
Maybe ... hard to sort out now. Too many ...

Book nods in understanding and helps Simon out of the infirmary and out to the cargo bay.

Book's Move

Location: In transit between infirmary and cargo bay

Book half carries Simon into the cargo bay, helps him to sit down on an unoccupied workout bench, then returns to the infirmary to assure that Niska is still secured. Book checks all Niska's straps then locks the infirmary from the outside, quickly goes across the common area to the bathroom, splashes some water on his face, then re-enters the cargo bay.

Wash runs into the cargo bay as fast as he can, and then stops short when he realizes Kaylee, Book, Simon and Malcolm have beaten him there. Still winded. He looks around and shrugs to himself, then stops as his gaze falls on Simon, who looks about how Wash feels.

"Huh. Physician heal thyself?" Wash walks over to Simon. "Doc, where's your sister?" Then catches himself, "And uh, y'know Jayne and Inara."
