For me it's the Blue Sun Job fanfiction series. I stayed up late last night trying to catch up on it since it's so long! But it's gorram amazing. I look forward to each new chapter like I would an episode and it makes me miss having new episodes of these great characters all the more. I've never seen Mal and Zoe (and the relationship) written so well.

LOL After this, as well as posting 2 reviews of the story, this writer is gonna think I'm a bloody stalker!

Just curious since it's 30 chapters on - do you have in mind what you want to happen at the end or are you just seeing where the stories and characters take you?

Oh, and unless this is too personal - what do you do for a living? And have you ever considered writing if you ain't a writer? You've seen all the reviews, people are amazed by your story!

Someone else asked that at one point, too. Yes. The ending scene was the first scene I wrote. It's a critical basic to writing that you must know where the story's going. Once you have that you can take a leisurely, even convoluted, path getting there, but having the end goal is vital. I didn't plot every moment of Blue Sun Job in advance but did have certain critical scenes, even dialog moments, fixed in advance. I'm just taking my time with the elements that bridge each of those critical scenes (enjoying the ride myownself--it's being a very satisfying writing experience).

In the case of Blue Sun Job (I really do love to talk about my writing and stories!), the story is what would be called character-driven, rather than plot-driven. The hard plot elements are there primarily to force character developments and interactions. And in established Firefly style, the ending won't be a hard, resolves-everything ending, though I will wrap all the plot lines and elements I've established throughout. This last chapter, #30, for example, was intended from the start, but to do it effectively, it required all the backstory to be shown and ingrained beforehand, otherwise the dialog/monologue scenes would have had to be mindbogglingly expository, rather than what they were, which was each characters' later view/assessment/lasting emotional impact. (Jebbypal's comment on that point pleased me--let me know that had worked.)

As for what I do... ummm... let's just say new to fanfic but to writing, not so much.
