Here's a fun little spin-off I've been working on the past few days. Merry Christmas!! =======================================

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the boat Not a person was stirring their famous brown coat. The weapons were holstered and hung with great care, Waiting if needed to be drawn with a flare.

The crew was nestled all snug in their bunks The course set; Miranda, since having been drunk. And River on Smoothers and no way to know That out of the black a new ship came in tow.

When out off the port there rose a swell light It looked like a sun or a star shining bright. Awake! To the bridge Wash flew in a flash, To quell the sensor alarms in a dash.

Zoe in trail and Mal up behind Came quickly to see this terrible sign. When what to their wondering eyes should appear But a gorram Reaver spacecraft drawing near.

With huge plates and spikes, pointed and dark For battering and war; an outer-rim shark. More rapid than Alliance the huge vessel came, Mal cursing and muttering ev’ry foul name.

Wash yelled to the comm to awaken the rest Of this horrible plight that was no ruttin’ jest. “’kay, people we’re humped! We’re going full burn!” Kaylee was prepping the engine’s high-turns.

The Firefly danced ‘round a planetary ring While hoping from its atmo-pull it could sling. So quietly calm Shepherd Book knelt to pray And Jayne, locked and loaded, brought Vera to play.

And then, in a split-second, their hearts began to sink From outside the bay doors came a loud metal clink. It shuddered the craft and everyone knew This was no better than seeing the two Hands of Blue.

The door flew open and in came foul creatures With pins and bones and bloody-lined features. But the bundle of trouble was taken aback When Jayne and Mal, yelling, counter-attacked.

But more and more Reavers came pouring in It looked as though this would be the true end. Then all of a sudden everything went black And the room fell silent…

CRACK!! WHAM!! THUD!!! BLAM!!!

A frenzy ensued in the dark of the bay Amid horrified screams; a terrible fray. Silence followed again in the long seconds after And tiny footsteps could be heard on the rafter.

As quickly as off now the lights came back on To show the horrible hoard dead and gone. Mal looked at Zoe and Simon then Jayne And said, ‘what the heck?! Someone please explain!’

Jayne grunted and shrugged and Zoe just stared At the smallish girl figure sneaking upstairs. ‘lil one, come down,’ coaxed Mal, connecting dots Of the firestorm-work from their own Albatross.

And quick as a wink, she cart-wheeled into view Jumping and landing in front of the crew. ‘They needed to be free,’ spoke a shy humble girl Then bounded away with a grin and a twirl.

Later at dinner the noisy crew bantered Of crazy events, from the day, in light manner. Laughing and joking of the awfully close call Relieved of the threat; now on to Whitefall.

Night once again found the crew fast asleep Except Mal, who landed in Inara’s quaint keep. They talked of each other while brewing green tea And loving the life…here on Serenity.

BYTEMITE

You made Reavers Christmasy. I thought that was impossible.

I'm working on a fun poem like this myself, but it's shorter and more to go with something else I'm working on. But don't worry, mine sucks, yours is good. Once a year I have to get writing some poetry out of my system, so that people don't have to suffer through it the rest of the year.
