It's only earth-like in that its size is "close" to that of Earth and it orbits a star.

I think the earth-like is because it is terrestrial as opposed to a gas giant. Astronomers have detected a number of gas giant planets orbiting stars.

Yes, this was possibly the most misleading title for an article I've ever seen in my life. The planet is rocky, has an atmosphere and is in an inner solar system orbit around its star. Calling it Earth-Like is like calling Mars Earth-Like.

Well, it is "terrestrial" in the sense of being "not a gas-giant or a moon." I'm excited about what it says for our detection ability.

We can get better and more detailed looks at the places we can't go.

I'm hoping they will start sending out long-range probes to further study the star systems that have terrestrial planets.. at least start within our lifetime..
