Can't wait... looking at the schedule there's a match a day for a month to be interested in...

and all in HD!

My top 4:

USA USA USA USA!

I kid

I have us yanks getting drubbed in the opener with Eng - 4-0. My money is on Crouch for a 2-fer. I will be cheering for us but I consider it a big victory for US soccer if we can get out of the group play.

1. Spain, how can you not?
2. Eng - Rooney! Swearing at a ref?? Who hasn't?
3. Holland - depending on Robben
4. Italy - I hope they play like they have something to prove

What's with all the injuries? Nerves? Drogba, Nani - sad

It is a bit annoying that so many games are going to be during work hours... I certainly don't have an expert opinion. I like England's chances. Of course, I'd like to see the U.S. go far, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up...

I've never gotten into sailing. I hope the US wins the race just for the heck of it, but really I couldn't care less.

Sometimes you own the libs. Sometimes, the libs own you.

I think USA has a good chance of progressing out of the group stage. Me and a lot of my fantasy football mates are big fans of 'President' Clinton Dempsey.

Spain look hard to beat, but there's a very strong trend against Euro teams winning the WC outside of Europe... and vice versa.

My tips:

1)Brazil
2)Spain
3)England
4)Argentina

Heads should roll

I haven't seen much of Clint from this year other than that amazing late goal against Juventus - that was poetry, and what a match.

Argentina - I forgot them. A lot of great players, and I think all of them are healthy too.

I was wondering something about Argentina. I read something that made Argentina's coach out to be a primadonna, making all sorts of extravagant demands (like multi course meals all the time and heated toilet seats) from the hotel they are staying at in South Africa. Is this usual behavior for most teams? I'm wondering if the excessive pandering/gluttony and expectation that they be treated extra special will affect the team's performance... (No offense to Argentina fans, I'm just curious). I guess what I'm asking is, "Is that kind of entitlement par for the course for all teams, or is Argentina overly entitled and might it affect their performance?"

CHAPTERANDVERSE

Diego Maradona, the Argentine coach, is a whole phenomenon in himself. A legendary player and, frankly, more than a bit unbalanced. In fact, there are some who believe that he is willfully undermining his team's best player--maybe the world's best player--Messi to ensure that Maradona himself will forever be lauded as Argentina's finest player.

We are doing a match lottery at work, with everyone picking one team from the hat. I got France. As an Irish girl, I am appalled.

I'm not Irish, but I've always had a soft spot for Ireland -- don't know why. It sucks they didn't make it in (My friends console me by telling me I can take Ireland to the cup in Fifa 2010 for xbox 360, but this is poor consolation...)

Like woman, I am a mystery.

It would be shocking if USA don't make it out of the group stage. Nothing against Algeria and Slovenia but compared to USA and Ingurland, they're cupcakes and it would be an embarrassment if they didn't soundly defeat them both. That leaves the Brits. If they have any shot at all of contending beyond the group stage, they must take the group. That way at least has a chance of advancing to the semi finals. If they don't take the group, then they are screwed as in all likelihood they'd be facing Germany. And even if they somehow pull a shocker and beat them, in all likelihood they'd face Argentina and I don't see the Americans topping them.

But in all honesty, I have England taking the whole thing, beating Italy in the finals. Final 4 is England, Italy, Germany and Netherlands.

i gotta support aus. and i think that since we beat italy last time everywhere but the scoreboard, we have a decent shot at getting a good result against germany and making it to the elimination stages again.

Ok, Mexico got hosed unless there's some other penalty that happened other than offside that I didn't hear. How can there be offside when there's a defender on the goal line?? I haven't heard any other explanation yet, the guys at half time acted like it hadn't happened. Is it if you are behind the goalie??

I'd hate to see the game change too much but as the US$$$ gets more involved and US$$$ advertisers get involved you know there will be pressure to make changes... HOWEVER, considering this and Henri's handball ya gotta think instant reply is a good idea.

You need two oppostion players to play you on-side (usually one defender and the goalkeeper). The goalie's apparently misjudged charge out of his goal was actually a springing of the perfect offside trap...

We've beaten Germany on 3 of the last four occasions. The last 2 times we played them IN Germany we won 5-1 and 2-1. The Germans do not phase us at all.The US is our hardest game on paper at the moment. And a drubbing isn't likely.England flatter to deceive every time we play on the big stage. We should sail thru the group, but an upset by the Yanks wouldn't be too big a shocker, believe me.

Should have been 1-0 ENG, our goal was pure voodoo dark magic. And ENG has 4 times the talent going into most matches, they just played without effort after getting their first easy goal.
