America loves a winner!

Wasn't what I expected. A mixed bag, no doubt. But in some ways, it reminded me of some of how Joss writes. To the point that folks coming from different places or viewing the same thing through different eyes can, if only given a brief explanation or if the right word is said at the right moment, change how a situation plays out. When the young officer picks up the black guy hitchiking, and things end up badly, that reminded me of so much of The Message. In one, all the black guy had to do was point to the statue on the dashboard and SAY St. Christopher, indicating he knew the icon, and the young cop would have been far more at ease. Sometimes the smallest of things can clarify what a person means and open up doors. Likewise, when Mal simply had to tell Tracy what their plan was, and no one would have ended up shot. Of course, Mal was relying on Tracey to fall in and trust him like they were still in the war.

Anyway,..decent flick .I'd give it a 3 1/2 out of 5 gosslings.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

REGINAROADIE

Sorry. Have to disagree with you. CRASH is as subtle as a sledgehammer and has no nuance or finesse to it. It was just hysterical screaming and melodramatic twists. And it snows in L.A. That just automatically loses me in anything.

No way did it deserve to beat BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. There was more genuine emotion and filmmaking craft in "Jack, I swear..." than all of CRASH put together.

Joss has evolved from tv writing. Paul Haggis on the other hand still writes like a TV writer.

I never claimed that 'Crash' was subtle in any way. Not sure to what you're disagreeing with me about, but I guess you have your preferences.

Fact is, I had sorta mistook this for another Don Cheadle film, 'Traffic' - go figure. That's in part why I said it wasn't what I expected. I knew it had something to do w/ cars or some such.
